Darlene's Quilt

A very Sunny Saturday too you!!!

My coreopsis is looking fantastic this year.

Welcome y'all ! This is just a quick "pop in visit" to share my update on "Darlene's Quilt " which I pieced last year.

This quilt was inspired by my sweet friend, Darlene who made a mini version last year.  Hi Darlene!

I just adore this quilt. While camping in Whitney, Texas, I completed the quilting of the body of the quilt.

There were so many beautiful photo opportunities by the lake that I became quite snap happy! πŸ“ΈπŸ“·πŸ˜€

Now I am on to the border.

I am looking forward to having this quilt finished and on display very soon.
I free hand quilted a pinwheel in each block. The  quilting shows up so nicely which warms my heart.

Thank you , Darlene for the inspiration!

I am so very grateful that you dropped by for a Saturday visit.

I will leave you with a couple of more photos of Darlene's Quilt among the beautiful Texas blooms which were so spectacular!

As Always...

Happy quilting and stitching, y'all

Wouldn't that be darling ? I want to thank you again. I am still plugging away on it. Hopefully the borders will be completed this weekend. Hugs.

    1. Oh, Barbara, I can not tell you what a joy this quilt has been to work on. It is so exciting when a quilt brings out that "spark " isn't it ? Thank you so much for the sweet Saturday visit. Hugs.

  4. I do love this quilt - it's so simple and yet so pretty. But isn't that the way it is with the simple designs. My dd has often said she loves scrappy so much more than the "planned" quilts.
The new cross stitch looks like fun - can't wait to see it!
    Blessings!

    1. Aaw thank you so much, Donna. I am so excited to be nearing a finish on this one. I agree I enjoy the scrappy quilts too. There is always the unexpected in the scrappy ones. It has been nice to use up some of the fabrics that I have had for almost 20 years in this quilt. Hope you are enjoying your travels. Hugs and Blessings.

  9. Darlene's Quilt is so pretty, Melisa! I love the soft spring colors, and your quilting is perfect for it. Do you have an idea about how you'll quilt the border?

    1. Oh thank you so much, Diann. I have hoarded the fabrics for years so it was nice to finally use the pretty soft colors. I think I will do a little cable design in the border. I am making up my own template since I do not have a premade stencil that would fit. I have my fingers crossed it will all work out. LOL. Hugs.

  14. Your quilting has brought this lovely quilt to life with so much texture. What size are the blocks again? The new stitch peek looks very interesting! How sunny the coreopsis is. I've never had it in my gardens. How does it smell?

    1. Oh thank you so much, Ginny. I am pleased with how it has quilted up. The blocks are 8 " finished. I was thinking of maybe working on a patriotic one. Wouldn't that be cute? The coreopsis is an easy plant to grow. It has a sweet smell, but very faint. Unfortunately, I hardly notice it . We smelled the honey locust trees in bloom the other day. Oh my they smelled divine! Have a great evening. Hugs.
