A very Sunny Saturday too you!!!
Welcome y'all ! This is just a quick "pop in visit" to share my update on "Darlene's Quilt " which I pieced last year.
This quilt was inspired by my sweet friend, Darlene who made a mini version last year. Hi Darlene!
I just adore this quilt. While camping in Whitney, Texas, I completed the quilting of the body of the quilt.
There were so many beautiful photo opportunities by the lake that I became quite snap happy! πΈπ·π
Now I am on to the border.
I am looking forward to having this quilt finished and on display very soon.
I free hand quilted a pinwheel in each block. The quilting shows up so nicely which warms my heart. |
Thank you , Darlene for the inspiration!
I am so very grateful that you dropped by for a Saturday visit.
I will leave you with a couple of more photos of Darlene's Quilt among the beautiful Texas blooms which were so spectacular!
As Always...
Happy quilting and stitching, y'all
Melisa

"Darlene's Quilt" is adorable. I don't inspire many so it makes me happy that I inspired you.
ReplyDeleteOh , Darlene you are an inspiration and a sweet friend. I can not tell you how much I have enjoyed this quilt. I was thinking of making another perhaps in patriotic colors. Wouldn't that be darling ? I want to thank you again. I am still plugging away on it. Hopefully the borders will be completed this weekend. Hugs.
DeleteSuper cute quilt. Great finish!
ReplyDeleteAaah thank you so much, Karen. It has been a joy to work on this quilt. I can not wait to have it on display. Have a blessed and beautiful weekend. Hugs.
DeleteLovely quilt, Melisa! My, all that stitching! It’s beautiful!
ReplyDeleteCan’t wait to see the latest cross stitch - love the border. ☺️π♀️πππππ₯°xx Barbara, @flashinscissors
Oh, Barbara, I can not tell you what a joy this quilt has been to work on. It is so exciting when a quilt brings out that "spark " isn't it ? Thank you so much for the sweet Saturday visit. Hugs.
DeleteI do love this quilt - it's so simple and yet so pretty. But isn't that the way it is with the simple designs. My dd has often said she loves scrappy so much more than the "planned" quilts.
ReplyDeleteThe new cross stitch looks like fun - can't wait to see it!
Blessings!
Aaw thank you so much, Donna. I am so excited to be nearing a finish on this one. I agree I enjoy the scrappy quilts too. There is always the unexpected in the scrappy ones. It has been nice to use up some of the fabrics that I have had for almost 20 years in this quilt. Hope you are enjoying your travels. Hugs and Blessings.
DeleteWhat a pretty quilt, Melisa! I really like that green. That Texas landscape is a perfect backdrop.
ReplyDeleteThe landscape could not have gotten much better! Goodness was it beautiful at Lake Whitney. I was so glad to be able to take photos of my quilt there. Thank you so much , Linda. I hope you are enjoying your day. Hugs.
DeleteYour Darlene's Quilt is looking fabulous, Melisa. What a wonderful assortment of snapshots of it with a Texas backdrop.
ReplyDeleteAah thank you so much, Robin. It was hard to resist taking so many photos with all of the beautiful flowers. They were just stunning. It was nice to get so much of my quilt completed on the trip as well. It is stitched with many fond memories. Have a great afternoon. Hugs.
DeleteWhat a lovely quilt, Melissa; your quilting is so gorgeous!! I just love that textured look..nice work hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Julierose. I am quite pleased how the quilting showed up. This quilt has been a delight to work on. I can not wait to make another . Have a wonderful afternoon and thank you for the sweet Saturday visit. Hugs.
DeleteLove the quilting on that pretty quilt. Looking forward to seeing how "in the Garden" turns out.
ReplyDeleteAaw thank you so much, dear. This quilt has worked up quicker than I expected . I hope to work on the borders tonight on both the quilt and the stitch. I hope you are enjoying a lovely day stitching Hugs and Blessings.
DeleteDarlene's Quilt is so pretty, Melisa! I love the soft spring colors, and your quilting is perfect for it. Do you have an idea about how you'll quilt the border?
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Diann. I have hoarded the fabrics for years so it was nice to finally use the pretty soft colors. I think I will do a little cable design in the border. I am making up my own template since I do not have a premade stencil that would fit. I have my fingers crossed it will all work out. LOL. Hugs.
DeleteSuch a pretty quilt, Melisa. I'm intrigued by that hand quilted design. I must try to remember that as I have a few quilts needing quilting in the queue and that is perfect.
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun little design to quilt . I was inspired by the windmills that we saw as we traveled. It quilted up a lot quicker than I expected too. Thank you so much, Jocelyn. I hope you have been having a lovely weekend. Hugs.
DeleteYour free hand pinwheels perfectly accent Darlene's quilt! It is a lovely quilt!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects

ReplyDeleteAaah thank you so much, Vicki. I told hubby I wish I could have stayed on vacation just one more week to finish the quilt. LOL, but I will have it done in just a few days Fingers crossed. Happy quilting. Hugs.
DeleteWhat beautiful hand quilting texture!!!
ReplyDeleteAaah thank you so much, Nancy. It has quilted up nicely and has been a joy to work on. Thank you for dropping by. Hugs.
DeleteYour quilting has brought this lovely quilt to life with so much texture. What size are the blocks again? The new stitch peek looks very interesting! How sunny the coreopsis is. I've never had it in my gardens. How does it smell?
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Ginny. I am pleased with how it has quilted up. The blocks are 8 " finished. I was thinking of maybe working on a patriotic one. Wouldn't that be cute? The coreopsis is an easy plant to grow. It has a sweet smell, but very faint. Unfortunately, I hardly notice it . We smelled the honey locust trees in bloom the other day. Oh my they smelled divine! Have a great evening. Hugs.
DeleteDarlene is sporting some lovely spring colors. Congrats on all the progress.
