October Sunday Happenings

Is this a face only a mother could love? Oh, I think she is adorable !πŸ€— Hmmm! What should I name her? Petunia? Maybe.

The other night Mr. Pinker received a phone call from our neighbor who said  that one of our pigs was on the loose. So he immediately jumped in the truck and drove down to the farm. Wheww! Our pigs were safe and sound , but  he did find this sweetie  at the bottom of the driveway. We figure someone was tired of feeding  her and dumped her out knowing that we raise pigs . Yesterday I had to drive  out to the barn to meet this gal.  Hopefully, we will find where  she belongs soon.

Later in the day, I went out to mom's and watched the nephews carve their Halloween pumpkins.  A Happy Jack and a deer pumpkin.  The boys did a pretty good job if I do say so.

Grab you some roasted pumpkin seeds. They are oh so yummy and a bit spicy.

I roasted these using a dash of this and that including butter, Worcestershire sauce, Tony Chacheres which I put on everything and a bit of Chicka  Licka Bam Bam.

I squeezed in one more Halloween finish . This is Bent Creek's Happy Halloween which was gifted to  me by dear Robin. Thank you Robin. I loved stitching this piece. I hope to fully finish it today into a little pillow.

For my slow stitching Sunday project, I will be  plopping down in my comfy stitching chair and giving my Easter quilt some love.πŸ’œ❤ I am almost finished with the body of the quilt, and then it will be time for the border.

Eeeh ! I am so excited. I can see the light on this project. 🌞

Look  at this cutie patootie project that my dear friend, Patrica gifted me. It is called   "Welcome Fall" by Kathy Schmitz.  I hope to get all of the brown stitching completed today.

For my Santa Sunday stitch, I have this little guy in the works. I hope to share him soon. He is coming along.

Can you believe it has been a year since I shared my Frosty McChill embroidery blocks?

It is that time again ! Time for another  Snowman Embroidery SAL. This one will be called Flurry & Flakes  and will be just a small wall hanging size. So if you are interested , please drop in on Thursday November 3rd for the 1st block and all of the info.

    1. Aaah thank you so much, Gretchen . Well Petunia is not the type of pigs we usually raise and sell. She is a pot belly , but is so adorable. I hope we find her home very soon, but I will enjoy her visit as long as she is here. Have a great week.

  2. I enjoyed your post today - the pumpkins are great - and the seeds sound yummy. My dd does the roasted seeds and makes pumpkin chocolate chip bread.
A new hog? Hog dumping? Sad. But, you've named her and you know what that means...;-)

  6. Oh I think it should be Petunia, and she is definitely a cutie!! I know she's glad to have a home to care for her whether you find her original owner or not! However, having grown up with my share of both pigs and cows, I have to say cows are cuter! LOL Your stitching looks great. I know you're glad to start to see the light on your quilt. Have a great week, Melisa!

    1. Aaah thank you so much, Brenda. Hubby is trying to find the owner , but noone has made claims. That's why we think that Petunia was left at our place . She will be well taken care of until we find her a forever home though. Oh yes I am excited to coming to an end on this quilt. Have a great week.

  8. oh, a new piggy girl!! I love piggy snouts, they are so soft, we had pigs and turkeys and chickens. I loved growing up rural. You have some really cute items to stitch, enjoy your Sunday Stitches. A new stitch-along starting in November, oh boy, oh boy!! Why did October fly away so quickly this year?? Christmas is so close,,,, Warm hugs from Sunny Arizona (a little cloudy, today!).

I have been quilting on my Frosty quilt this week in fact. I hope you have a very lovely week and a Happy Halloween. Hugs ( It has been dreary and cloudy here for the last 2 days, but thankfully we did get a bit of rain. )

  9. What a cute piggy, such a shame she was dumped. Or maybe she escaped? I love seeing your pretty stitchery projects, and must admit that I was tempted by Frosty last year. But we dont have snow where I live, only on the mountain tops, so I didn't pursue this idea.

    1. Petunia is as cute as a button. Unfortunately , she did not belong to any of the neighboring farmers. We will take care of her until we can find her owner though. I wondered if it snowed in your area. We rarely get snow where I live either , but I still dream of it- even if it is just a dusting. Have a great week, Jenny.

  10. Your hand stitching is beautiful, Melisa! I have not had roasted pumpkin seeds in years but the memories of how they taste just flooded back as soon as I was reading about them. :-). I think Miss Piggy wants to live at YOUR farm now. She doesn't want to go back where she came from!

    1. Oh thank you so much Rebecca. It has been awhile since I had roasted pumpkin seeds as well and I was so glad that the grandbabies even enjoyed them. Lol. - I love that name- Miss Piggy- I hadn't thought of that. It certainly looks like she wanted to join our pigs on the farm- unfortunately our pigs were not so welcoming so we are having to separate them. Lol. Have a great week

  11. Oh, I may have to join Furry & Flakes. Now I just have to remember the start date. I love all of your pretty projects. I have to confess that I have never roasted pumpkin seeds and I know I am missing out. I hope that piggy finds her home, whether or not she stays with you.

  15. I think pigs are adorable, and Petunia is a sweet name. I hope she wasn't just dumped :-( You put me to shame with your stitching - I've hardly touched anything in a few weeks. We've had some nice weather in central Texas so I've been outside soaking it up while it's still tshirt weather, lol. I just discovered Kathy Schmitz and now own several patterns and a panel of patriotic designs that I want to stitch over and make little pillows. Happy Halloween!

    1. Sadly someone did just leave sweet Petunia at our driveway. We live out in the sticks so those things happen . We are trying to find her owner, but we know it is not any of the neighborhood farmers . She will be taken care of until we do find her home though. Oh, I am so jealous of the nice warm weather. My daughter is in Texas and she told me yesterday was a hot one. I would be out enjoying the nice weather as well. Isn't Kathy Schmitz's designs just fabulous? Hope you enjoy stitching them. Happy Halloween.

  16. Priscilla or Prissy came to mind when I saw her. I hope, if she stays with you, that she is a happy and healthy gal. I have started Frosty McChill in bluework and plan on backing it with Minky. Thank you for all your generous giving with your stitching.

I hope you enjoy working on them. How fun that you already have the backing ready. I always dread finding the backing for some reason. Lol. Have a great week, dear Ginny.
