Summer on the Farm Freebie.

Hello, my sweet friends. How are you doing?  Are you ready to bale some hay? Well put on your blue jeans, a long sleeve shirt, grab a hat,  and let's head on out to the farm. Don't forget to bring a jug of water. It is going to be a hot one.  Lol . 

You might be shaking your head thinking what is she talking about now! 😃 Well I wanted to share with you "Summer on the Farm" .  And yep, there is some hay baling going on! Let me tell you about it. 

Earlier this year, I shared a "Spring on the Farm"  series which is a  a grouping of 3 designs based on my life on the farm. It is a mix of my grandparent's and my parent's farm.

This was , Spring on the Farm  ( the 1st of the designs) which included my grandparent's  big red barn , the strawberry patch, and garden with some of the farm animals milling about.   

Well Springtime is over, and it was time to change the series out to Summer on the Farm. It has some of the same elements such as Papa's big red barn, Dad's red  tractor and such . 

                  

What does summer time mean on our farm?  Hay time!  The grass has been cut, and raked,  and it is time to get to baling. Don't worry . Now we round bale the hay so you won't get all  itchy and scratched up.

                               

            

 However when I was a kid, dad always square baled the hay . Pa Pa drove the tractor. Dad would stack the hay, and as the "hay tower" grew taller, my sister, cousins and I would tug on the bales stacking them even higher until Dad told us that was high enough. Lol.  We then  would sit on top of the "hay tower' with a milk jug of iced water as the tractor chugged along. We loved it ! We also knew that meant a swim at the river once the hay was unloaded.  What great childhood memories.

 So  when I worked on Summer on the Farm, I just had to include a wagon load of hay hitched to the tractor ready to make its way to the barn.  

Sunflowers are blooming on each side of the barn while behind it is a few sheep, a little red hen and some bee skeps.  

 

I stitched Summer on the Farm on 14 count tea dyed aida. It measures 53 W x 53 H which on measures about 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" . I finished mine on the same Dollar Tree tray that I used for the Spring version. I just popped out the Spring stitch and popped in the Summer one. 

I found this little wooden tray in craft section and was unfinished. I just painted mine white. 

I used some vintage looking fabric and lace from the Dollar Tree for embellishment.
