Lemon Squeezey Summer Hutch Tour

 I skipped the watermelons and went straight for the lemons!  

Welcome y'all.  It's that time! Yep ! Time for another Country Clutter Tour.  

Usually in July , I decorate the hutch and kitchen with  watermelons and chickens, but this year I decided blueberries and lemons were on the menu. 

Soon I cleaned off all of the tins from the "Take Me Out to the Ballgame " patriotic hutch and pulled out my lemon plates. These were new purchases from the Dollar Tree. 

Playing off the blues in the lemon plates , I pulled out a couple of thrifted ironstone dishes.  Aren't they lovely? 

 Behind my plates is a string of white Christmas lights that I  plug in to give the hutch a little more light. 

Soon the hutch was filled to the brim with "lemony goodness" ! Filling every square inch possible is just my style.  Shall we take a look?!

It is rare that anything changes on the top of the hutch. I keep my Coca Cola crates and bottles on top along with the Campbell's Soup tin which is filled with plates.  I did decide to leave the Co-Op Chicks sign out . I just love it. 🐔🐔

I also left the forsythia vine draped  from the top just because I love the color. 

On the top shelf is a couple of stitches including "Home on Berry Lane" , a stitch I have not shared and  Blueberry Basket

This gorgeous lavender sachet made from a vintage embroidery was a gift from a dear friend! I love it!!!💛💙💛 Thank you , Susan.

Let's slide down to the 2nd shelf. 

In the vintage juicer, I added a small Hull bowl filled with thrifted faux lemons. 

 A little ceramic blueberry pie is beside it.  Isn't the graphics gorgeous on the Mendets package?  The Menndets is from the 1950's and were used to repair pots and pans- another thrifty find.

On the yellow riser is From the Heart Needleart's freebie called Floral Pinkeep.   Teetered on top of a small stack of vintage lemon cups  is Bee Berry 

Did you notice my newest vintage doily? 💚💛😀 You can see a bit of it in the photo below. I believe it is a grape design- so stinkin' cute! 

The blueberry pie dish is also recent thrifty find. It does need some touch up paint , but I turned it to its good side.  Below it is Aunt Betty's  at Blueberry Buckle Lane which is one of my favorites' of 2023. 

Vintage Fire king, a cookbook, platters, salt and pepper shakers and my scales round out the bottom shelf. 

So that is it! Now tell me are your craving lemon blueberry squares with a cold glass of lemonade right now? Hee! Hee!   I am ! 

 I am so very grateful that you dropped by to visit me today!

A Scrappy Patriotic Monday

 Are you working on patriotic stitching? I still am!  I just am not ready to move on to another season. 😀 But there is 62 more days until Autumn so I guess I should move on.

The week before I had purchased this little silver butter tray at the thrift store for a $1.00. I knew I would find a use for it, and by golly, this stitch fit perfectly! 

Today I will continue working on more Happy Scrappy Flags.  I shared the measurements for these blocks in my May 20, 2024 post. 

This past week I added 20 more to the ever growing stack of flags. I now have a grand total of 100 happy flags.  I have decided to write messages of "patriotism, love and hope " on some of the flags.  

 Alrighty, I have got some flags to piece so I better get on the move. I wish you a marvelous day .

Summer Time Treat and Summer Quilting

Hello , Sunshine! How are you doing on this fine Sunday  in July? The weather has been fairly mild this week.  It has rained cats and dogs off an on all week. Hmm, I wonder if it will rain today? Hee! Hee! I hope so! 

 

A rainy day

Please excuse me. I failed to offer you a sweet summer treat to eat as we visit. Please do grab a plate and a slice of Oreo Dump Cake.  

Can I tempt you  with  a dollop of ice cream as well.?  One scoop or two? It is Blue Bunny's Cookies and Creme! - Quite delicious, if I do say so myself. 

Mr. Pinker visited his family last weekend and came home with a slice of this ooey gooey treat just for me! Aaah how sweet!  But alas, temptation took over, and he gobbled it down before I ever got a taste. 😋😋😂  That was ok though. 

Soooo  after digging through the pantry, and finding we did have the ingredients on hand, I made one just for us to enjoy! 

EASY OREO DUMP CAKE

INGREDIENTS:

1 package of Oreos 

1 stick of butter cut into slices /pats

1  ( 14 oz. ) can of sweetened condensed milk

1 ( 8 oz. ) container of Cool Whip

1  (15. 25 oz. ) chocolate cake mix

DIRECTIONS:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 

2. Lightly grease a  9" x 13" baking dish. 

3. Arrange 20 Oreos on the bottom of the baking dish.  Reserve at least 6 Oreos for topping. 

4. Pour sweetened condensed over the Oreos. 

5. Top with whipped topping and spread evenly. 

6. Sprinkle the cake mix over sweetened condensed milk

7. Distribute the pats of butter over the cake mix evenly. 

8.  Crush the 6 reserved  Oreos and sprinkle over the top of the cake. 

9.  Bake in oven for 40-45 minutes. 

 

You must serve warm because  it is harder to scoop out of the pan as it  cools and hardens.  But you can warm it back up. 

  Optional:  Top with ice cream when serving.

Nine berries quilted. Time to quilt berry # 10! 

I completed  4 strawberry blocks this week for a grand total of 9 strawberry blocks quilted! WOO HOO!

I began this quilt in 2018 and finished the applique this year. 

 21 more blocks to go! But hopefuly, I can knock another block off the list today. 

Time to move the hoop!

Well, that's the buzz in the quilt room for today. Now let's sit back and enjoy that dessert shall we?

Sunny Piecing!

 Yee Haw! Howdy , y'all!   

Sunny Rails and Happy Trails is in the works. I have been working on more Scrappy Happy Hourglass Blocks. 

These measure 3 1/2" square. So far 18 blocks have been made. 

I have also worked on the Scrappy Trails and Rails which measure  3 1/2" x 6 1/2" . 

Lots more piecing to be completed before I start to make them into blocks,but work is being done.   

More crumb blocks are being pieced as well. 

I add to them when crumbs magically appear in my sewing bin. Hmmm how does that happen?  

As I work on Sunny Rails and Happy Trails,  I will be dreaming of Mr. Pinker and I hitting the trail ,  exploring and meandering about. 

Aaah maybe here soon Mr. Pinker and I will hitch up the old wagon and hit the trail but for now I will just dream.

Hours on End!

A,B,C's  and 1, 2, 3!!!!

Well hello there ,Sweet Sunshine! Welcome!  Please do come in and join me. Melva at Melva Loves Scraps has me reminiscing of days long ago with her Pieces of My Life SAL. 

Over the weekend,  I worked on  Block 6 called  "Hours" which Melva posted in her May 2, 2024  post.  

I chose a pretty array of country prints for the Hours block.

Hmmm Hours? Melva asked how did you spend your hours as a youth? Chores , reading , TV, and playtime? 

 Can you guess how I spent my time? Yep playing school!!!!

I along with one of my sister would gather up our dolls and play school for hours on end.

 We each had our own classroom of pupils who were quite studious. The only thing-- they were all named Annie or Andy. Hee! Hee!  I loved my rag dolls. 

Four pretty four patches waiting to be pieced into the Hours block. 

We would pull out lots of old books that were gifted to us or found at yard  sales. 

And of course there was always Golden books for the pupils to read. 

All of the units are ready to pieced together. 

My sister and I were quick to  make assignments. We even made our own grade cards for the raggedy students. 

Well here are some of the students  with the "Hours" Quilt block. Didn't it turn out just lovely? 

One of my favorite "school toys" to play with was the chalkboard. 

Did you have an easel chalkboard as a child? 

And I must not forget the Fisher Price School house and bus!

This Sumit adding machine is  my newest vintage thrifty  find that I thought the youngins would love playing with. It is from the 1950's . The boys have already learned how to add and multiply on the machine! It is quite a clever piece.
