Late Evening Stitching

Good evening, ya'll and a very Happy Monday. Having been away for a few days, I have not had time to post , but I have been stitching  and quilting.

My newest Christmas finish is Mistletoe Kisses  which is a 2022 freebie from Silver Creek Sampler.

On Friday, dear Joan and I started our Farmhouse Friday SAL . I began a little farmhouse sampler.

On Saturday , I worked on a new sampler . I hope this one will fit in an 8 " x 10" frame.

Thank you so much for all of the kind compliments on last week's post about A Cold Winter's Day.  Ya'll are as sweet as can be. 😘🤗

A Cold Winter's Day- Dot''s Saltbox

I have been bound and determined to make a lot of progress on my Grandma's Love quilt which I showed you last week.

This past week  I quilted 10 1/2 blocks .

Hmmm ! Do you know what this pattern is called?

I have 23 1/2 more blocks to go.

I love the teeny scraps of fabrics in each piece.

Such pretty feedsacks and shirtings used.

I will continue quilting on this quilt this week. I hope to at least get  9 more blocks completed.

On Embroidery Thursday, I completed the January Snowman doodle that I shared last week. I think it is a cutie patootie. What do you think?

  3. I'm interested in the history of Grandma's Love quilt. Is this one that you are making, one from a quilt shop or one handed down? I love seeing the history of quilts.

    1. Oh thank you so much, Donna. My hubby bought the top for me for my birthday a few months ago. He purchased it at a little antique store in Georgia. I would love to know more about it. It is such a joy to see how the quilter pieced the teeniest of scraps together so lovingly. A lot of the red corner blocks are pieced from scraps of red too which I adore. There is one faded red block which I think I will be quilting this week. I am so happy that you asked about it, Donna. I am like you- I love knowing a little about quilts especially old ones.

  7. Melisa, your posts fill me with warmth and happiness as I look at what you're doing, and yes, I still love that snowman! I may make him a warm up piece to do to get my hands going on my CQ project. Thanks for the link to the XS. I don't do it, but I posted the site on my QuiltBOM list, and maybe someone else will like her designs as much as I do who DOES do XS. There were many I liked, and I didn't think they were badly priced.

    1. You are the sweetest, Susan and you brought a smile to my evening,. Thank you so much for always being so positive and supportive. That really means the world to me. I do appreciate you spreading the word on the cross stitch. I just got into it a few years ago. Sometimes it is a challenge to juggle more than one hobby, but it is oh so much fun. Lol. Happy quilting.

  10. Your grandmother's quilt may be a one-of-a-kind that she designed on her own in order to use those lovely scraps! She was very creative for sure :)

  12. Oh thank you so much, Sandra. I truly appreciate the sweet visit and the kind compliment and I am very honored that you have stitched some of my humble designs and made pin pillows. Aren't they fun to tuck here and there? I think the pillow finish is one of my favorites. The framed house stitch is called Winter Trio from Waxing Moon Designs. She has all kinds of trios. I just stitched them all as one piece. I think I separated each house leaving 3 stitches between them. I believe it is still available on 123 stitch. I am hoping one day to get all of the seasons and holidays stitched. . Thank you again for the kind words of encouragement; I can not tell you how much that means to me. Have a wonderful weekend.
