The rain has set in, and the flowers are happy.

Good afternoon, y'all and a lovely evening to you. Two posts in a day? Aaah why not! ππ
To my surprise, we did get a number of showers today. That gave me a break from watering all of the flowers which was so nice. Between showers, I was able to go outside and take a few snapshots of what was going on in the garden. Still wild and woolly , but pretty in my eyes nonetheless.
 |
The hummingbird feeder needs to be filled. Lots of weeds in this garden bed too. |
Little caterpillars dangled precariously from a limb high above.
As a large clump of them ,cling tightly to the branches and leaves.
And the rain continues...
So what's a gal to do, but retreat back into the house and bustle about.
Well actually, I have been working with a new printer / scanner. My old one bit the dust! Boo Hoo!π’π
Not being tech savvy, I have been having some troubles learning the new one. The terminology , the lack of instructions has got me bumfuzzled . Hmm is that a word? π€π I am not for sure, but I sure have been frustrated. π€ͺ
After many hours, I have muddled my way through the process, and I have high hopes that I will be able to share a chart. Be forewarned though, I am not sure how it will come across once posted, but I am trying.
Have I told you lately , how grateful I am for you?! ❤π€ Well I am!
Some of you may have spotted my latest bee finish in my header photo. I have been working my little fingers to the bone to have it finished before the end of summer.
It is called "The Hum of the Bees". "The Hum of the Bees is the voice of the garden. " This is a lovely quote from Elizabeth Lawrence, an American gardener and author.
Click here if you would like to learn a little more about Elizabeth.
My stitched little garden is filled with bee skeps, blooms, bees, and birds. A happy little place indeed.
The Hum of the Bees was stitched on 14 count Aida which I dyed charcoal gray with RIT dye. On 14 count Aida , the design size was 135 W x 106 H which brought it to about 9 5/8" x 7 5/8" . That meant I could pop it in an 8 x 10" frame. Woo Hoo!
There are 14 floss colors in this design which includes: DMC 317, 407, 610, 730, 780, 782, 815, 831, 898, 924, 3371, 3740, 3743, Blanc.
I have trouble printing and sharing large charts. The images do not interpret as well on the computer. ( Remember I am not tech savvy nor a professional designer, but I do love to share . π)
I have provided a little note to refer back to in respect to the placement of the floss colors. I hope this helps.

Well Sweeties, I am off to play with this "blankity blank" printer! Oh please, do excuse my language...ππ LOL, but I know many of y'all understand .
Hmmm perhaps , I will just go sit out on the porch and enjoy the pitter patter of the raindrops. Now that sounds more relaxing doesn't it?
Talk to you later.

πTime to Dye- 2024 post on how I tea/ Coffee Dye my fabric.
My very lengthy comment decided to disappear. Big, big sigh!! I love everything I see - as usual. Have a wonderful evening and show that printer who's boss. LOL Big, big hugs, DarleneJ
ReplyDeleteLOL, Darlene, blogger can sometimes be finicky or maybe its the internet. I know my comments sometimes just vanish as well. Oh I have been several rounds with that printer. I think I finally am getting the hang of it. I just need to make notes so I will remember. Hee! Hee! Rainy day hugs.
DeleteI wish we could get some good rainy days--we are in a drought here in SE CT. Our grass is turning to hay before our eyes...We are in a little corner where the sea breezes push the rain up North more often than not...;(((
ReplyDeleteThe Hum of the Bees is so pretty and I like that quote a lot, Melisa...
Hugs, Julierose
I thought of you as it rained today, Julierose. I do wish I could send you some of our rain. It was nice outside when the mosquitoes were not on the attack. It is always a hit or miss here in respect to rain or snow. The mountains seem to block a lot of it. Thank you for the sweet afternoon visit. Hugs.
DeleteWe have rain coming in a couple of days. . .I hope it arrives as we could use the moisture. It has been hot here! (in the upper 90s!) What a sweet stitchery! I love your wording. ..the hum of the bees! Hang in there regarding the technology. You might even find that there are some easier shortcuts!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteOh I do hope that it cools things down for you, Terry. I was not really expecting it to rain so much , but it was nice. I stayed up late last night working on the printer as did hubby and of course had some rounds with the printer today. I think I am getting the hang of it slowly. I am hoping my grandsons will come over this week and maybe show me some shortcuts. The kiddos know how to do anything . LOL . Have a wonderful evening. Hugs
DeleteIsn't it great to have the rain water your plants instead of having to water them! I love your garden, it is like fairy-land.
ReplyDeleteOh it is, Linda. Usually I have to pull out 2 hoses and water the gardens in sections. It was nice to have mother nature do it and the plants were a lot happier. Thank you for dropping by. Hugs.
DeleteSummer rain is definitely welcome! You got some lovely photos of it, Melisa. I love The Hum of the Bees - so pretty! I've been lucky to see lots of bees around my marigolds, too. That one's going to have to go on my list - thank you for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteOh how wonderful, Diann. I love hearing that the bees are happy and are enjoying your flowers. Have you had any birds or butterflies come to your sunflower yet? The rain was certainly welcomed. I have high hopes we will see more tomorrow. Hugs and blessings.
DeleteI feel the same as you about this techy stuff! Your new stitchy is so cute!
ReplyDeleteLOL Vicki, I am glad I am not the only one that has a love/ hate relationship with techy stuff. For some reason , it is just hard for me to comprehend some of the terminology and steps to take. I will have the grandsons walk me through some of it this weekend. LOL. Hugs and Blessings.
Deletegood morning amazing Melisa.
ReplyDeletei didn't realize you had an afternoon post until this morning. yahoo!!!! i am gifted with two posts and a cross stitch freebie to boot. i have hit the lottery all because of you sweet Melisa. The Hum of the Bees has been printed and is sitting waiting for a stitch out. yep - i guess you can say i am a true collector of cross stitch patterns. when i die my friend is going to have lots and lots of work ahead of her. i'm so sorry Debbie A.
i bet you enjoyed that rain so much. i wish we would get some rain here. it is dry as a bone. i don't like it one bit. i do hope we get some rain this fall/winter. do you get snow where you are? i'd love to live in a location that has snow. when i was young i grew up (born in california, moved to connecticut when i was four, returned to california when i was 12, and here i stayed) in connecticut and remember making snow angels. it was the absolute best. i also remember a not so fun time. i was very small when i was young (oh bring those days back please) and i walked to the school bus (yes school buses back then - loved it) and there was always one boy - Leroy White (why is it i remember him so well) - who would bombard me with snowballs. how dare he? eventually he would stop because i would start crying. the day came when he didn't do it anymore at all. heaven!!! ah!!! you always bring back the reminiscing in me!!!
have a wonderful, blessed day Melisa. you're the best!!! such a sweet, sweet lady with a love that brightens the world.
blessings and love are coming your way Melisa.
a great big squeezy bear hug, too.
Debra Broyles
Aww I wish I was around , I would have got a hold of ole' Leroy. Hee! Hee! Me and you both could have showed him "what for" and then you would have been running from flying snowballs. How rude of him. We used to ride the school bus too. In the mornings, we would always make sure we got the front seats. In the evenings , the back . Everybody wanted the back seats for some reason . But my sisters , cousins and I were quick as a wink running for the back. LOL. We ever so often get snow here, but usually the mountain keeps it off of us. But if snow is in the forecast-even just one snowflake our schools close because we do not know how to drive in the snow. LOL. Aaah I am so honored that you printed out The Hum of the Bees . I hope you it in the future. I think we are 2 peas in a pod about collecting. I like collecting too- well I know you already knew that. LOL. But it is fun just to look through quilt books and cross stitch patterns and dream isn't it? Thank you for making my day special, sweet Debra. Big hugs from the rainy holler.
DeleteIt’s a good job you can remember how to use blogger, I can’t. Saw this in your header first, so lovely to find the pattern later. I will sew it if I can find time, it’s lovely! Thank you so much for the pattern. π€πππ♀️ Barbara xx @Flashinscissors xx
ReplyDeleteLOL, Barbara, if I did not piddle with blogger everyday, I would not remember myself. Thank you for the sweet visit and hope you enjoy it in the future. Hugs and Blessings.
DeleteOh, technology...always something new to mess with our peace and sanity, isn't there? I would choose the porch and listening to the rain. That would be such a welcome sound. We haven't had rain in what seems forever. Thank you for such a lovely stitch. So, so pretty. The clumping of so many caterpillars was sort of interesting and sort of creepy. What would cause that to happen? Maybe they all just hatched? Hmmm....
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, Ginny. Technology is just not my forte. I had to walk away from the printer several times. I agree those caterpillars were sorta creepy. I have never seen them do this in all the years here. I am going to go back to the edge of the woods and see if they are still there. It was interesting. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteTechnology is supposed to make our lives easier but most times...it is just frustrating! Hum of the Bees is an adorable chart. I believe I'll add it to next year's list for the bee display. Thank you, as always, for sharing your gift!
ReplyDeleteOh I agree, Jeanna. The printer's set up instructions were minimal. I like things well explained so I was grinding my teeth the whole time I was working with it. Aaw I am so touched that you will be adding this to your future stitch list. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Warm hugs
DeleteHorray for me, I never pass a free bee.....thank you so much and I never have any issues printing your patterns or saving them....I am about to start a haunted house by Witchy Stitch "A stitcher haunts here" for halloween. In the same WIP bag I have your beautiful Berry Bouquet and Blooms of Sunshine which I hope to work on also at the same time. I will be coop up with this heat we are having and wildfires in New Brunswick CANADA. We need alot of rain in the Atlantic provinces. Have fun with your quilties.....THANK YOU AGAIN. vivian
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, Vivian you have so many wonderful projects to stitch. I am so honored that you have added some of mine to your stitching list. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Oh I do hope that you get some relief from the heat soon. I wish I could send you some of the rain. Do stay safe from the fires as well. It is always frightening to hear about the summer wildfires. Have a wonderful day, dear and Happy stitching . Hugs.
DeleteLove your new stitch, Melisa! Thanks for keeping us going with stitcheries! Raining here too and supposed to the tomorrow and Friday as well. Have a great rest of your rainy week! Hugs.
ReplyDeleteYah for the rain. I was wondering if you were getting some too. I have been following it go through certain areas of AL. Hopefully , it has cooled things off in your neck of the woods and not made it too muggy. Thank you for the sweet visit . Hugs.
DeleteIf you did not get a user manual with your printer you can always Google your printer model and find it and print it out. I really enjoy your blog . tfs Marie
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Marie; you are the sweetest! I will do that. The instructions for set up were minimal and there was no user manual . I will definitely do what you suggest; it will make things a lot easier as I move forward. Have a blessed day. Warm hugs.
DeleteI love your energy. You inspire me - love your garden. I have so many weeds can’t keep up - but weeds are green
