May Day is a Great Day!

Happy May Day , my friends.
Will you be dancing around the May Pole today? I would if I had one, but instead I will be playing in dirt and planting a few flowers  to celebrate the day .

Saturday I planted a few marigold seeds. Zinnias and cosmos will be next.

I am so excited!!!!😀🤗 Look at this adorable mini quilt that I won in a sweet gift away from Melva at Melva Loves Scraps !!!❤❤❤

She created 9 small quilts and gifted them for her birthday and I was a lucky recipient.  I fell in love with this one as soon as I saw it.  I was drawn to the words " Dream , Believe,  Hope and Trust" Thank you so much, Melva for all that you do for our community.

A May Berry Basket Doodle just for you.

Each block is stitched  on a 7 1/2 squared piece of fabric and then trimmed it to 6 1/2" . The block is then framed  with 2" strips .

Have you been stitching along with Joy on the free Spring  Mystery SAL  hosted by Joy at Days Filled with Joy   ? Friday's stitch was seed packets!!!! Are those not the cutest?

If you missed any of the steps, the links to Joy's SAL is below.  Thank you so much, Joy!!!
On Friday, Joy will share the fourth motif in the SAL. My mind is swirling with ideas of what it could be. I do love a good mystery.

Now onto the plans for the week.

  2. You are really yanking at me -- I recently completed an embroidery and found out how much I really like to do hand embroidery. And, you, enabler extraordinary, have given me not one but two different projects I could be doing. I'm trying to be strong but it isn't working very well. I think I'll download the project directions and see if I truly succumb. Thanks for your generosity. Happy May Day!

  11. Hi Melisa! Congratulations on Melva's beautiful mini - she does such nice work. You are planting my favorite flower seeds - I love marigolds, zinnias, and cosmos! For some reason my cosmos are always huge bushes with few flowers - maybe not enough sun? Your zinnias will be so pretty!

    1. Aaw thank you so much, Linda. I was so surprised and thrilled to receive one of Melva's beautiful mini quilts. I agree she does amazing work. I have to confess, marigolds, zinnias and cosmos are the only flowers that I can really grow successfully here. I bet your cosmos are so pretty. The finches are after mine just as soon as they bloom. Lol. Have a great week.

  12. Digging in the dirt, ie planting seeds, is good for the soul, isn't it? Less and less will be done at this house as it is harder and harder to get down to ground level. So I will revel in all the pretty flowers planted by others and shared here in Blogland! I'll be watching for your cosmos and zinnias to bloom later in the summer.

    1. Oh it is Judy. I have always enjoyed gardening, but I have got to where I put a lot of my flowers in pots for easier access. The cosmos and zinnia will be in a little bed though. I look forward to their blooms each year. Have a blessed week and thank you for the sweet visit.

  16. Thank you for the sweet doodle for May, Melisa! The mini you won has some great affirmations! Something to stick up within sight to keep in mind all day. I have a couple of those above my sewing machine. In the picture with the flower seed packets, did I see a little applique flower block resting on the trowel? Is that one of your designs? Very pretty!

    1. Aah you are so welcome, Ginny . I enjoyed working on the May doodle. Oh yes that little appliqued flower is one that I created about 10 years ago. I got hooked on making little quilts the size of trading cards. It was a great way to use up little scraps too. Have a great week, Ginny and thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs
