Hazel Ewe - A Halloween Freebie

Good afternoon, ya'll. Today I hit the road looking for yard sales.

Woo Hoo!  I did find a few. I didn't make a grand haul, but I  found a few things here and there.

Turkey salt and pepper shakers, a basket,  candleholders and some placemats. It was nice to get out and enjoy the day.

Once I got home, I immediately began FFOing my Hazel Ewe.

She has been hanging in the Quilt Nest just waiting to be finished , and after much cackling or should I say baaing,  she convinced me today was the day!

Hazel is a sweet little ewe who has several sisters, including Erin Ewe  , Betsy Ewe, and Summer Ewe.  She has more too, but these are the ones you have met so far.

Let me tell you! Hazel  is a character and just loves Halloween ! Why she has even nestled herself into a  witches hat and is  sporting one herself. I wonder what kind of spells she has brewing in her mind?🤔 Little Hazel has  a pumpkin quilt draped over her back for those cool Halloween nights when she goes out haunting.  I would rather have a quilt than  a black cape too.

She is a small measuring 33 x 47 . I stitched mine of 14 count coffee/ tea dyed aida and that brought her to about 2 3/8" x 3 3/8" .

I finished mine on a 4" square paper mache' unfinished box that I painted black. I purchased the box from the Dollar Tree. After painting it, I roughed up the box with a little sandpaper , added some torn gingham and polka dot fabric strips and glued on some Dollar Tree buttons.

Hazel is finished on a piece of 3 1/2" square foam board with 2 layers of batting. I added a torn holiday ruffle as trim.

If you would like to stitch Hazel, please check out the pdf's below.

Many of you know , but I always like to leave this little disclaimer.

I stitch my little designs for fun and to decorate my home. I feel very blessed by this community and love sharing my little charts, but I am not a professional designer. And I do not have professional software. Thank you for understanding that I  have to put each page on separate pdf downloads because of the devices I use. I apologize for that.  And I am always grateful for your kind encouragement , your visits, and stitching my little designs.

My week has been a busy one. I have been pulling out Halloween items and rearranging things. Also trying to give the place a good cleaning to lessen the work come Christmas time.

Have you seen the cute different colored bottle brush trees at Walmart in the Christmas section?  This one was an autumn color just perfect to put on display for Halloween.

Well I have rambled enough but I do want to end by telling you how much I appreciate you stopping by for a visit today. I hope you are ready for an awesome weekend. As always...

Happy Stitching, ya'll

A Whole Lot of Fall Country Clutter- a Fall Hutch Tour

Good afternoon, my dear friends. Are you interested in a dose of fall country clutter? 🍂🍂🍂😆😀🍂🍂🍂  Oh, I hope so!
My hutch is crammed full of fall goodness. Now remember, I am no minimalist so every nook and cranny has a bit of pumpkin spice sprinkled on it. ( Please overlook any dust bunnies sprinkled amongst the fall goodness- Hey, I got stitching to do! - Just saying. Lol)

I started off with the plates- all the shelves have thrift store and Dollar Tree plates as a back drop.
Let's look at the top shelf.

In the corner is a Walmart wooden mason jar I purchased last year.  Next to it sitting in a little punch cup is Rosie's Pumpkins .

"Happy Fall, Ya'll" is a little print out displayed on a darling milk can gifted to me by my sweet friend , Sue. I just love it.  .

The Pumpkin Patch sign is another Dollar Tree find form 2020 .Love the Dollar Tree- Speaking of Dollar Tree- Did you hear that not they are making changes and not everything is going to cost a dollar? Bummer.  😒😏

Oh well, back to the hutch tour.  In the corner of  the top shelf is an old Dollar General truck candle, and I just plopped a pumpkin in the back .

From hubby's old scrap pile, I grabbed a piece of wood and painted a sign for Fresh Baked Pumpkins. Love those no cost crafts. Don't you?

On the 2nd shelf, I left my vintage juicer in the corner. I changed out the bowl to an orange Dollar Tree bowl and tucked in a pumpkin pillow.

This little pillow is called Little Quaker Pumpkin and is a freebie on the Stitchy Fish Designs blog in the September 12, 2016 post. It was a super fun stitch that I completed last year.

Tucked in a little white pitcher which was gifted to me by my sister is a  little pumpkin sampler. Is this Heart in Hand Designs? I can not remember. Lol.

And of course center stage is my Dollar General truck and camper. I am always on the look out for anything truck or camper related.

The bottom shelf is filled with mostly Dollar Tree items from last year.

However front and center is my Better Homes and Garden Pie dish that mom got me years ago for my birthday. I always display it for fall along with the Pumpkin Pie tin.

In the corner is some Dollar Tree signs stacked on thrifted plates. The little teeny red hurricane lanterns were gifts from my sister, Amy, two weeks before her passing. She gave me one and could not find the other. Later, her hubby brought me the 2nd one. They will always be treasured.

On top of my vintage scales is a gifted plate from my sister. It is filled with gingham Dollar Tree pumpkins and a free prim pumpkin stitch.

Another design that escapes my memory . If you know who it is by , please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it.

Tucked under the scale is my Crow Creek Mini Quilt which I shared last year.

Just click the name and you will find your way back to that post where you can find the doodles and how I made this little quilt. It matches with my Crow Creek Saltbox.

Well that is it in a pumpkin shell! Now all of this has to come down because today I am putting up Halloween! Cats, Jacks and witches brew. Oh my!  I hope you will pop back in when I do my Halloween Hutch tour and see what this witchy lady has been up too. 😀 Thank you so much for the sweet visit and as always...
Happy decorating, ya'll

So Whatcha Working On?

Happy Slow Stitching Sunday, ya'll. Do you have your project all picked out and ready to work on? I have several things in my workbasket to keep me occupied for the day.  How about you?

First , off a Halloween stitch.

Did you know that Pine Needle Quilt Shop is hosting a free Stitch Along for the month of October just like they did last Christmas?
This one is a Halloween stitch and a design is given each day. It is free all the way up until November 1st ,and then the designs will be available  for purchase.
So I have began the border and  completed Day 2's design called "Eek".  I will be printing off Day 3's design  here shortly. I can not wait to see what it is. Hope you check them out.

My 2nd project is a sampler.

I having been working on a little band sampler for about a week,  and I believe I am a little over half way finished unless I decide to make some changes.

Yesterday , I worked on this Winter Stitch. I think it will be finished today.

I have to admit. Little has been going on in respect to the quilting front- but hopefully I will remedy that .
This week I have worked on some butterfly blocks. I have over a  hundred of these applique pieces that someone gave away to the Goodwill.
I can not imagine cutting them all out. I was doing a happy dance when I picked up several bags of these butterflies all cut out in vintage fabrics. I will certainly be able to make several quilts in the future.
Two blocks down and 10 more to go for the quilt I have in mind.

I have also been working on the Pennies From Heaven blocks for my sister's quilt.

 Block 2 is complete.

Block 3 is on the agenda this week.

What else is on the agenda? Hmmm .  Halloween decorating!!🎃👻👺 I crawled up into the attic last night and tugged and lugged on totes .
Luckily, Mr. Pinker was able to pull  them on down the stairs. "How many years are you going to be climbing up in the attic? " he asked. "I guess from now on as long as I want to decorate," I said. Lol.

Other finishes that I have worked on in the last couple weeks have been Autumn's Saltbox and....

"Eek! It's a Spider" which I shared yesterday.  Also...

I fully finished my Pumpkins stitch into a little pillow. Little scraps of orange fabrics, ribbon and some big cross stitches finished this little piece into a pillow .

So tell me what do you have on the agenda for the day.
Thank you so much for stopping by, ya'll and hope to chat with you later... as always...
Happy stitching and quilting, ya'll

Eek!!!! A Spider! A Halloween Freebie

            The Spider crawls

            Eight legs and furry,

             Better get out

              In a hurry!!!

Eek! If I see a spider, you will see me scurry!  How about you? Happy  Saturday, ya'll. Can you believe it is October already ?  There is 29 days till Halloween . Are you going to be getting your spook on?

Today I thought I would share my first Halloween stitch for the season. Eek! It is spider.   Where I have always pulled out jack o lanterns, black cats, and crows for my  Halloween decor, my sister, Amy always pulled out spiders and webs for her initial Halloween decorating. Not because she loved spiders , but when dad built her house on the farm years ago, the first critter to get in her house was a brown recluse spider! And oh yes she got bit!!! 🕷🕸🕷 It was a nasty bite too. So for Halloween,  the faux spider webs came out first for Amy ; she had a good sense of humor. Lol I can not tell you how much my nieces hated to see her spider decor.  And  over the years , she has rubbed off on me, and l  have even added a few spiders to my Halloween decor now. 😀🕷🎃

Now let's start out with some advice from a sweet spider named Charolette:

                             ADVICE FROM A SPIDER

                            Make good connections

                                Be web savvy.

                            Patience pays off.

Let go of your hang ups.

                            Show your artistic side.

                            Do your best.

                            Don't get strung out!

I think I can handle that. How about you?

This is a small stitch measuring 40 x 40 . I stitched mine on 14 count coffee/ tea dyed aida , but I wish I had stitched it on another color- gray,  orange or even green . Any of those would look amazing?  Hmmm. Should I do a restitch? Maybe.

I used 4 DMC colors. - 310, white, 720 and 470.

If you would like to add a spider to your Halloween decor, just check out the pdfs below and my little disclaimer.

Speaking of spiders. I thought I would share my little quilt I created years ago for my girls. I simply took a green piece of fabric and added a spider borders. I then took a heavy thread and created a spider web. Easy peasy. The final step was to add glow in the dark spider rings to it. It is always fun to hang up at Halloween time.

Have a fabulous weekend, my friends and watch out for spiders!!! As always...

Happy Stitching, ya'll,
