Whatcha Ma' Call It Block

Rise and Shine, Sweet Peas!!!!! Grab a mug of your favorite beverage and  a few fabrics .

Let's head to the quilt room to work on a block- I am calling it the Watcha Ma Call It Block. It's an easy peasy lemon squeezy block, but oh so cute!

I have 3 fabrics chosen though a scrappier look would look amazing as well.

Below is the instructions for just 1 block. I strip pieced some of my units to make it even quicker.

🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵

         INSTRUCTIONS FOR ONE BLOCK
UNFINISHED SIZE 15 1/2"

FINISHED SIZE 15"

CUTTING

From RED FABRIC - Cut 2  strip  2" X WOF ( width of fabric)

From WHITE FABRIC- Cut 2 strip 2" X WOF ( width of fabric)

From BLUE FABRIC- Cut 9 -   3/12"x 3 1/2" squares

DIRECTIONS ( Use 1/4" seam allowance)

1. Placing right sides together , take a  Red and  a White  2" strips and sew down the length of the strip. Press toward red.  REPEAT for the other red and white strips.

2. From this unit Subcut  4- 3 1/2 " squares  AND 4  9 1/2" strips.  ( You will have a fabric left over. )

3. Arrange 5 of the blue squares and the 4  RED/WHITE squares which was created in STEP 2 into a 9 patch as shown below. Piece and Press .

Now is it just me or isn't that nine patch  just as cute as a button ?

4. Now take your remainder blue squares and your 9 1/2" strips and arrange around the nine patch as shown.  Piece and Press

5. Wahlah!!! Your Watch ma Call It Block is complete. 😀 You know what that means don't ya? Get up and do the Happy Dance!!!! Come on  you know you want to!!!

🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵

Alrighty Sweeties,  now I have a question. What is the real name of this block?  This ole' gal does not have a clue.  I saw it on Pinterest and made up my own measurements .I will be making 10 blocks  to go along with 10 applique blocks I am working on.

Thank y'all so much for joining me in the quilt room today.  I  guess I better get on the stick and finish the other 9 blocks. If ya ' want to stick around, just grab the rotary cutter, and I will grab the ruler and we will go to town cutting up a storm.

On a Mission!

Howdy Do, Sweet Friends and a very Happy Sunday to you! It's Slow Sunday Stitching time. Time to relax to the rhythm of a needle and thread in hand. Do you have your project already picked out and ready to work on?

My needle will be rocking to the sweet melody of which ever birdies decide to visit my bird feeders.

A Sweet visitor to my garden

My plan is to continue working on "Darlene's Quilt" while sitting on the porch.

Can you tell this gal is on a mission to finish this quilt?  I sure am!

I drew out a cable design for the border.

Two more borders to go !  This will be my 15 minute a day project for the week.

Yee haw! I have  small  patriotic finish for the week!

I quilted hand drawn stars in the border. I still need to wash out the chalk that I drew them with.

I finished the embroidery work in  Block 1 of the SAY IT WITH FLOWERS QAL with Joy at Days Filled wit Joy. The designs are free for a month. So run don't walk if you want to join in.

Block 1 embroidery completed.

I will be working on Block 2 today.

Click the colored links to join Joy in all of the fun!   Thank you , Joy!

A little  bit of progress has been made on Jeannette Douglas Mini Bouquet Sampler.  I am working on the July Bouquet. I have hopes to add the blue and white flowers today.
Last week's stopping point - April 21, 2024

This week's progress.

The Pink House

Another house is in the works.

Lots of quilted bunnies are still sitting about .Yes, I still have a few Easter items that needs to be put away. 🐇🐰🐇 Now tell me who can resist a family of quilted bunnies? No, not I.

For the last few Sunday's , I have been sharing strawberry charts.

I would be honored if you would take a look at my newest stamp in my growing collection. It is called  called Berries Stamp.
It is a Choose your Own Colors Chart . So use as many or as few colors as you want. 🍓🍓

If you are interested in stitching this piece,  just grab , the images. For printing tips, refer to the post Tips for Printing which has loads of tips from my sweet friends.

Last week, I shared Strawberries and Cream Stamp ...
and in March, I shared Strawberry Shortcake Stamp

I have a lot of finishing to do. I will make these into pin pillows and add trim.
If you would like to grab these charts , just click on the colored text.

I have been brainstorming for more Strawberry Stamp ideas. If I could come up with 9 stamps, then I would make a larger design like I did for the Spring Stamp Collection

I sure would appreciate any help that you could give me.
Do you have any ideas for a strawberry themed stamp that would be great for the collection ?

Well I am off to enjoy some quilting time. The oldest grandson and nephew are in a fishing tournament. So I will have plenty of quiet time to quilt while I wait for them to return.

Remember take time for yourself! Love ya!

As Always...

Darlene's Quilt

A very Sunny Saturday too you!!!

My coreopsis is looking fantastic this year.

Welcome y'all ! This is just a quick "pop in visit" to share my update on "Darlene's Quilt " which I pieced last year.

This quilt was inspired by my sweet friend, Darlene who made a mini version last year.  Hi Darlene!

I just adore this quilt. While camping in Whitney, Texas, I completed the quilting of the body of the quilt.

There were so many beautiful photo opportunities by the lake that I became quite snap happy! 📸📷😀

Now I am on to the border.

I am looking forward to having this quilt finished and on display very soon.
I free hand quilted a pinwheel in each block. The  quilting shows up so nicely which warms my heart.

Thank you , Darlene for the inspiration!

I am so very grateful that you dropped by for a Saturday visit.

I will leave you with a couple of more photos of Darlene's Quilt among the beautiful Texas blooms which were so spectacular!

As Always...

Happy quilting and stitching, y'all

Farm Friday Rambles

A very Moovelous Farm Friday to you, Sweet Peas! Are you ready for  a fantastic weekend? I sure am!!! Do you have any special plans?  Me? Well, Yard sale season is upon us. Maybe Mr. Pinker and I will go out to town to see if there are any to visit.

Elsie says howdy!
Since it is Farm Friday, let's head out to the farm to see what is going on.
Buzz! Buzz! Mr. Pinker has been  busy with the bees; he missed his bees while we were gone on vacation. He hung a new bee trap in hopes to capture a swarm.

We are usually successful in capturing swarms in April.

He has a total of 3 boxes out-  2 on the farms and 1 in the holler.

Yikes! While watching Mr. Pinker, the new gals on the farm saw the gate open. I had to high tail it down the hill to beat them to the gate.

Of course , I got "the look " from   Elsie  . I am sorry gal, but you can not take a stroll down the road.

Elsie and Lily are trying to make their escape!

Aren't the gals the sweetest? They had been on the hill but made their way past Pa Pa's old corral to another pasture.  Of course, Edna was nowhere to be seen . No telling where she was. Hee! Hee!

Oooh .... I have to show you this darling metal sign that I found at Walmart the other day. It was just $3.00 and will be perfect to display with my bee decor or perhaps in the garden.

Well, Sweeties , that is my Friday rambles. Have a wonderful evening and keep those fingers nimble and enjoy some stitching time !!!

As Always...
Happy quilting and stitching, y'all
