Good evening , Sugar Plums! I am posting late today for I have been out and about visiting family . All of the leftovers from the grand Thanksgiving feast are now gobbled up and slowly but surely I have been pulling out the last of the Christmas decorations. I am sure I will tweak things all through the Christmas holiday season.
Ho! Ho ! Ho! Santa shows off a jolly quilt stack.
My kitchen tiered tray is filled to the brim with vintage old world Santas that Mom and I collected in the early 1990's from the Dollar General.
Do you have any of these in your Santas collection?
I have finished appliqueing 8 Christmas Fans.
I will continue working on these throughout the week.

Earlier this week, I worked on another Speaking of Christmas stitch. This one is simply called Santa.
After trimming the cross stitch piece to the desired size, I added two 1 1/2"(unfinished) wide strips to the stitch.
I added a bit of lace.
And... added large wonky stitches along the seam- just doing something a little different.
Finally, it was time to add it to the dough bowl of primitive stitches which I have shared earlier.
If you missed any of the Speaking of Christmas pieces, just click on the links below and you will be magically transported back to the post.

If you are interested in stitching this piece, just grab , the images. For printing tips, refer to the post Tips for Printing which has loads of tips from my sweet friends.

Now onto the plans for the week.
Hmm.... What Should I do This Week?
🌞1. Applique Christmas Fans
🌞2. Finish Block 2 in Moda's Holiday SAL
🌞3. Stitch another Speaking of Christmas piece.
🌞4. Work on Pretty in Peach Butterflies
🌞5. Work on a new house cross stitch
🌞6. Work on Otis Payne Bow Tie quilt
That should keep this ole gal busy . Don't ya think?
I am off to tackle some tasks.
My daughter is having a Christmas movie night for the kiddos along with some snacks based on the movie. How fun is that! I may not have any delicious snacks , but I am sure I can find a great movie to watch while stitching the evening away.
As Always...
Happy Stitching and Quilting,
y'all
Melisa

Your Christmas fans are really pretty, Melisa! And I love the new Santa stitch, too. He looks like one I would enjoy stitching. Enjoy your decorating - I am starting to pull things out, too. I love this time of year!
ReplyDeleteAaw thank you so much, Diann. I have been working on another fan block tonight. I hope to get at least 4 completed this week. Enjoy decking the halls with all of your pretty seasonal decor. Hugs.
DeleteThe fans are wonderful. And, of course I love Santa in the trees. The decorations are always pure perfection. You've got the decor gift, Miz Melisa. I will forever be impressed at how much you achieve. Amazing!!!! Happy, Happy Monday with lots of hugs, DarleneJ
ReplyDeleteAaw shucks, thank you so much, Miz Darlene. Surprisingly , I have not pulled out as many Christmas bins as usual, but I am still working on the decorations. I have had a good evening working on my applique and stitching too. I was thrilled to pieces how the little Santa worked up. Gosh, it is hard that we are entering December. Right? Hope you are having a great evening. Big Hugs and love.
DeleteEverything is beautiful and creative.
ReplyDeleteAaw thank you so much, Linda. You are so very kind. I wish you a lovely week and Happy December. Hugs.
DeleteThose Christmas fans are coming along so well. They are festive! Your finished Santa is adorable! Enjoy decorating. We won't start until after our daughter's birthday which is December 20. We always celebrate her day without a decoration in sight. The following day was a different story!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday, Terry. My Mom used to do the same thing as my sister was a December baby. Thank you so much for the kind words on my Christmas Fans. I just prepped another block. I wish you a lovely day. Hugs.
DeleteYour Christmas decorations look wonderful, Melissa!
ReplyDeleteYou've made great progress with the fans, and that Santa collection is so sweet.
Have a wonderful week!
Hugs from Seville
Aaw thank you very kindly, Isabel . The fans are a relaxing project to work on especially at night when I settle down for some slow stitching. Have a beautiful day. Hugs.
DeleteChristmas decorating is underway here too. Cute cross stitch Santa! Have you read “the House of the Wooden Santa’s”? The author is Kevin Major. We bought it for our daughter when she was young and it is still a family favourite this time of year. Gail at the cozy quilter
ReplyDeleteOh no I have not read that book, Gail. Thank you so much for the recommendation. I will have to search for it. It is such a lovely tradition to bring out a favorite holiday book for the family to enjoy. Have a wonderful week decking the halls and thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteThat Santa is so cute - and goes so well with the others - you sure have an eye for this! Than you for giving it to us. I've bookmarked the Moda stitch along. I may not do it but I sure want it just in case! Blessings.
ReplyDeleteAaw thank you so much, Donna. He was a fun little guy to stitch. I have been working on the next stitch today. I was hoping to have Block 2 in the Moda SAL completed last week , but time got away from me as it often does. Enjoy your week . Warm hugs and Blessings.
DeleteOh I love the new Santa. It's really cute. Your decoration looks wonderful. Xmas deco ist underway here too and for the first time in my life the tree is up!!! Now I have time for all the other things I have in mind. Hope you will have a wonderful pre-christmas time. Hugs, Gabi
ReplyDeleteOh how wonderful, Gail.I do hope you enjoy decking the halls. Once the tree is in place all of the other holiday lovelies seem to fall in place. It is a wonderful time of the year. Thank you for the sweet Monday visit and Happy December. Hugs
DeleteYour Santa cross stitch turned out so pretty, love the fabric strips and lace you added!
ReplyDeleteAaw thank you so much, Linda. It was fun to use strips of fabric that was already cut. It saved me a lot of time and thought too. LOL. Have a lovely day and Happy December. Hugs.
DeleteLoving those Christmas fans, Melisa--so pretty!! I am searching for the right fabric to bind "Sunrise, Sunset"--yup--finished quilting her;)))))))) A bit on the wavy side on the last border though--hoping it will be okay??? I don't know why this is happening lately???
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo--33 cold degrees here today--but nice and sunny...hugs, Julierose
I just knew you would finish quilting Sunrise , Sunset before the end of the year. I bet you are so excited to have it all bound and on display. I am sure the border will be just fine; sometimes mine go awry too but they always work out in the end. . Your quilts are always gorgeous, Julierose. I cannot wait to see your new finish. Brrr now you stay warm and cozy. It is on the cold side here too . Rain will move in this evening. Warm hugs
DeleteI like how you finished Santa. I have Tree Farm and Christmas Tree ones ready to stitch this winter.
ReplyDeleteAaw thank you so much, Vicki. I sure hope that you enjoy the stitches. It is an honor that you have added them to your Winter stitching list. I was trying to use just what I had on hand with the Santa . I kept out some of the scraps just in case I can incorporate them in the next finishes. Have a blessed day. Hugs.
DeleteOld and old-looking Christmas decorations are so charming. You make wonderful decor items and place them so beautifully! Thank you for all the designs you share so generously.
ReplyDeleteAaw thank you so much, dear; you are so very sweet. I have to admit that I am very nostalgic and enjoy all things old and vintage especially if they remind me of family members. I wish you a blessed day and a Happy Christmas holiday season. Hugs.
DeleteYou are going to be busy. A weekly list would help keep me focused. I don't have any of the Santas; there isn't a Dollar General near me, but I shop when I see one LOL. I have a set of ceramic Santas my aunt made in the 1990's and early 2000. She is no longer with us, so they are special to me. Your decorations are looking good - I can't wait to see when you give a tour. You have some beautiful quilts under construction. The Speaking of Christmas designs are adorable - I love Santa. Thanks for the post and Santa design. Alicia
ReplyDeleteAaw I bet your ceramic Santas are just gorgeous and a treasure since they were made by your aunt. Anything handmade is always the best. Don't you agree? I bet they bring back many fond memories when you put them out on display each year. Oh, I am trying to stay busy, Alicia, but I have the tendency to get sidetracked like we all do. LOL. I wish you a wonderful and productive week. Happy December. Hugs.
DeleteAnother wonderful delightful post! And I had to not look too closely at those pretty fans of yours. I am Dresden fan mad and would definitely want to make some! Happy Stitching!!
ReplyDeleteOh Jocelyn, this is my 1st attempt at making the Dresden fan blocks. I bought the completed fans at the thrift store many many years ago and was so intimidated by them. They are turning out to be a fun project and quite addictive so I can see why you would mad over Dresdens . LOL. Thank you for the sweet Monday visit. Hugs.
Deletegood morning beautiful Melisa.
ReplyDeletehow are you doing? sounds like with all the food that was eaten you need your comfy stretchy pants. i love it. family life. i grew up in connecticut and i remember all the kitchens in the homes were the biggest room in the house because that's where the family would gather for birthdays, holidays, etc. such happy memories. i miss my kids so much. i wish they all lived closer. i see my daughter, Angela, quite a bit, but i would love to see her and my granddaughter, Amanda, a lot more. i miss my grandsons. the holidays and birthdays don't feel the same. i want to be 10 again. ah, wouldn't that be heaven.
thank you, thank you, thank you, young lady for the amazing Santa stitch. i love it. i have all the patterns collected and they are going to be worked on first. am i correct that there are four patterns so far in the speaking of santa series? i don't want to miss any of it. you are so creative and so energetic. how in the world do you have time to prepare hutches, fill your tiered trays, quilt, cross stitch, cook, travel on thrifting adventures, take care of animals, geez!!! it makes me tired just thinking of all you do. i guess that's the answer to staying young. you are amazing!!!
i hope you have nice weather and that the film is fun. just spending time with your daughter and grandbabies makes everything fun!!! does Mr. Pinker participate in all the fun activities?
have a wonderful, blessed day sweet Melisa. you're the best!!!
blessings and love are on the way to you. coming along is a great big squeezy bear hug, too!!!
Debra Broyles
Good afternoon, dear Debra and Happy Happy December. I hope you had a great weekend. Oh yes, we had a wonderful Thanksgiving spread. Now it is back to greens and beans . Hee! Hee! I agree to be young again would be wonderful. But at least we have our memories. It sounds like you had large family gatherings at the table when you were young like we did. I completely understand about missing family members who do not live as close as we would like. I know you cherish every minute with them when you see them like I do mine. Well I just finished working on stitch 5 today in the Speaking of Christmas series. I will post it on Sunday if all goes as planned. It is supposed to be a rainy evening here so I expect I will settle down to work on my quilt and then my stitching here in a bit. The grandbabies will be here shortly though so I gotta get in some hugs. LOL. I wish you a beautiful day, Sweetie. Big hugs from a rainy holler.
DeleteI like your Christmas fan quilt. I like that you have seasonal projects to work on. Thanks for sharing in the Sew & Tell party. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteAaw thank you so much, Melva. These have been waiting in the wings for years so it is good to finally get to this project. Perhaps it will be a 2026 finish. Fingers crossed. Have a blessed and beautiful day. Hugs.
DeleteLots of holiday happiness happening in your corner of the world.
ReplyDeleteAww thank you so much, Tammy. Can you tell that I am super excited about Christmas this year? LOL. I wish you the most lovely month of December. Hugs and Blessings.

Good afternoon, sweet Dianet and Happy December. I hope you have been having a very lovely day. Oh yes, I have always loved collecting Santas. My mom gave me her collection a few years ago which made me one happy gal. LOL. I wish you a very lovely day and I hope you enjoy the little Santa. Big hugs.
DeleteI bet those jolly Santas are driving you crazy with their noisy "ho ho hoing" all the time.
ReplyDeleteLOL they do, Jenny :) But what a happy sound they make. Hee! Hee! Happy December . I hope your week is off to a very lovely start. Thank you for the giggles and sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteThe Santa is a nice addition to your bowl of Speaking of Christmas stitcheries. Adding the lace is a nice touch!
ReplyDeleteLove all your decorations. I don't think I have a Santa Collection. I do have the Manger scene my mom had as a girl - I need to get that out!
ReplyDeleteLove the fan quilt. Thank you for the latest Santa stitch. So pretty. The finishing is really nice. I grew up hearing the last quote you wrote directed at me. "Yes, Virginia, there is a...." Haha
ReplyDeleteI am really loving your Christmas Fan quilt. The Santa pillow sure did turn out sweet as can be. Melisa, you are amazing at all you accomplish AND share with us. Thank you again and again and again!
ReplyDeleteVery cute Santa cross stitch. I love the Santa doll. Did you make him? Is there a pattern?
ReplyDeleteYour Santa collection is really cute. Very fun new stitchery. I haven't even touched my holiday decorations, hopefully I'll get to that this weekend once all the laundry from our trip is done.
ReplyDeleteCute cross stitch, Melisa. And, I love your Christmas fans. Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings. Hugs, B
