Good morning from the ole' farmstead. How are you doing on this lovely Wednesday morning?
Cows are being moved from one section of the farm to the other.
We are getting ready for the winter season. Bev is one of our favorites. She is as smart as a whip.

Do you remember Big Bad Brad who was as gentle as a lamb? Well he has been sold to another farm. A new bull will arrive in months to come.

In the Bee Yard, the bees are doing great. Mr. Pinker says one hive is as mean as a bunch of rattlesnakes, but he enjoys working with all of the hives.
Edna says "Howdy". It has been a spell since you have seen a close up of her. She has a soft spot in my heart.
Back at home, a new little quilt is completed and ready to be displayed for these last few days of the fall season.
By the way if you are interested in the little "Gobbler" in the background drop back by around noon . He is my latest freebie- in the Mason Jar Series. Anywooo...
A few years ago, I worked on this simple wool applique using clothing from the thrift stores.
I drew out the motifs wiley niley and used the buttonhole stitch to applique them down.
The background fabric is an old shirt.
I framed the block using fabrics from more shirts creating a little churn dash.
It did not take long to bind this little quilt.
Now since this fall project is done, I am on to the next little quilt. I am not sure which one will go into the hoop next.
Thank you for taking a stroll with me on the farm today and for looking at my little quilt.
See ya' later! 🤗

I am joining these lovely ladies' link parties. I hope you check them out; they always have so many wonderful projects going on and provide the opportunity for other needleworkers to meet.

Fabulous critters - the real ones and the ones on the little quilts. Oh, wait the ones in the jars, too. LOL Happy, happy Wednesday. Lots of hugs, DarleneJ
ReplyDeleteAaaw thank you so much, dear Darlene. All of the critters are doing good on the farm. It is a busy time of the year that is for sure. I hope you have had a wonderful day. I was able to get some finishing done so I am one happy camper. Hugs.
DeleteYour new little quilt is adorable. So much activity going on at the farm. I just finished stitching a turkey freebie I found. I just need to turn it into a pillow. I find I like stitching more than finishing. I plan on tackling my pile of stitching in the coming year. I love the turkey mason jar and hope you will share it. Have a great Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteAaw well you are staying very busy. I think I am with you- I enjoy the stitching a whole lot more than the finishing. ( You should see my pile of stitches waiting to be finished. Eek! ) Oh yes, the turkey jar was posted this evening. It was a fun little jar to work on. Have a beautiful day. Hugs.

ReplyDeleteSorry I commented twice. The first time it came as anonymous.
ReplyDeleteI bet you will miss Big Bad Brad. I hope the new bull will be a great addition. Miss Edna is a cutie. Your new little quilt is darling, Melisa. Can't wait to meet your turkey in the jar design!
ReplyDeleteOh we will. He was so easy going and gentle. He was a good fit with all of the cows. Isn't Edna a sweetie? She is in better spirits than she was last week when Rodster left. Thank you so much for the kind words on my new little quilt. Have a blessed day. Hugs.
DeleteJust darling little Autumn quiltlet, Melisa--I like the churn dash surround a lot;)))
ReplyDelete32 here and very gray--just the right day for a dental appointment (not!!)!! Fingers crossed--hugs, Julierose
Eek! A chilly day and a dental appointment! I hope all went well, Julierose and you were not in any pain or discomfort. It was in the upper 70's here today. We did get a little rain too. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteYour Autumn little is a cutie! Thrifted fabrics sure made a sweet little piece!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteAaaw thank you so much, Terry. I have a soft spot for using the plaids in men's shirts. I miss the good ole' days when plaids and checks were easily found in the quilt shops around here. Have a blessed day. Hugs.
DeleteI'll miss Big Bad Brad and it is awesome to see that beautiful photo of Edna! I love seeing all your farm and animals. Little Oreo is a cutie too! I've had two Oreos! Life is definitely great when your best memories are from the farm! Have a great day, B
ReplyDeleteGosh, I will too . I hope the next bull will be just as gentle and has a personality as well. LOL. Oreo and her sister, Double stuff are spoiled rotten. They made the decision that they would not be barn cats and spend most of their time at the house. There is nothing like life on the farm . Thank you for the sweet visit, Brenda. Hugs.
DeleteI love the tours of your farm! Bev does look quite intelligent, and will she get along with the new bull do you think? Your thrift store plaids look beautiful with the wool applique in that pretty churn dash! I love Oreo, I bet he is one happy barn kitty. Or is he indoor too?
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Linda. I always look forward for the cows to come down to where I can see them. Bev is a pretty good girl . She doesn't mind getting away from the herd when she wants to be alone. Now we do have one heifer that is sorta ornery . LOL. Oreo is an outdoor cat, but she spends most of her time on the patios, porches and garages. I was sorta surprised to see her at the barn. Have a great evening. Hugs.
DeleteThose animals are living their best life on your farm, Melisa. The little quilt is adorable.
ReplyDeleteThey are certainly a joy and a blessing to have on the farm. We feel very fortunate. Thank you for the kind words on my little quilt. It is good to get it under the belt. Have a blessed day, Jeanna. Hugs.
Deletegood morning sunshine Melisa.
ReplyDeletei hope you day is going well. mine has just gotten started, but i have already accomplished a lot. i think i am going to have a busy day today.
what is gertie going to do without her boyfriend, big old Brad? he had his fun on your farm. he also had a lot of fun with the ladies. Edna is such a beautiful donkey. i just love her. she looks really friendly. how can you not love the beautiful Bev? she is so pretty. her coat is a very shiny brown. she must visit the watering hole quite a bit to stay hydrated and clean. Oreo now he's a lover. he looks like his fur is sooooo soft. a very, very beautiful kitty. does he come in the house on occasion?
i will definitely stop by at noon today. i can't wait to print the amazing Gobble pattern. it is a sure project i want to work on. do you think i'll finish it by thanksgiving? highly unlikely for this year, perhaps by 2027 i'll have it done. if i have it done sooner i'll be sure to let you know.
i love all your photos this morning Melisa. i would give anything to live on a farm and have cows, pigs, donkey's, horses, chickens, kitties, and more. it would make my life heaven, but let's be realistic i would have had to have been on that farm in my 30's. at this age it is not going to happen. too many responsibilities in my home life that demand my attention. i love your photos Melisa. please keep sending them.
i pray you have an awesome Wednesday Melisa. it's going to be a great one.
blessings and love are coming your way. a great big bear hug, too.

Good afternoon, sweet Debra and Happy Happy Wednesday. It was a good day here. We got a spot of rain and it was in the 70's - so a nice day indeed. I spent most of time sewing and finishing a few pieces. Aren't the animals a hoot? Some of them have strong personalities too. Oreo is a patio kitty. She likes to explore the sheds and outbuildings too. I was a bit surprised to see her visiting the barn cats. LOL . Aaw I am so happy that you like my new turkey jar. It took me a spell to finish it but I am glad to have it finished by the holiday. I hope you enjoy it. I hope you are having a good week.I know you have a lot going on and are staying busy , but do take time for yourself , sweet friend. Sending love and hugs.
DeleteHello, Edna! I would love to be there and pet your soft nose. That is a sweet little wool quilt you made, Melisa - I bet it is soft, too. Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteIsn't she a sweetie? Edna is a doll though sometimes she can get in a mood. LOL. I am very happy to have this little quilt finished and up for a few more days. Thank you so much for the sweet visit, Diann. Hugs.
DeleteJust love all your posts. Life on a farm with animals is the best. Love your decorations always and thank you for all the wonderful patterns you share with us.
ReplyDeleteAaaw you are so very kind. I cannot tell you how much that means to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I wish you a lovely evening . Warm hugs and blessings.
DeleteIt's been a wonderful visit to the farm, Melisa!
ReplyDeleteI love Edna, she's my favorite...although Oreo stole my heart!!
Hugs
LOL I think Edna is my favorite as well. I am always on the lookout for her when I go up on the hill to check the animals. We are thrilled to pieces with little Oreo and her sis, Double stuff. They are so precious. Thank you for the sweet visit, Isabel. Hugs.
DeleteI love all the cross stitches and the quilts but I have to say I love the farm posts with the animals the best(Hi Edna!) Annie
ReplyDeleteAaaw shucks , thank you so much, Annie. It warms my heart to hear that you enjoy seeing the animals. They hold a soft spot in my heart especially certain ones like Edna. LOL She is a hoot. Have a blessed day. Hugs.
DeleteOh I just want to kiss Edna on her soft nose! My horse I had as a kid/teen/20-year old just loved that.
ReplyDeleteAaw thank you so much, Kathy. I know Edna would enjoy the attention. She is spoiled rotten. LOL. There is nothing like having horses and donkeys is there? Have a wonderful evening. Hugs.
DeleteI always enjoy a visit to the farm. The Girls are looking fat and sassy. Sad about Brad. Hope they like the new guy in town when he comes to visit. Edna is looking good. Give her a scratch behind her ear for me. Great finish on your little wool wallhanging. Oreo was named perfectly.
ReplyDeleteLOL they are fat and sassy. They have the good life that is for sure. Oh yes, I hope the gals like the new fella when he arrives. Edna was having a good day. She likes to be where all of the action is. I will have to take a photo of Double stuff, Oreo's sister. They are as cute a button. Thank you for the sweet Wednesday visit. Hugs.
DeleteYour mini fall quilt is adorable! Love it, and all the photos of the farm. I never lived on a farm, but it seem idyllic. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.
