Happy as a Clam

Well I am as happy as  a clam!๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜ Mr. Pinker and I went yard saling yesterday and did pretty darn good considering there were not that many people out. The yard sales do not officially begin until Thursday, but there are still early treasures to be found.

Our first stop was at dear lady's home in the next county over. When we arrived, she was sitting on her porch .As soon as I got out of the truck, she got up, and we gave each other a big hug. ๐Ÿค—

"I was just thinking about you, " she said.

 " I wouldn't miss coming to see you. "

With that, we chit chatted for awhile catching up on the goings on and then we got down to business-  me searching for treasures and her selling. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜„

Every year she is the first person I visit.  She always has a nice collection of "down home super cheap goodies".  Right off the bat,  I spotted a darling little  shelf and for five bucks it was mine. That is the most expensive thing I bought all day- like I said I am happy as a clam!

I am so sorry for the dull photo. It has been overcast and gloomy for the last couple of days, But on the bright side, it has been cooler. The shelf needs to be cleaned and repainted; soon it will find a home somewhere in the house.

I will be showing you my other thrifty finds in upcoming posts after I do a whole lot of scrubbing on those thrifty treasures.

Today I will be changing out a few things in my small foyer. You have already seen my  seasonal tree redecorated in sunflowers, but I failed to show you what it looked like in all it's patriotic splendor.

My thrifted little white shelf is filled to the brim with watermelons and a modge podge of thrifted and gifted goodies.

Please excuse any dust bunnies you  may encounter. ๐Ÿ‘ฏ๐Ÿ‘ฏ๐Ÿ‘ฏ No time for dusting when I have been thrifting and stitching. Hee! Hee!

Time for these pieces to be moved somewhere else.

The cast aluminum cornbread mold was my latest find a few weeks ago for just $2.00. What a steal!

I am dreaming of a shelf filled with sunny  sunflowers. I think that would be delightful. How about you?

The Ole' Crow Saltbox and  Crows and Sunflower Stamp

My sunflower tree in 2020.

Once all of those chores are done, then perhaps I will be able to sit back, put up my feet, and relax with my needle and thread in hand.

A darling gift from Robin. ๐Ÿค—

Well that's my Tuesday rambles.

So tell me.  Are any of you going to be visiting the yard sales this week? There are 690 miles of them stretching from Michigan to Alabama and treasures to behold. ๐Ÿ˜€

Have a beautiful day, Sweeties and Happy Thrifting!

 As always,

Happy Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Melisa

Dedicated to my dear sister, Amy. It is hard to believe we were thrifting together just 4 short years ago. Such a sweet memory. I miss and love you so much.   ❤๐Ÿ‘ผ

The Mr. Icey tin was a thrifty find last December.

Homemade items sit below my seasonal tree. Like Bent Creek's  "Spring Snapperland Coop" which was  finished on a Tractor Supply egg basket. I simply tucked a  wooden chicken and some corn husks into the basket.  The watermelon was made from a wedge of wood cut from a log.

Fingers crossed. I was just talking to hubby the other day about wanting a shelving unit just for those pieces. Aaah I hope you find a Saltbox you would enjoy . Have a beautiful day. Hugs.

  4. I do love my thrift and yard sales. This week though no way. Dh and I were surprised by a visit from our other daughter and son. My dd here in AL said she had a doctor's appointment in the city and needed someone to drive her in due to medication she'd be getting. So we loaded up her kids that were camping with us and went to their place to take her there. We walked in and there were other two with their spouses! Surprise Surprise Surprise as Gomer Pyle would say. Of course I cried - I think dh did too. ;-) Have fun thrifting this week at the longest yard sale - looking forward to seeing your treasures. Blessings!

    1. Aaah what a wonderful surprise! I would have cried too. There is nothing like having all of the family together. Was there a special occasion or did they just want to surprise y'all? I do hope y'all are able to enjoy the whole week together. My youngest dd lives away. I talk to her everyday, but I do miss seeing her. I am looking forward to her visit in the coming months. Sending you warm hugs.

    1. Good morning, sweet Debra and a very Happy Tuesday to you. I hope your day is off to a very lovely start. I bet you are staying very busy. How's the weather in your neck of the woods? Thankfully, it has cooled down a bit here just as we opened the pool. LOL. Hubby and I had a grand time yesterday running the roads looking for treasures. I sure do wish I could drive the whole 690 miles and visit as many stops as possible. Usually we make our way into GA and AL where we find treasures at better prices, but that is on the weekend. No yard sales today though- hubby is working and tomorrow the grandchildren have already made plans for us.LOL. Gotta keep the munchkins happy. Well Sweetie, I will let you go. I do hope you have a beautiful day and enjoy your time in your quilting room. Big Summertime Hugs

  11. Oh no I missed this post last night - forehead slapping moment! Your little white shelf is definitely a treasure to enjoy. Very cute, indeed. While you were out and about gathering cute things I was home having fun making a small quilt. New to me pattern that I thoroughly enjoyed. This is a pattern I know I'll make again and possibly again - LOL. Last night while looking for something else I spotted a cute quilt I left unfinished a couple of years ago. It involves applique so today I plan to prep the day away and ready for stitching while sitting. LOL Enjoy your Tuesday, dear friend. Big Hugs, DarleneJ

You have inspired me to get back into my little quilts here lately, Darlene. I pulled out some fabrics to start either a mini four Patch or perhaps a mini rail fence quilt the other night. Oh heck maybe I will make both! Hee! Hee! Can't have too many little quilts can we? I hope you have a super day in the quilt room and keep me posted on your new applique quilt. You know I love applique. Big Hugs from the holler.

  16. Yard sale, how intersting. We don't have that in Germany. There are fleamarkets to visit. I am sure that is better for me, cause I will find many things I like to have. Oh no! The cupboards are full. I have a collection of more than 70 Mocca (Espresso)cups. And some other things.
    But it makes me happy.
The shelf is lovely. Wait for how it turns out.
