Snow , Sheep and Clover Basket -A St. Patrick's Day Freebie

What is it  Mark Twain said?  "Everybody talks about the weather but nobody does anything about it. "

Well with that being said-  Brrrr. It is cold out there!  Hee! Hee! 🥶

Today is supposed to be the coldest day of the month in our neck of the woods dropping down to 19.   It is a perfect day to stay home in  my jammies and stitch the day away.   Now that sounds like a plan. Don't you agree?

LET IT SNOW

We got about 2 inches of  snow yesterday.

It began to melt by mid day, but soon the temps dropped.   There is no school today so the little munchkins will be here shortly then katy bar the door for they are sure to find something fun to get into - knowing them  they will probably go outside. Aaah to be young again when cold weather did not bother one so  much.😏

Anywhooo,  it has been a spell since I have stitched one of my own designs.   I have a wee start on my Clover Basket Pinkeep which I have high hopes to finish by the weekend.

A wee start on Clover Basket with St. Patty's Day Trifle

I hope you do not mind if I share the chart without it being stitched . Since I am still working on it, I have not listed the floss colors  so it is a "CHOOSE YOUR OWN COLORS" chart, but I will list the colors that I use when I finish this piece.

UPDATE:  FEB. 21, 2025- I finished "Clover Basket Pinkeep"In case you are interested: I used -- DMC floss colors which includes:

Symbol      Floss Color

U                DMC 3857

X                DMC 937

O                DMC 869

W                DMC Blanc

                DMC 3371

Y                DMC 729

Clover Basket is stitched and ready to be fully finished.

Clover Basket finished as a pin pillow with twisted yarn trim.

With the snow looking so inviting yesterday,  I pulled out my Frosty McChill Quilt  so it could frolic in the snow. Frosty was quite happy.

I then marched inside and  pulled out Mr. Snow  embroidered blocks which I shared in 2023-2024. Click here to visit a post with links to all 12 of the  Mr. Snow blocks.

It is time to do something with these blocks before I move on to another embroidery project.

Three of the 12 Mr. Snow blocks waiting to be sashed.

The Mr. Snow blocks  are the same size as the Frosty McChill blocks .  I will be cutting fabric today and framing a couple of the blocks.

Well , Sweeties I am going to cozy down on the couch, sip on a cup of coffee and stitch on a little basket.  I wish you a beautiful and blessed day.

 As Always,

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Melisa

Thank you for the sweet visit.

Hugs and Stitches!!!!🤗🧵❤

Dedicated to my baby sister, Amy. Love and miss you, Amo.

    1. Happy Thursday. Linda. Oh yes , the snow was so pretty. I was excited to see it though and woke up early since I feared that it would not last long. I am not sure what the boys and I will get into today. Last week we went to the park- no park today though- too cold. LOL. Have a great day. Hugs.

  6. Seems like you've gotten back into your groove. The St. Patty's stitchery is really fun. Hope the grands enjoy the snow. It is cold. No snow where I'm at, but it's plenty cold. My plan is like yours, stay in and sew the day away.

  7. I love all of your snowmen projects and the clover basket is going to be so cute. Our forecast low was 7 degrees F and it was 16.5 when I crawled from under the warming blanket. We had snow yesterday, it melted by the afternoon, and we woke up to a dusting this morning. I'm ready for spring!

  9. I never mind when you have a "Choose your own colors" design because that's what I do anyway. I just hunt around in my floss stash to see what I have that is close to whatever color you use. :) I love the Clover Basket design - will have to put that on my list! Stay warm, Melisa!

The next eye will be on the 28th and I should be good for another 20+ years, lol!! Enjoy the grands in the snow. Sending you warm hugs from sunny Arizona.

  15. A really cute basket, Melisa - will be saving that. Still plugging away on Winter Stamp - a very slow stitch for me. We were in the high 40's this am, which is pretty chilly for us here in FL. It's gotten warmer but still a bit nippy. Blessings!

I am still plugging away on my little Winter Stamp pillows as well- as long as they are done by next winter. Hee! Hee! That is pretty chilly weather for FL. I hope that it warms up soon. We finally got into the 40's ourselves today. Have a great weekend. Hugs.

  16. If I'm the bee's knees, you are the cat's meow! Haha The Clover Basket is the perfect stitch to do before March gets here. Thank you for such a cute little lamb. He looks very happy in his basket. It has been pretty chilly here for quite a while and we've had overcast days and snow off and on for days. Your Wet Mittens hanger and mini quilt is so perfectly cute. Your grands may need to use it for real if they venture out in the snow. Enjoy your jammy stitching. Sounds good to me.

    1. Aaaaw shucks, Ginny. Thank you so much. The Clover Basket stitched up pretty quickly. I sure hope you enjoy it. I am a little obsessed with sheep. LOL. Oh yes, the little ones grabbed their mittens and coats and played outside for short intervals. Then they would come back in and get under the heated blankets. They are a hoot. Have a great weekend, sweet friend. Hugs.

  17. I'm shocked at how much snow you folks down south have been getting this winter--more than us in western PA! We've been snow covered most of January and February here, but have not had any huge amounts thank goodness. I do love your sweet little St. Patrick's Day sheep, Melisa--thank you so much! I'm with you on not enjoying going out in the cold and snow--it's like kids don't even feel it, though! Crazy :) Enjoy your weekend! ♥
