Good morning, y'all and a very lovely Tuesday to you. How was your weekend? Mine was fine and dandy, but fairly busy.
When my girls were young, we would often lay a quilt out on the ground, set up an array of summertime munchies like hot dogs , chips and cold drinks and enjoy a lazy afternoon. Sometimes the girls would sit on the quilt and make clover necklaces and bracelets by interlocking the stems around the clover blooms. Did you do that as a kid?  |

Summer Quilt was stitched with the following DMC colors: 223, 815, 930, 932 and Blanc . Of course, if you decide to stitch Summer Quilt, you could stitch it in whatever floss colors your precious heart desires. ❤

ReplyDeleteWe had a lot of beach picnics and local on-the road-"Rest Area" picnics using their pre-set up tables when I was little.
We'd go for a "ride" and stop when the moment hit us. Fried chicken, potato salad, orange soda--then my favorite--and always cupcakes for dessert--yummees!!...fun times to remember...

Living in the city, I sometimes tried to have picnics in a park, but the girls hated it when ants climbed on the blanket.

DeleteSuch a cute stamp, Melisa. My mom and aunt used to take my cousins and I to the river to swim and we would have a picnic some days. Fun times. Ms. M got out of school last Friday because she made a 33 on her ACT and was exempt from finals. The boys get out Thursday at 1 and my daughter finishes up on Friday. Hopefully we will have them for breakfast/brunch Friday. That's been how it was in the past anyway. Enjoy your summer with the boys. Hugs, B
ReplyDeleteWowzer good job for Miss M! She is one smart cookie. It sounds like your kiddos are wrapping up the school year too. Do you get in a lot of grandma time during the summer like me? I know you love every minute being with them. We will get ours on Thursday . We usually take them out to eat wherever they want to go or fix them a special meal. There is nothing like grandchildren . Is there? Have a great time with them on Friday. Hugs.

DeleteYour finished stamp is a cute one! At the end of a hot day, we used to take a picnic to the lake. We would water ski until it got dark and then eat our picnic as we cruised back to the dock to load up for home. --TerryK@OnGoingProjects

DeleteI do love a picnic, Melisa! Thanks for the reminder of good times spent growing up with my siblings, and with our kids when they were growing up, too. We still love to take a picnic lunch along when we are out and about and see where we can find to eat it. This is a sweet stamp - I'll look forward to stitching it! DeleteMelisa, what a lovely reminder! Not as many picnics, but the Daisy and clover chains, yes! Hopscotch, Jacks, kick the can and catching lightning bugs, definitely! In the Summer, we were out of the house early morning and back in time for dinner. Kids today don’t know what they are missing! P.S. skip the housework! Yes to the fabric!

DeleteThe Summer Quilt stamp is perfect for the center. Thanks for sharing your memories - it always triggers memories that my sister and I then share. Our mother used to pack a picnic when my dad was working late in the field and we would find a shade tree near the field to set out the quilt and food. We also wove clovers and caught lightning bugs. When my children were small, I would often put out a quilt and had picnics in the living room on rainy days. You are making memories with your grandchildren, so special. Stock up on those ingredients for smores. Have a great week. Alicia
ReplyDeleteAaw such warm summertime memories, Alicia. I can imagine your mom spreading out the quilt and you and your sister watching and waiting for your dad as he worked the fields. Farmers have long hours don't they? My sis and I always tried to see who could make the longest clover chains. My , doesn't time pass by so quickly? Thank you for sharing such sweet memories.
