The wild and woolly flower garden is looking- well "wild and woolly " of course. 🌷🌷🌷
Hello, Sweet friends. How are you doing on those bright and beautiful Sunday morning? Did you wake up with a pep in your step? I certainly had a pep in mine after a piping hot cup of morning coffee.

Good morning sweet Melisa! Happy Sunday! ☀️ I would love to help you with your gardening and then stitch with you 😁 Most of my garden is still asleep because we still have very cold nights...but a few flowers are trying to come up here and there and I'm SO excited! 🪻🌷
ReplyDeleteI spent the past two days at an amazing cross stitch retreat here in Maine that got me floating on clouds cause it was so fun and I met so many wonderful people from all over the US. I kept thinking how much my sister would've enjoyed it too. 🥰
Hope you have a beautiful day! Happy gardening and stitching!
Hugs from Maine,
-Alex 🤗🤗🤗
Happy Sunday, dear Alex. I have been thinking about you. I am glad you are doing well and it is so good to hear from you. Oh how lucky are you to get to go to a retreat. It sounds like you had a ball and I bet you found much inspiration as well. I am sure your dear sis was looking down from you from Heaven , smiling away and proud that you were having a good time. Isn't it exciting to go out to the garden and see little sprouts coming up. I have been going out daily to see what is a new in the garden. I wish you the most delightful week. Thank you for brightening my day. Warm hugs.
DeleteHappy Sunday, Miss Melisa!!! I decided I wanted to work on a small quilt and got started when I should have gone to bed. LOL Nope no sleeping for this old gal and have enjoyed time at my machine. I have been sewing a bit recently and having a good ole time. Your Butterfly Kisses quilt is wonderful. Enjoy every stitch! Hugs, Hugs, and more Hugs, DarleneJ
ReplyDeleteOooh Super Super Fun! You go girl! You gotta work when the inspiration hits- that is what I always say. I was hoping to sit down to the machine today, but 2 little grandsons diverted my attention. Hee! Hee ! But that is ok. I am hoping to have some "machine time" on Tuesday. We shall see though. Keep that sewing machine humming, Sweet Darlene. Big Hugs from a sunny holler.
DeleteGood Morning my friend! Gardening? Not this time. The chickens have pretty much destroyed our part of the yard. Maybe next year when we won't be traveling as much and the chickens have a new place to play - dd is working on that.
ReplyDeleteIt's Christmas here too though the ornies get worked on anytime they choose ;-)
Blessings!
Oh my those little dickens. Scratching up your dirt and looking for snacks. I remember when mine used to do that. I about pulled my hair out at times, but I loved my chickens so much. It sounds like your dd is going to make a lovely play area for the chickens. I am sure they will be quite happy. Are you getting eggs yet? Have a wonderful week, Donna and enjoy your Christmas stitching time. Warm hugs.
DeleteYour garden looks perfect - I love "wild" and would love to have a whole front yard that looks like an English cottage garden! The butterfly quilt is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted an English cottage garden, Linda. I used to pour over books and magazines admiring the blooms, shrubs and layout of the gardens. I have grand ideas for mine, but I am working a little at a time. Maybe one day we both will have our English gardens. Thank you for the sweet Sunday visit, Linda. Hugs.
DeleteHi Melissa, my garden is still mostly under snow except for the south facing bulb garden. There are a few crocuses that are blooming but the cold temps are making the big hyacinths hold back. It is still too cold to be out during the day without a light jacket but spring is coming. The next 5-6 days will be rain so hopefully that will take care of the snow. I am on the injured list so there will be lots of stitching as I heal. I am going to the Stitch North retreat in May and want to be able to enjoy myself so resting is the key. I love having your notes in my inbox..lovely way to start the day. From north of Ottawa Ontario Canada.
ReplyDeleteHappy Happy Sunday, Val. Brrr Still Snow. Is this typical weather for you during this time of the year? I am sure you are looking forward to warmer days where you can spend time in your garden. My crocuses did not come up this year nor did my tulips. I am not sure why. We have been unseasonally warmer than usual which is fine with me. Oh, I am so sorry to hear that you are on the injured list. I sure wish you a very speedy recovery and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Oh yes, do get the rest you need before the retreat which really is not too far off . Is it? I bet you will have a grand time. Thank you for making my day special. It warms my heart that you enjoy my humble little blog. I cannot tell you how much that means to me. Warm hugs from the holler.
DeleteYour butterfly quilt is looking good, Melisa. No gardening plans here. Enjoy your Sunday!
ReplyDeleteAaw thank you so much, Robin. It is coming along slowly but surely. I do need to dedicate more time to it, but the garden has my attention now. I hope you had a wonderful day and was able to get in some slow stitching yourself. Hugs.
DeleteThat peach background on your butterfly quilt is so pretty, Melisa--this will be another lovely one;)))We have a few daffodils opening up around my little rock garden in the front...but it remains still pretty chilly here with the winds off the ocean waters...
ReplyDeleteI finally finished quilting Jelly Roll Jazz--the 2nd from that blue batik jelly roll and now am going to make binding...but a day of rest for my shoulders is in order first;))) hugs Julierose
Oh, I just love your Jelly Roll Jive , Julierose. I think it would be addictive making quilts in that design. I cannot wait to see the final reveal. Hopefully, it will warm up in your area soon so you can enjoy your gardens and perhaps sit on the deck and do some slow stitching. I can imagine the cool winds and the whiff of the ocean air- how nice even though it makes for chilly days. Thank you for the sweet visit, Julierose. Have a blessed evening. Hugs.
DeleteWe saw lots of butterflies in Texas last week. You got a good shot of the one in your garden. Enjoy your stitching time today. No garden chores for us today, we'll have rain all day. Which is fine with us, we need the moisture.
ReplyDeleteAaw I love seeing butterflies. I know you said that you missed some of the blooms, but I bet what was blooming was just beautiful. A couple of years ago we spent the Spring in Texas and the flowers were amazing as were the butterflies. I am glad to hear that the rain is welcome in your area. Send some my way. LOL. Enjoy your week, Kate. Hugs.
DeleteHave a beautiful Sunday, Melisa. I love the butterfly quilt you are working on, Pretty in Peach, and she certainly is! I have one Amarylis that pops up (thankfully) every year that my sweet Mama planted probably 20 years ago, and my glads are greening up. I have one "something" that we planted as a stick and was supposed to be peonies as I love peonies, but it's definitely NOT a peony! It comes back every year and apparently thrives in our clay soil! Those little flowers popping up in different places are what Mama called volunteers! They volunteer to come back each year! LOL Have a wonderful Sunday and thanks (in advance) for sharing with us at Monday Musings. Have a great week, friend! Hugs, B
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday, Brenda. Oh how fun and interesting that you have had the Amarylis that long. I was gifted one last year. It is just about ready to bloom , but I had no idea you could keep them that long. Oooh I wonder what your "Stick" is since it isn't a peony? I love peonies too. My Nanny had one at the front of her sidewalk. It was always a joy to see. I do need to add one to my garden. I am definitely "digging" the volunteers. I am finding something magical in my garden at every turn. LOL. Have a fabulous week. Hugs.
DeleteI like your Santa Sunday! My husband has been mowing, weeding and pruning. The yard looks great. I had to give up gardening after being rear ended in a car accident in 2009 although, I do a little dead heading here and there!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday Terry. It sounds like your hubby is staying very busy. Don't you just love it when the yard is all mowed and ready for the season? I am sorry you had to give up gardening, but thankfully, you have other hobbies that certainly keep you busy. I wish you the most lovely week ahead, Terry and thank you for dropping by. Hugs.
DeleteIt's wonderful to see your beautiful quilted quilts, Melissa.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful butterfly.
Your garden is awakening with the arrival of spring.
Have a blessed Sunday.
I just love this time of the year , Isabel when the garden awakes and new surprises greet me in the garden . I am enjoying working on my newest butterfly quilt. Hopefully, I can make more headway this week. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteLovely butterfly quilt, Melisa! And what a cute cocoa project you have in the works--thank you for the link :) Our yard is greening up nicely and we've had two sunny days in a row--rare for southwestern PA. It certainly does lift my spirits and I swear I'm more productive on sunny days :) Wishing you a day filled with more butterflies and sunshine! ♥
ReplyDeleteI think I am more productive on sunny days too, Carol. It is so good to hear that it is warming up in your area. Have you been able to sit outside and do any stitching? I sat on the porch today which was so peaceful. Thank you for the sweet visit. I wish you a week of sunshine and stitching as well. hugs.
DeleteThings are starting to green up in very dry Colorado, and I'm hoping to see some marigold sprouts soon, too! How lovely to see a butterfly already! I love your butterfly quilt - it looks like you're moving right along with the quilting. Hope you've had a relaxing Sunday, Melisa!
ReplyDeleteOh how wonderful that things are starting to warm up. I hope you will post photos of your garden as it awakes as well. Have you already started planning what you will be planting this year? Hopefully, you will get some much needed rain soon. We are also in a dry spell. I have already started my daily watering. Have a wonderful evening and thank you for the sweet Sunday visit. Hugs.
DeleteI need to go get some tomato and zucchini plants. Love your butterfly quilt!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, they are a must for summer planting . Aren't they? I have tomatoes ready to be transplanted in the greenhouse and I just bought my zucchini seeds. Hopefully, we will work up the ground for the veggie garden this week. Aaw thank you for the kind words on my butterfly quilt , Karrin. I wish you a delightful week. Hugs.
DeleteYour quilt and your garden are beautiful. I live in a 6th floor apartment in Montreal so I don't have a garden. I appreciate you sharing your lovely pictures. Thank you so much. 💓
ReplyDeleteI love all the tomato patterns! That cookbook is quite the find. Nothing like an old church cookbook for some great recipes.
ReplyDeleteI am cleaning up the garden and filling my pots with new potting soil. I will be planting the marigolds later this week. The perennials are up and have survived a late freeze with little damage. I have copied the snowman mug from Dianet - thanks for sharing her blog. The stitching community has some wonderful people. You are making nice progress on the butterfly quilt. I love old cookbooks and have a fairly large collections - the tomato recipe looks delicious. Have a great week. Hugs Alicia
ReplyDeleteI would absolutely love to join you in pulling weeds and then learning some hand-quilting techniques. I'd even bring my own garden gloves LOL. You got a nice photo of the butterfly.

Hi Melisa, unfortunately I have had to cut back on my gardens due to health issues. I still keep my fingers in the dirt with hanging baskets and pots of flowers. One thing I can do is purchase mini daffodils before Easter and enjoy them in the house. When they wither, I plant them outside and my oh my are they pretty when they rebloom every year. Since I have been doing this for years, I have them all around my entire house and gardens. Just a quick note about the Bee Balm, it’s tenacious and invasive, it’s part of the mint family. I do love Bee Balm, and have it growing in my yard. You can be ruthless with it and yank it out wherever you don’t want it. It will take over it left unchecked. Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks lush and green there. We are also getting green and blooms and today it's raining. The butterfly quilt is coming along wonderfully. I also have a quince, though ours isn't quite blooming yet. Do you do anything with the fruit?
ReplyDeleteDon't know what happened there, but I meant to ask about your quince, not a fifteen.
DeleteIt doesn't like the word quince or kwins (in case it happens again)
DeleteButterflies are wonderful and so will your butterfly quilt! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful pictures of your garden! Yes, I do believe those butterflies are carrying your sweet message to your sister. I love your Santa Sunday idea! Happy stitching to you and thank you for linking up to Sew and Tell!
ReplyDeleteYour butterflies are so pretty, and this quilt is a treasure. The real butterfly is lovely too! Have fun gardening, and sewing. Thank you for sharing your peaceful place and beautiful projects, and linking up. Hugs
