ReplyDeleteI spent the past two days at an amazing cross stitch retreat here in Maine that got me floating on clouds cause it was so fun and I met so many wonderful people from all over the US. I kept thinking how much my sister would've enjoyed it too. 🥰

Happy Sunday, dear Alex. I have been thinking about you. I am glad you are doing well and it is so good to hear from you. Oh how lucky are you to get to go to a retreat. It sounds like you had a ball and I bet you found much inspiration as well. I am sure your dear sis was looking down from you from Heaven , smiling away and proud that you were having a good time. Isn't it exciting to go out to the garden and see little sprouts coming up. I have been going out daily to see what is a new in the garden. I wish you the most delightful week. I was hoping to sit down to the machine today, but 2 little grandsons diverted my attention. Hee! Hee ! But that is ok. I am hoping to have some "machine time" on Tuesday. We shall see though. DeleteGood Morning my friend! Gardening? Not this time. The chickens have pretty much destroyed our part of the yard. Maybe next year when we won't be traveling as much and the chickens have a new place to play - dd is working on that.

Oh my those little dickens. Scratching up your dirt and looking for snacks. I remember when mine used to do that. I about pulled my hair out at times, but I loved my chickens so much. ReplyDeleteI have always wanted an English cottage garden, Linda. I used to pour over books and magazines admiring the blooms, shrubs and layout of the gardens. I have grand ideas for mine, but I am working a little at a time. Maybe one day we both will have our English gardens. Thank you for the sweet Sunday visit, Linda. Hugs.
DeleteHi Melissa, my garden is still mostly under snow except for the south facing bulb garden. There are a few crocuses that are blooming but the cold temps are making the big hyacinths hold back. It is still too cold to be out during the day without a light jacket but spring is coming. The next 5-6 days will be rain so hopefully that will take care of the snow. I am on the injured list so there will be lots of stitching as I heal. I am going to the Stitch North retreat in May and want to be able to enjoy myself so resting is the key. I love having your notes in my inbox..lovely way to start the day. From north of Ottawa Ontario Canada.

I am sure you are looking forward to warmer days where you can spend time in your garden. My crocuses did not come up this year nor did my tulips. I am not sure why. We have been unseasonally warmer than usual which is fine with me. Oh, I am so sorry to hear that you are on the injured list. I sure wish you a very speedy recovery and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Oh yes, do get the rest you need before the retreat which really is not too far off . Is it? I bet you will have a grand time. Thank you for making my day special. It warms my heart that you enjoy my humble little blog. I cannot tell you how much that means to me. Warm hugs from the holler.

Oh, I just love your Jelly Roll Jive , Julierose. I think it would be addictive making quilts in that design. I cannot wait to see the final reveal. Hopefully, it will warm up in your area soon so you can enjoy your gardens and perhaps sit on the deck and do some slow stitching. ReplyDeleteAaw I love seeing butterflies. I know you said that you missed some of the blooms, but I bet what was blooming was just beautiful. A couple of years ago we spent the Spring in Texas and the flowers were amazing as were the butterflies. I am glad to hear that the rain is welcome in your area. Send some my way. LOL. I have one Amarylis that pops up (thankfully) every year that my sweet Mama planted probably 20 years ago, and my glads are greening up. I have one "something" that we planted as a stick and was supposed to be peonies as I love peonies, but it's definitely NOT a peony! It comes back every year and apparently thrives in our clay soil! Those little flowers popping up in different places are what Mama called volunteers! They volunteer to come back each year! It is just about ready to bloom , but I had no idea you could keep them that long. Oooh I wonder what your "Stick" is since it isn't a peony? I love peonies too. My Nanny had one at the front of her sidewalk. It was always a joy to see. I do need to add one to my garden. I am definitely "digging" the volunteers. ReplyDeleteI am cleaning up the garden and filling my pots with new potting soil. I will be planting the marigolds later this week. The perennials are up and have survived a late freeze with little damage. I have copied the snowman mug from Dianet - thanks for sharing her blog. The stitching community has some wonderful people. You are making nice progress on the butterfly quilt. I love old cookbooks and have a fairly large collections - the tomato recipe looks delicious. Have a great week. Hugs Alicia

Hi Melisa, unfortunately I have had to cut back on my gardens due to health issues. I still keep my fingers in the dirt with hanging baskets and pots of flowers. One thing I can do is purchase mini daffodils before Easter and enjoy them in the house. When they wither, I plant them outside and my oh my are they pretty when they rebloom every year. Since I have been doing this for years, I have them all around my entire house and gardens. Just a quick note about the Bee Balm, it’s tenacious and invasive, it’s part of the mint family. I do love Bee Balm, and have it growing in my yard. You can be ruthless with it and yank it out wherever you don’t want it. It will take over it left unchecked. Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks lush and green there. We are also getting green and blooms and today it's raining. The butterfly quilt is coming along wonderfully. I also have a quince, though ours isn't quite blooming yet. Do you do anything with the fruit?
