The Autumn 16 Patch and Pumpkin Crow - A Fall Freebie

" I better get a move on! " I exclaimed as I popped up from the couch.

"What's got you in such a bustle? " asked Mr. pInker.

"There's a quilt top that needs to be finished!" I replied with glee.

Mr. Pinker just smiled and nodded. "I could have guessed.  "

" Can you hand me the quilt top?" I asked Mr.Pinker who was sitting in the stitchy chair.

"Where ?" asked Mr. Pinker as he looked around.
The Autumn 16 patch had been sitting on the armrest of the stitchy chair for a good many months just begging to be finished.  When I could not stand its moans and groans any longer, I threw  the grandson's fleece blanket over it to hide it from sight until I was ready to work on it.  "Grumble , grumble ,grumble" went the Autumn 16 patch.
Mr. Pinker lifted the fleece throw to see a patch of Autumn colors smiling brightly.

"There it is! " I exclaimed.

Mr. Pinker pulled it out from beneath his arm and as quick as a wink, I grabbed it and bolted for the quilt room.

"And she is off! I heard Mr. Pinker chuckle.

It did not take long to get to the task at hand. Add borders. That  is where I had left off last year.  Luckily one border fabric was already chosen- a pretty a paisley fabric in oranges ,browns, and aquas, bought many years ago.

"Are you going to finish  me? asked the Autumn 16 Patch  as I studied the border selection.

"Give me a minute , " I sighed.  I promptly got up and rummaged through my stash. "A dark inner border needs to wrangle in those 16 patches, " I replied.

"Hummph " said the quilt.

I chose a dark calico print and immediately cut 1 1/2" strips. With a zoom zoom zoom , they were all attached.

"Eeeh I like it! , " squealed the Autumn 16 patch.

Soon the paisley print was cut into 4 1/2 inch strips, and they zoomed through the machine as well.

"So what do you think, Miss Autumn 16 Patch?" I asked as I sat back admiring my handy work. .

"I am happier than a squirrel with a nest filled with nuts, " chuckled Autumn 16 patch. "Now when ya' going to quilt me?"

"Whooaa, there Nelly! " I exclaimed now let's not get in too big of a hurry. I have other fish to fry besides I have plans for you  even though you  are not finished.

And with that I heard a "Hmmph!" from Miss Autumn 16 Patch as she snapped in the wind!

I will show you in a future post what I did with Miss Autumn 16 patch.

If you would like to read more about the Autumn 16 Patch , I posted about it  in my October 14, 2024 post.

In the meantime..

Can I show you a little stitch I have been working on?

It is just an itty bitty stitch  called " Pumpkin Crow" . It was inspired by my "Fall Checklist " that I shared a couple of weeks ago.

I have been dreaming of finishing it on a cloth pumpkin or maybe make it into a small pumpkin- we shall see though.

  2. She's definitely beautiful but a bit sassy! Gotta love her wind snap. LOL Oh my the crow in the pumpkin is mighty cute. Stitched "Smell My Feet" today now I'm trying to decide if I should work on that sweet pumpkin. My youngest grandson stopped by today to help me with my printer and we were able to print the Autumn Doodles designs but, but, but LOL I think he was able to give me a way to print some of the things I haven't been able to print. As we were printing, I said, "oh my now we're cooking with gas" and he started laughing so hard. Happy Saturday - have a grand day. Big, Big Hugs, Darlene J
