Aunt Leona's Log Cabin

          Hello, Hello! Hello!

It is a lovely day in the holler. The birds are chirping . The sun is shining, and I have a very special project that I am going to be working on.

A few weeks ago, dear Penny sent me a blessing box filled to the brim with quilty goodness.

In the box were numerous beautiful  quilt blocks lovingly pieced by her Great Aunt Leona. 🤗❤

There were 26 log cabin blocks in all sorts of prints and patterns.

Each was foundation pieced on muslin.

Each log cabin block is foundation pieced on muslin.

It is such a great honor that sweet Penny gifted me such treasures from her Great Aunt.

Today I will be measuring and trimming. A log cabin quilt is in my future . I think I will call it Aunt Leona's Log Cabin. ( I hope you don't mind, Penny.)

Look at those yummy fabrics. Swoon. 🤗

I will keep it short and sweet today. There is some "construction" in progress. Hee! Hee!

  Graphics from Pinterest.

I will share the other gifties in future posts. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Penny. You are a blessing.

As Always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

  14. Ooh, Melisa, what wonderful Log Cabin treasures! Is there a chance you can date the fabrics in the blocks? I am curious as some of the strips look familiar. Maybe Penny would have an idea. I've also been enjoying catching up with the last few weeks of Pinker 'n Punkin. The new patriotic header is like a seek-and-find puzzle and I love all the little pillow stitches. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us, not to mention the thrift finds and the farm pix. Most grateful. Kris in WI

  19. The fabrics in Leona's blocks remind me of my earlier work. Easy to date the era of small print, calicos and what followed, but all before the hand dyed, batik era. What a gift you are giving by finishing what Leona started.
