Tumbleweeds, Windmills and Camp

For some reason, my eyes were heavy as Mr. Pinker and I  puttered down the road. I had hoped to work on cross stitching, but alas I could not keep my eyes open.  Goodness, was I a sleepy head. 😴💤

Mary Elizabeth Coat's Winter Saltbox in the works.

Good Sunday morning , Sweet Friends. Welcome.

Mr. Pinker and I have made it to camp.

Though I see the windmills every time that I travel through Oklahoma and Texas, I still marvel at them. Wow ! They are massive! We do not have windmills where we live.

Seeing the windmills near the Donley County line in Texas made me regret that I did not bring my Peppermint Pinwheels quilt that I pieced last month. It would have been a lovely quilt to work on while camping.

But I did bring my Tumbleweeds quilt which will be my focus quilt for 2026.

The first block is quilted. Eeeeh!

The center block looks like a windmill.

I am  freehand quilting wavy lines in the 1 1/2" sashings.

Today I will work on Block 2 in Tumbleweeds and if I am lucky -well maybe I will be able to keep my eyes open to do some cross stitching. Hee! Hee!

Mr. Pinker and I are camping off grid so our power and internet access is limited. Please forgive me for not being able to visit properly. Your sweet visits and compliments are bringing  warm smiles to each and every day. Thank you from the bottom of my pea pickin' heart. I will be back to normal visits in the near future. Thank you for understanding.

Alrighty, I best get off here. We have a desert wash to explore and then I will settle into my afternoon stitching time.

Have a Wonderful Winter's Day!

As Always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting,

 y'all

  4. I love seeing your hand-quilting - I've never been very good at it. Plus no room for a set-up. :-)
Looking forward to seeing more of that new saltbox! So pretty and the colors match our temps right now.
Have a wonderful time - we'll be here when you get back - you can tell us all about your trip and we can live vicariously through you!

  6. Enjoy camping! We love camping so much in the west, I would get a lot of my wool appliqué stitching done! I love all your designs especially the salt boxes, I’ve many of them. I grew up in a salt box so they are dear to me. Melisa, why to you design so many salt box patterns?

  9. Hope you have a nice, restful time camping Melisa! Every time we see those windmills we are sad - we do not like them. They spoiled the beautiful view from the highway going through the Arbuckle Mts in Oklahoma. :( Hope you have good weather.

Do what you can, and if you can't, that's okay too, because the important thing is to enjoy it.

  15. I love seeing the wind generators when we are out on the road, too - there are many out on the eastern plains of Colorad and into western Nebraska and Kansas. Looks like you are getting beautiful desert views, too. That is a pretty winter salt box project - enjoy your stitching on it, and the Tumbleweeds quilt, too!
