Ooooh, tonight the Harvest Moon will grace our skies. Are you going to put on your robe and slippers and go out to see it? I think I will. Of course, I may have to do some convincing of Mr. Pinker to take me out to the farm for a better view. These old trees in the holler are too much of an obstruction to view the moon properly. Besides we can go see ole' Edna, Rodster, Molly and the twins as we gaze at the moon in all its glory. LOL
 |
Molly and her twins, Mutt & Jeff are doing well. The twins are growing like a weed. |
How about a little Harvest Moon trivia? My girls has always said I have a mind for random facts. LOL I really do! I just love tid bits of information on this and that no matter how useless the information is. ššš¤£
š HARVEST MOON TRIVIA š
šFrom my understanding, the moon will be 224, 600 miles miles from Earth compared to its usual 238, 900 miles. And... it is supposed to appear 30 % brighter and 14 % larger than normal. How exciting!
š3 more super moons will follow in November, December and January. On November 5th , the moon is supposed to be at its closest to the earth.

Excuse Rodster. He has been eating. šš®š |
In celebration of this month's Super Moon, I have a new house stitch to share with you. It is called The Harvest Moon House.
A small pumpkin patch was planted in the front yard of the warm autumn cabin.
Hoot ! Hoot! call the owls as the moon begins to rise.
And then of course there is the big, glorious Harvest Moon.
"The Harvest Moon glows round and bold,
In pumpkin shades outlined in gold, " - Richelle E. Goodrich
I have to admit I had so much fun stitching this one, and this house may be my favorite for this year.
"Aim for the moon. If you miss, you might hit a star. "- W. Clement Stone
Harvest Moon House has a design size of 76 x 74. I stitched mine on 14 count Aida that I coffee / tea dyed which brought this to about 5 3/ 8" x 5 1/4".
Sixteen floss colors were used in this piece including DMC 301, 435, 730, 739, 780, 829, 832,844, 919, 920, 934, 975, 977, 3012, 3781, and 3853 . I actually did not realize I used so many floss colors until I had finished. Of course, you could use as many or as few as you liked.

I finished Fall Checklist which I shared earlier. I embroidered mine in DMC 898. If you have a chance, pop over to Di's blog , Quilting is Blissful . Not only does she show the gorgeous projects that she finished this past week, but she shared how she finished the Fall Checklist into a darling pillow. Thank you, again, Di for stitching so many of my pieces. ❤š¤
I will keep it short and sweet today. Have a beautiful day and enjoy the Harvest Moon.
As Always...
Happy Stitching and Quilting,
y'all
Melisa

ReplyDeletei am so excited with your blog post today. i just love the Harvest Moon House cross stitch pattern. it is wonderful. the moon is big - just how i like my moon: big and bright.
Miss Molly, babies Mutt and Jeff and Mr. Rodster are the perfect family. Miss Molly and Mr. Rodster are so big. wowza!!! the babies are going to be very big as well. how many other baby calves do you have? Mr. Rodster makes his rounds, doesn't he? how many female cows do you have? do they all have babies around the same time? quite the farm you have lovely Melisa. i bet the baby calves are so cute. they look really cute from the photo.
i hope you are enjoying the cooler weather. i sure am. it is supposed to get warmer here beginning on wednesday. not looking forward to it. hopefully november brings us much cooler weather and some much needed rain. that would be so fantastic. i love rain, but keep the thunder and lightning please. i am not a fan of thunder and lightning.
well Melisa i need to start getting supper ready. we are having chicken tamales with sour cream, olives and cheese and, of course, we have to have our side of refried beans. yum!!! i'm really hungry today, too.
praying you have a wonderful evening. stay strong and have sweet dreams.
blessings and love are coming your way.

ReplyDeleteI can't believe I almost missed this post!! I was in bed early so I missed the moon. Dang it!!! LOL I love the new house. It reeks pure perfection. I'm trying to move past Autumn and Halloween stitching and you keep cranking out the cute designs. BTW, I'm starting to interview for assistants for us. Stay tuned and I'll tell you when I have THE perfect assistant for you. Roflol BTW, I sent you a message on IG so take a minute to read it, please. It's no big deal but I need a little tidbit of information.
ReplyDeleteToday I felt worse than I felt Saturday and Sunday. I was under a quilt and blanket because I had the chills. Ugh!!!
How was Mr R's appt today. I thought about him all day.
Big Hugs to you! DarleneJ
The Harvest Moon House and Fall Checklist are wonderful Autumn projects, Melisa. I visited Di's blog and she really did a great job with her cross stitch finishes.I am in LOVE with your vintage pottery.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful house to add to the neighborhood. The big full harvest moon in the perfect cantaloupe gold color. The addition of the chimney on the end of the house means cooler nights and toasty fires. Cute owls and punkins, too. So glad you shared it with us. Thank you. Love the shots of the bovine family. I can just imagine the babies' looong lashes and their liquid chocolate eyes.
ReplyDeleteThe Havest Moon House is fabulous. The owls, the moon, the pumpkins, well I love everything. It is difficult to decide which little house to stitch next. The fall checklist is really cute if only I could complete my stack of cross stitch patterns. I enjoyed the moon trivia. The moon is fabulous tonight. Thanks for sharing. Alicia
ReplyDeleteHow awesome. Love the new house and will stitch asap. My list of stitching your houses gets longer and longer. Moon wasn't to see, to much clouds. Must wait till next time.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy day,
Gabi
Thank you soo much for your generosity of sharing your darling designs. I just coffee/tea dyed my aida yesterday. I will be starting this one when I get home from work!!! Love it. Annette
ReplyDeleteI love your new house! Thank you so much! You are such a blessing! I also missed the Harvest moon - and to tell you the truth, I had no idea it was last night! Would have missed it anyway as we are in the middle of our rainy season. Thank you again - many blessings!
ReplyDeleteThank you soo much for this lovely pattern !!
ReplyDeleteOur patio is on the east side of our house, so we walked outside to the patio last night and were blown away by how bright the moon was! And as I type this, I can see the moon now in the western sky. It certainly gave us a show! So your farm is not where you live, you have to drive to it? You need to open up your place to take us on a farm tour so we can see Rodster in person. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI love reading your posts, seeing your stitching and the fact that you share your patterns! Thank you so much! I DID see our harvest moon last night--bright and shining!
ReplyDeleteLove this new house!! I am trying to finish up all of your Halloween stitches but might have to finish some for next year so I can get back to houses! My grandchildren love the Stamp stitches that sit on my dining table in a wooden bowl each season. I still have two more to stitch for November but I see this new house for October - I will add this to my list and start stitching to get it finished before the end of October. I love to display them by monthly themes. As always thank you soooo much for your beautiful designs and generosity for sharing. Much appreciated! Take care - Carrie
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful new house offering, Melisa! The Fall Checklist is darling.

ReplyDeleteThe Harvest Moon stitchery is really cute. I guess we missed the moon last night, we were so tired when we got home I don't think either of us moved till it was bed time.
ReplyDeleteMelisa, I love this Harvest Moon House! Thanks so much! I laughed when you said your daughters said you had a mind for random facts. Chicken Leg is the same way!! And, he'll just pop them out randomly! LOL Have a great day and enjoy the moon this evening. Hugs, B
ReplyDeleteHow sweet to see that mother with her calves!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis morning, as I was heading to work at 6:30, a wonderful super full moon was still shining in the sky.
We've captured a spectacular harvest moon in the northern hemisphere.
I love the delicate embroidery you shared today.
Hugs from Seville
Oh, it was so bright last night with the harvest moon, wasn't it? Your sweet design perfectly captures the moon and this season, Melisa. Thank you! Glad the little calves are doing well--what fun to watch them grow! ♥
ReplyDeleteYour Harvest Moon House design is lovely, Melisa! I will have to put it on my ever-growing list of stitches to work on. :) It was cloudy here last night so we didn't see the harvest moon, but it was shining brightly in my window at 6 am this morning - no alarm clock needed here!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the Harvest Moon House! I was going to wrap up my fall stitching and start on Christmas, but I think I have to do Harvest Moon first! I just love, love, love all your houses! After I stitch one and make it into a little pillow I put it on the coffee table so I can look at it while I do all my stitching. They bring me such joy! I did see the moon here last night when I took our dog out at bedtime and it was a beauty, so big and bright.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet Harvest Moon House! I didn't see it. . this time; but, it is one of my favorite moons of the year!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteHi Melisa, I am a night owl, always have been. I have been in awe the last several nights looking outside at 2 in the morning and seeing how beautiful and bright the skies have been. So light that you really have to think about what time it really is. You can actually see the clouds as if it was before dusk. Your newest house pillow is a wonderful reminder of the Super Moon. Thank you for your talented design. Enjoy down in the Holler!
ReplyDeleteOh Rodster, Molly, and the twins!!! Congrats. They are perfect!
ReplyDeleteAwww Molly and Mutt and Jeff - I love them
