Morning glories...
Asters...
Black eyed Susans...
and Queen Anne's Lace.
The days are warm , bright and sunny which makes me jump for joy!
But are there signs of fall? 🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂
Well sure...
The sawtooth oak acorns are falling.
Corn has been harvested.
Golden rod is on it's last leg of blooming.
And a few trees are changing color and losing their leaves.
I have been spending my time strolling the fields of turnip greens and fields of long gone corn crops as the sharecroppers have come and gone with their combines . The other day I watched the farmers as they came in to harvest soybeans. They had a very busy, long day.
Late this evening, I plan to work on a new stitch. It is another wee sampler with stacks of Jacks waiting for the Halloween season. It is called Mini Jack Sampler. I haven't figured out what colors I will use yet, but I will probably pick and choose from the floss selection from my "Halloween Stamps".
If you are interested, I am posting Mini Jack Sampler as a "CHOOSE YOUR OWN COLORS" chart. I will certainly update this post later with my progress and the colors that I use.

Howdy, Ho, Ho!!! the Mini Jack Sampler is super cute. Actually, all the mini samplers are very cute. We have one season in my little corner of the world - HOT. LOL We had rain like we haven't seen in quite a while during the 3-day weekend. Strange weather!! Enjoy your days and please stay safe. Big Hugs, DarleneJ
ReplyDeleteI love morning glories. My mom used to greet me with “Morning Glory” every morning!
ReplyDeleteThe mini Jack sampler is adorable Melisa! It will be fun to see what colors you use. I will be adding to my collection of your patterns that need to be stitched. I just finished Turkey Holler Saltbox tonight. There are two more Thanksgiving houses to finish before the next one comes out. I could happily stitch every pattern you design. I must apologize as I always forget to comment on your blog posts. I miss seeing you post on Instagram, but it seems Instagram is not what it was. I am off to start The Blessing House. :)
ReplyDeleteThe mini sampler is so cute! Sounds like the harvest time is winding down in your neck of the woods! --TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteMy dear Melissa...how you know how to tempt me!!
ReplyDeleteThis mini sampler is going to be the first Halloween project I ever make...
I just can't resist the charm of a mini sampler!!!
Thanks for sharing

What a beautiful place you are in. Is that a Grandpa Ott morning glory growing wild? The mini sampler is adorable! I never saw a 2-seated outhouse, but seeing this one brought back an instant "smell" memory of the one Granny had - lol!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful pictures from camp, Melisa! Your Jack sampler is darling.
ReplyDeleteThe morning glory bring back memories of my mom, she had them on the farm. Love the new stack pumpkins, I can't stitch fast enough, LOL.
ReplyDeleteChanging of the seasons - I am so glad that you pointed it out. We can be so busy moving along (or finishing one project to start another one LOL). Summer is lingering in my garden - the marigolds, zinnias, daisies are still blooming. But fall is present in cooler mornings, the sedum is in full bloom, and the cannas have their seed pods. Thanks for sharing your day. The jacks mini sampler is very cute. I love stitching your samplers especially the mini samplers. Enjoy your day. Alicia
ReplyDeleteLove the new sampler. Their silly grins brought a smile to my morning and that's a great way to start the day. Lovely floral shots. One of my Grandmas had a privy, too. Wonder how many of us have those memories? Another frosty morning here. It's currently 30+F outside. Brrr! Enjoy your time away and soak in some sunshine for me.
ReplyDeletegood morning lovely Melisa.
ReplyDeletei love the flowers you are seeing. they are so beautiful. i especially like the aster's and queen Anne's lace. you are experiencing so many beautiful plants, sights and smells. how fun!!! on top of all that you get to wake up under the stars. that is wonderful. i bet the stars are so close it's like picking them from the sky.
i had a quilty day yesterday where we made a witches hat. i made mine using a whimsical salamander fabric on the outside with a blue speckled fabric on the inside. if i knew how to download a photo i'd send you one.
thank you so much for the mini jack sampler. it's off the printer and ready to stitch. please do include the colors you used if you get a chance. i would really appreciate that Melisa.
stay safe young lady and enjoy nature.

Lots of pretty sights where you are camping, Melisa! I love the new mini sampler - you're making it hard for me to choose what to stitch next, lol! Thanks for always sharing your designs with us. Enjoy your time camping!
ReplyDeletelove the new mini sampler.....always a joy to see your new creations.....BE SAFE while travelling....vivian
ReplyDeleteCute new sampler, Melisa. That outhouse reminds me of my childhood before our church built a bathroom. I was terrified of snakes in the outhouse! LOL I was soooo glad when they built a real bathroom! Your camping sites are beautiful. I really love those sawtooth oak acorns. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteHi dear Melissa! I’m sure you’ve noticed here in the south the leaves are mostly “brown and down.” Even just a few years ago the Japanese Maple planted in memory of our sweet son isn’t the same. It used to turn the most beautiful bright reddish maroon. I’ve seen photos recently of stitchers further north & I’m just gob-smacked at the beauty and color I know I remember as a kid. Thank you so much, once again, for the adorable mini sampler. Your designs are always a delight & I’m always so thankful to you that you so generously share them with us. Not to mention the inspiring quilting, embroidery & everything else you do!! I look forward to your blogs, they always brighten my day! Enjoy your time “in the wild” and the peaceful, quiet stitching time without distractions (well, except for those “critters” 🫣 that probably don’t want to learn to cross stitch (never say never, but……). Also I hope you encounter some “thrifty treasures” along the way!
ReplyDeleteGod Bless!
Melisa, I can’t begin to tell you how much I enjoy your blog. You certainly have a wonderful way with words, rather poetic. Looking forward to stitching the Halloween sampler. Keep enjoying your camping trip and travel safe!
ReplyDeleteGreat!
ReplyDeleteSuch a darling mini-sampler, Melisa! Thank you! I just stitched and finished two of your Halloween minis for my grandsons and posted them on Instagram... Love them! I know I'll be stitching more in the future :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute mini sampler. We were on our own adventure last week and we were surprised at the number of wild flowers still blooming. I got the chance to visit with my mother earlier this week and for some reason we got to talking about my paternal and maternal grandparents and about the days where all they had were outhouses. There are some infamous family stories around that, some I hadn't heard before last week.
