Bees, Jacks and Tiny Stitches

Happy Tiny Tuesday! 😀 Hello Sweet Peas. How are you doing on this fine summer's day?

I bet you are wondering what is up with "Tiny Tuesday" . Well a few years ago my sweet friend, Christina on IG ( Hi Christina!) started stitching tiny pieces on a certain day. So that is what I have been doing ever since then. It is part of my stitching rotation.   The rotation for me might be to just spend 15- 30 minutes on a project and then move to my "focus" piece. Of course, I am not a stickler to my rotation often I fly by the seat of my pants. 👖👖

               🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝

Here are some of my rotation themes. Most are ideas from other dear stitchers.

MONDAY-    MERRY MONDAY - Christmas/ winter stitching
TUESDAY-  TINY TUESDAY-  Work on smalls
                    - TOMATO TUESDAY- Sewing related stitches
WEDNESDAY- WITCHY WEDNESDAY- Halloween themed stitches
                     -  WINTER WEDNESDAY- Winter themed stitches
                     - RED WEDNESDAY- Redwork
THURSDAY- THANKFUL THURSDAY- Thanksgiving or sentimental stitches
                      - EMBROIDERY THURSDAY- I work on an embroidery project
FRIDAY-        FALL FRIDAY- Autumn related stitches
                      - FARM FRIDAY- Farm related stitches
SATURDAY- STARS AND STRIPES SATURDAY- patriotic pieces
                      - SAMPLER SATURDAY- samplers
SUNDAY-     SANTA SUNDAY- Christmas / winter stitching

               🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝

It is "Bee Stitching" time for me. And... a new stitch is in the works... - The Apiary Garden. I am stitching it on 14 count Rit  charcoal gray dyed  fabric.

A start on Apiary Garden .

Have you seen the darling  Miss Bee freebie from The Little Stitcher? It is a cutie patootie! I will be working on it today too.

The wings are being stitched in Miss Bee from The Little Stitcher.

And... Have you seen these at Walmart? Mom gifted me this the other day. She knew my love for watermelons , pumpkins and Halloween. I had to laugh. I would have never thought of a watermelon Jack-o-lantern. Would you?  Cute as can be though.

Speaking of Halloween, I pulled out With Thy Needle and Thread's "Boo To You!" last Wednesday.  I slowly worked on her dress. There are some rough stitches in there- I have to admit sometimes my eyes fail on me. LOL. But I am plugging right along.  This is my Witchy Wednesday stitch.
Sorry for the blurry photo.

So tell me. Are you working on a teeny stitch right now? And do you have a rotation or do you fly by the seat of your pants?

Have a beeautiful day!
Now remember to do something that you love.

Oh, and if you have a chance stop back by tomorrow. I will show you snippets from my garden and there just may be a new house stitch .🏡 ❤

As Always,

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Melisa

Thank you for the sweet visit.

    1. Oh I am so excited that you finished Halloween House Gabi. I hope you enjoyed every stitch. Halloween will be here before we know it. I do need to begin working on more Halloween and fall stuff myself. I hope it is not too hot when you go out to the garden. Have a very lovely day. Hugs.

  3. Right now, my embroidery is on standby.
It's too hot, and all I can think about is my vacation...hahaha.
However, I need to finish some stitches for July 30th when I'm participating in a challenge.
I like your organization, Melisa! : it allows you to embroider several things at the same time without getting bored and to progress through the projects little by little.

    1. Happy Tuesday, Isabel. Oh how exciting to be getting ready for your vacation! That would be on my mind as well. I hope that you have a wonderful relaxing time with many adventures as well. I am sure you will get all of the stitching that you need to have completed before your deadline. I am cheering you on. Stay cool , sweet friend. Hugs.

  4. The watermelon looks so cute, what an original idea! Your counted cross stitching looks so nice. I always think the stitches look so tiny, it would make my eyes tired to stitch those. That's why I applique in the evening, my eyes get tired and that's what I need before I go to bed. Happy stitching!

    1. Isn't that watermelon something? LOL. Oh yes, my eyes get tired too. Some days are better days than others in respect to quilting and stitching, plus it depends on the time of the day for me. Thank you for the sweet visit, Gretchen. Hugs.

  6. Speaking of wonky stitches, my Kawandi-style project is full of those--this first row is a "bear"--I've removed stitches two times now--and no more--I think I'll call it "Wonkified Kawandi" hahaha.
All those flapping fabrics and multiple layers are a real challenge...but fun!!:)))
I think that watermelon Jack is a hoot!! [Your Mom sounds a lot like mine was--a real pistol...]
    I do miss her still....
Hope your rest of the week sewing goes well...hugs, Julierose

    1. LOL Wonkified I love that. I have to admit Julierose, my heart tugs at wonky stitches in quilts- especially when in a Kawandi. They bring such warmth and love to a handmade piece. I used to watch an artist on Youtube from CA who made Kawandis. I was just fascinated , but for the life of me I cannot remember her name. You may know who I am talking about. Maybe one day I will try one; they seem so liberating. Oh yes, my Mom is my bestie as in my Dad. We do have a great time. I wish you a lovely week as well. Warm hugs.

  7. Wow....sometimes I wish I could stick to a schedule but that went out the window when I retired! Speaking of watermelons...here in a tiny town in NC called Fair Bluff this Saturday is our annual Watermelon Festival...all things watermelon including music, parade, eating contest n queen! Good old folksy fun!

    1. Oh Susan , retirement is all about living fancy free and doing what you like. Hee! Hee! I do not always stick to my schedule, but it is fun challenge to try. LOL. A Watermelon Festival! How fun! I love hometown festivals - perfect summertime fun. Are there a lot of watermelon farmers in your area? I am going to have to look that up and see if there are photos of the festival. If you go ,I hope you have a grand time and eat a slice of watermelon for me. Hugs.

  8. That's quite a schedule! I' do have a blogging schedule and a chore schedule, but I've never been able to do more than a to do list for my stitching time. You have some very fun projects in the works. I do sympathize with the eye comment. Getting back to cross stitching hasn't been easy on those, new cheaters were required. How was I ever able to stitch that small without any magnification?

    1. LOL I sometimes am ambitious, Kate. I try to make a list of things to do everyday, but not all get checked off the list and I am flexible so it is fine with me. Getting older is for the birds- my eyes and hands are just not what they used to be. But I keep stitching just for the joy of it. Have a wonderful day. Hugs.

  9. Those watermelons are genius! I thought of you as I was embroidering last night, you always have such sweet patterns. I am struggling with some double vision right now, so I not only am wearing readers, but also have one of those lighted magnifiers around my neck - talk about Granny! LOL!

    ReplyDelete

    1. Oh I have looked into those magnifiers, Linda. I am going to put that on my Christmas list. I bet that would help out a lot especially when we are camping. Do you know what is causing your double vision? I hope it does not cause you to have headaches and do take time to rest your eyes. I wish you a lovely day and thank you for the sweet visit, Linda. Hugs.

    1. Isn't that watermelon clever? LOL. I am not always able to keep my schedule, but it is fun to try. I have to constantly have something in my hand- hubby says it is an obsession of mine. I guess he is right. LOL. Have a beautiful day, Terry. Hugs.

  11. Good morning! I'm sort of a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kinda gal. I have finished one of the quilts that have been sitting, crying, for not being finished. ;-) The Christmas ornaments are all stitched but not completely finished for gift giving. We're having the RV worked on today - one of the slide-outs isn't working - makes it hard to travel :-o But, since we're not leaving until after the first of September, we're ok. So, I'll just be stitching a little here, a little there. Those Halloween melons are so funny - will have to find one! Blessings!

    1. Good afternoon, Donna. Nothing wrong with flying by the seat of your pants is there? It leads to more adventures. Woo Hoo on finishing your quilt! I am so excited for you. You sound like how I felt on my Easter quilt. I thought I would never finish it. Oh bummer on the slides. Is it something electrical? I hope it will be a quick fix. Happy hunting for a Halloween melon. Hugs.

  12. That watermelon stack is adorable. I am not a fly by the seat of my pants kind of gal. I set up a monthly plan and tend to go with it for my stitching. If I need to add things, then I do. It works for me, but I know it might stress others out. Happy Tuesday!

    1. Happy Tuesday, Robin. I like the idea of a monthly plan - that is a good idea. I do need to think about doing that as well- it gives you an idea of an end game doesn't it? I run back and forth between my schedule and then throwing my hands in the air and following the wind. LOL. Have a wonderful day. Hugs

  13. So excited for another house - I am down to 13 to go on my list of all of the houses!! Thank yor for your generosity in sharing them with us. I do cross stitch and sew a little each day in-between watching all five of my grandkids at times. The two youngest will be going to kindergarten this year and my oldest daughter finished her college and got her teaching degree so I will not be babysitting my youngest granddaughter full time and will be a little bored during the week when they are all in school - so bored I offered to go do laundry a couple of afternoons at my daughters house when she starts teaching full time - she has not worked outside of the house since her oldest was born and she is now going into middle school. Thank you again for sharing so many cross stitch patterns that I have so many to keep me busy - I so appreciate you - Carrie

    1. Happy Tuesday, Carrie. Oh my you keep a busy but wonderful schedule of watching your precious grandchildren. How fortunate are you to have 5 . I just have the 2. You will certainly miss them when they are in school. I felt lonely too when mine started. Myself and their other Nana each have certain days that we pick them up from school in order to make sure we get our grandma time in. LOL. There is nothing like them is there. Congratulations to your daughter on finishing her degree. I hope she has a wonderful and exciting new school year. What a blessing you are to help her with the laundry. I hope you like the new little house. It was a super quick one to stitch. I hope to start a new one this week-- well hopefully. LOL Hugs and Blessings.

It is fun to hip hop from project to project with glee- well at least I think so. LOL. I am focusing on summer too, but fall is buzzing in my ear. It is fun to put in a few stitches on fall even for just a few minutes. Have an awesome day, dear. Hugs.

    1. Good afternoon, dear Debra and Happy Tuesday. Escaping the heat and the humidity and quilting the day away sounds like a dream to me. It is in the 90's here today. We have had a rainy couple of days . I am not sure if we will have a pop up shower or not. How exciting you are getting more blooms! You are going to be in mater Heaven. Our tommy Toes are endless and the Beefsteaks are doing fabulous but the Better Boys have bloom rot- oh bother so we had to remove them. Soon the old canner will come out. Right now we are filling up our freezer though. What a lovely day with your quilties you must have had. I bet you came home full of inspiration. I wish you a wonderful day. Now you stay cool, Sweetie. Hugs.

    1. Oh you are so welcome, Trish. Miss Bee is adorable. I hope you have a great day of stitching. You gotta sneak in as much stitching time as possible when the grands are not there don't you. My grandsons are coming later this evening so I will pull out my embroidery then. Most of the time they keep me on my toes and we are off and about. You know how that is don't you. LOL. Trish, I am so honored that you have stitched some of my ornaments. I hope you enjoyed every one of them. Have a wonderful day stitching away. Hugs.

  19. A few years ago, Angela, who hosts the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, did a Tiny Tuesday sampler project through the year with a new tiny quilt block to make each week. It was so fun - I love the quilt I made from that project. I'm not sure what I'll be stitching on today yet - the pretty yellow flowers in a basket that you shared yesterday is calling to me! That watermelon jack-o'lantern is adorable - your mom knows just what you would love!
