I am having a very crumby day! 😀
Oh no, don't get me wrong; not a bad day- a crumby day -inspired by sweet Diann at Little Penguin Quilts and her tablescrap placemats.🤗
So I pulled out some orange scraps leftover from last year's Autumn 16 patch project and have happily sewing willy nilly for an hour or so.
But enough of that. Let's take a short Wordless Wednesday stroll out to the farm.

I'm liking the direction that your orange scraps are taking! I'm impressed that the tobacco sticks have held up so well after more than 100 years!
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Terry. I am having a ball whittling down the scraps. I have some ideas but I am not sure how to pull them off yet. There are 100's probably 1000's of tobacco sticks some of which were handed down from other farmers whose family used to tobacco farm. The sticks are stacked in bundles on pallets in the barn. Every now and then I use them for tomato stakes. Those sticks hold a lot of fond memories of helping in the tobacco fields. LOL Have a wonderful evening. Hugs and Blessings.

ReplyDeleteLOL Oreo is a smart one! Hee! Hee! She rarely visits the barn. She doesn't want to hang with the barn cats. LOL, Bless her heart ;so it was a treat to see her in the barn on the tractor. LOL Edna certainly needed some cheering up. I get tickled by Edna's mood . My hubby is not as amused by her. ReplyDeleteAaw thank you so much, Alicia. It has been a lot of fun working with those little crumbs plus they have made a great leader/ender project as I was piecing my other blocks. I hope to work on the crumbs some more tomorrow. Oh yes, Edna and Oreo are getting along fine. They are 2 of my favorites to photograph. DeleteGood Morning! Thank you for the tour! Poor Edna - it's like she's saying, "Enough already!" LOL. Looking at all those tobacco sticks! Can you do anything with them? Just curious. ;-) Not much new here - dh recovering from hand surgery - he has a cast on his hand/arm that looks like the arm on "Hellboy" - the movie. :-/ LOL! Have a blessed day, my friend!

ReplyDeleteOh she does as do you, Linda. I just wished I had more time in the day to do all of the projects. Don't you? Oh the tobacco farm used to have the rich aroma of freshly cut tobacco. Nowadays the smell of fresh cut hay has taken over. LOL. Fields were cut and baled last week. Which I do love the smell of hay; it brings back fond memories of riding on the hay wagon as a youngin' . Those stakes must be hardwood to last so long. Do you ever use any of them for other things? We got a shot of Edna's best side. Haha Oreo looks to be just a little thing yet. Such pretty coloring. I can hear the bees buzzing.
ReplyDeleteOh they can, Ginny and I am having a ball working on this little basket of scraps. It makes me fill like I am accomplishing something by clearing out a bin. Oh yes, that is a corncrib. It has been on the property for over 60 years. Usually it is painted red like all of the old barn structures were. We have 100's of tobacco sticks. I have used them for tomato stakes and decorations. I have even hung curtains from a stake for a prim look. I would love for hubby to make me a tobacco stick star. LOL Edna is a hoot isn't she. I never know what mood she will be in and I guess that is why I love her- she has a personality. LOL. Thank you for the sweet Thursday visit. I hope your day is off to an awesome start. Hugs.

They refused to be barn cats, though Oreo was visiting the barn on this particular day. After being introduced to the barn, Oreo and her sis high tailed it down to the house and made their claim. DeleteGlad you're having fun with those crumbs, Melisa!! It's good to see Edna again. I've had two Oreos and they looked just like your sweet little Oreo. I miss them. One of them use to put his arms around my neck and hug me. He was the best! Hugs!
