"Why are you in such a bustle? " asked Mr. Pinker as I brushed past him.
"I have a block to piece. " I hurried into the quilt room as Mr. Pinker stood silently watching .
When all of a sudden... "Clank , Thump, Crash! KaBlam!!!!"
"Oh Butterfingers! " I screamed in frustration as I dodged a small tote tumbling to the floor.
Mr. Pinker rushed to the quilt room doorway.
"What's going on in here?" he inquired.
"Grumble! Grumble! " I snarled. " My rolling cart gave way from the pressure of the totes and .... Boo Hoo... look at all of this mess!"
Mr. Pinker stood wide eyed saying nothing. Slowly but surely, he began to back out of the doorway as I gathered an armload of fabrics and rushed out of the room - only stopping briefly mind you to turn around and stick my tongue out at the protruding mess bulging from the quilt room. 😜"I am out of here! " I said and with that I went to the living room to sort and cut my fabrics.
Meanwhile, Mr. Pinker had quietly retreated to the safety of the downstairs.
Soon I was stroking and petting all of the pretty calicoes and prints . All was good again.
After making a selection of fabrics, I began to cut out the strips for Melva's 8th block called Heart .
"This looks like a fun one to piece. " I said to no one in particular. I could feel a sense of calmness wash over me.
After cutting the fabrics , I went to a spare sewing machine that I had tucked in the corner and began piecing the block. And a short time later, the Heart block was all pieced.
Soon a sweet aroma drifted from the kitchen. Mr. Pinker was baking. I proudly took my block to the kitchen.
" How are you doing? " asked Mr. Pinker.
" I am in love- look at my block."
"Pretty " said Mr. Pinker. "Lookie what I have here. " Mr. Pinker then pulled a Toll House pie from the oven.
"Eeeh" I squealed in delight. Yes, all was good . Well except for the mess in the quilting room. But I will have to muster up some strength to tackle that . Perhaps that is a weekend job. 😏😜

Pretty, pretty, pretty! You did a great job. The quilt looks as it comes from the little house.
ReplyDeleteOh how I loved this series on TV. Most of all Mrs. Olsen when she cried: Williiiie.
We still can watch it.
Hope you are fine,
Gabi
LOL I think Mrs. Olsen was one of my favorites as well. She was a hoot as was Nellie. Thank you so much for the kind compliment on my blocks , Gabi. I am loving every minute of the sew along. I hope you are having a great weekend. Hugs.
DeleteOh no, oh no!!!! Dagnabbit, I hate when that happens. Don't fret about it - it'll wait for you and be there when you're ready to tackle it. LOL Oh, that heart block is wonderful and is easily my favorite. I tried to x-stitch today but the strong antibiotic I'm on makes me very sleepy. Thank you for the get well wishes - very appreciated. Happy Thursday! Hugs, hugs, hugs, DarleneJ
ReplyDeleteI do hope you are feeling better, Miss Darlene. You get all of the rest that you need. Yes, meds do that sometimes . I have slowed down over the last year due to mine. It stinks getting older. LOL . Well the mess is still - a mess. I have not had the strength to tackle that but I will pep myself up soon and tackle that project. Hee ! Hee! Warm hugs.
DeleteGood Morning! Oh rats! I too hate when that happens - and always at a bad time - of course, it's never a good time for it to happen, is it? And especially when the box of floss gets updumped...now that deserves chocolate! :-) Your heart is gorgeous - the colors are perfect! I haven't even started on the quilt but am saving the pdf's for later because I really want to make it! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I have been there done that on dropping the box of flosses too. LOL. Disasters in the craft room- what can we do? LOL I think I will pack up some of my fabrics this week and try to tackle the craft room, but usually that leads me down a rabbit hole of finding fabric and wanting to make something. Hee! Hee! Thank you for the sweet visit, Donna. Hugs.
DeleteLovely Melva block finish, Melisa--I like your color choice--the heart really stand out so well...
ReplyDeletenice work;)))
--I lately had a "paper caper" where a whole box of pre-cuts just slipped right through my hands and dumped upside-down (of course) on the floor...so I totally get it!! Ah well, so it goes, right? Hands and knees is not my favorite position these days--it's the "getting up" that gets to me!! oof-dah!! ;((((
Hugs, Julierose
Oh goodness , those little disasters always seem to happen right when we are in the middle of something or about to begin a project. Right? I hope you were able to get everything reorganized. I know what you mean about getting up. Thank you for the sweet Friday visit, Julierose. I hope you are having a great weekend. Hugs.
DeleteThe way you write your posts has me chuckling!
ReplyDeleteLOL thank you so much, Vicki. It was one of those days where I had to laugh and go on and not worry about the mess that awaits me in the craft room. Hee! Hee! Have a great weekend. Hugs.
DeleteIt is always a precarious situation with my crafting areas. I'm glad you forged on and finished your block. What a precious hubby to bake you a pie!
ReplyDeletePrecarious is a good word to describe my craft room too, Jeanna. LOL. I guess us crafters just need stuff. Which sometimes gets us in trouble. LOL. Oh yes, hubby and I both love pies. He makes a wonderful Toll House Pie that is hard to resist. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteYour heart block looks fantastic, Melisa. Plus Toll House pie!
ReplyDeleteThe pie was yummmmy , Robin! We have been on a Toll House Pie kick here lately. It also helped ease the pain of the disaster in the quilt room earlier. LOL. Thank you for the sweet visit, Robin. Hugs.
DeleteLol how entertaining, and Mr Pinker made a Toll House Pie - yum! He knows what to bake to give you strength to tackle that spill. LOVE your heart!!
ReplyDeleteHe sure does, Linda. We are like you- we love pies. Here lately the Toll House Pie has been the one he has been favoring. It sure made the evening a lot better after the avalanche of fabric in the quilt room. LOL. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteMr. Pinker knew just what you needed after that mishap in your quilting room! Your blocks all look great, girl! Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings.
ReplyDeleteHe sure did, Brenda! And it brightened up my evening for sure. I am thrilled the pieces as to how my blocks are turning out. I am already dreaming of the borders. Thank you for stopping by , Brenda. Hugs.
DeleteOMGoodness! Hope things are easily put to rights in your sewing room. Your heart block is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteHow nice of Mr. P to make something to perk up your spirits.
DeleteOh thank you so much, Ginny. My sewing room is a disaster. It does need a good sprucing up and that was even before the fabric avalanche. LOL. But yep, Mr. P perked my spirits right up. The pie was yummy. Thank you for the sweet visit. Warm hugs
DeleteIsn't that pretty?! I love your reds and pinks together, Melisa. I think you nailed this block - or maybe since we are quilters, I should say you "pinned" it!! 😊
ReplyDeleteLOL thank you so much, Diann. I had a great time playing with the fabrics for the heart. It pieced up quicker than what I imagined too. I still want to try to piece some like you did yours. Your block is adorable. Have a great weekend. Hugs.
DeleteBeautiful block! Love your heart. I was shopping for embroidery floss this morning and might have pulled up the summer sampler and grabbed all the floss needed for that sew along. Now, to tea dye a piece of aida so I am all set for it to travel with me to Alaska next month.
ReplyDeleteOh I am so honored that you are joining me in the Sew Along, Deb. I hope you enjoy every minute of the stitch . You are one lucky gal to get to travel to Alaska. I sure hope you take lots of pictures and share them with us. I bet you are very anxious and excited. Thank you for the sweet afternoon visit. Hugs.
DeleteEach and every block looks so pretty, Melisa! Hope the mess can be taken care of soon--the good thing about messes like that is you never know what treasures you might find :) Enjoy that yummy sounding pie!
ReplyDeleteLOL that is so true, Carol. Usually when I tackle cleaning the quilt room, I find myself going down a rabbit hole and finding more projects to work on. LOL. Thank you for the sweet Friday visit. I hope your weekend has been a lovely one. Hugs.
DeleteThe heart block looks great - the colors are perfect. I love all the blocks in this quilt. I am saving each block for later this summer. Melva has put together a wonderful QAL for the Little House
ReplyDeleteOn the Prairie. You have had an exciting morning - going through the crash items may be fun. Enjoy the Toll House pie - it was very nice of Mr. Pinker to make it. Have a great day. Alicia
Oh yes, Melva's SAL has been so fun. I have looked forward to each and every block. I am so happy that you will be working on this quilt later this summer. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. I still haven't tackled the quilt room mess, but I will this week. There is no telling what I will find in the avalanche of fabric. Hee! Hee! Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteI really like the new block!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a scare with the fabric bag incident!!
Luckily Mr. Pinker made the cake!!
Hugs
Aaw thank you so much, Isabel. The Heart block was a delight to piece. Mr. Pinker's pie certainly ended the day on a high note along with the easy peasy block that Melva shared. I hope your weekend has been a beautiful one. Hugs.
DeleteMr. Pinker rocks. . .I'm glad that the tote didn't hurt you when it fell. Who knows, maybe you will rediscover some treasurers as you repair the damage that happened. Your heart block looks great!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteHe always knows how to lift my spirits that is for sure. I am anxious to see what is in the totes that tumbled. I am sure I will find a project or two that will call my name. LOL. Thank you for the sweet visit, Terry. Hugs.
DeleteOh Melisa, sorry about the CRASH in your sewing room! (... I couldn't help but laugh!) You did deserve the toll house pie! Who has not experienced 'accidents' in the sewing room? It's fun (NOT!) when two cats are hunting geckoes at the top of the shelf and pull down two filled to the brim shoe boxes with small squares! Of course the boxes landed upside down! Darling heart block, so pretty. Love your fabric choices.
ReplyDeleteOh my those silly little kitties. Well it sounds like they were on a mission. But I guess we have to look back at those accidents and laugh what else can we do. LOL. I just had to walk away and continue with my sewing and tackle it another day. Of course hubby's pie made my evening better. LOL Thank you for the sweet visit, Astrid. Hugs.
DeleteSuch pretty blocks! Sorry about the mess, but as we all know, Tollhouse Pie makes everything better. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.
