Good morning , sweet friends. Please do come in and join me. The coffee is piping hot. Cream ? Sugar? Or do you like it black? Perhaps some iced tea? I am so happy that you joined me on this very lovely day. It is supposed to rain, but I am not sure if it will or not. We sure do need it. We are already in a drought- it is definitely dry as dust here in the holler.
I have enjoyed seeing all of the garden tours in blogland these last few days. It is so interesting to see what is blooming and where. Speaking of gardens , do you mind coming outside with me for a minute to see what is going on this week? We won't stay out to awfully long because it is hot and humid .

The snapdragons still look pretty. This is my 1st year growing them.
My Stella De Oro Daylilies look mighty poor this year. Usually they put on a spectacular show. Only a few are blooming. 😏💛
I must say I am one happy gardener. The hummingbirds are happy too. I have a lot of hummers this year.
Speaking of hummingbirds, when Mr. Pinker and I were in Arizona for the winter we visited the Cibola National Wildlife Refuge. Outside of the visitor center was the most unusual but wonderful raised bed with hummingbird feeders. There were hummers all around , but it was hard to get photos of them.
While we are outside, let's sit on the porch for a minute or two. Shall we?
Yesterday, I was on the top porch and walked down the steps to the bottom patio. Low and behold a big snake was sunning itself. Yikesters! I screamed as it started up the steps to the next patio. Mr. Pinker shooed it away. It was just a rat snake, but it scared the bejeebers out of me! 😱 Such is the life of living in the forest.
I have already checked on the porch. No snakes will bother us as we chat. 🐍🐍🐍
Anywhooo.... After 6 years , I finally fully finished "Americana Sampler" by City Stitcher. I just adore it. I think because it is a red log cabin.
The grandsons spent the night last night. As we sat and watched movies, I worked on more Roundabout Doodles. I will be playing catch up on posting those over the next few days.
So today I would like to share "Bunny's Harvest" . This was supposed to be my April Roundabout, but time got away from me. I will be cutting fabric for this block and begin the embroidery this weekend.
My doodles are hand drawn and are never perfect. ❤
UPDATE: JUNE 1, 2026 : I finished the embroidery on Bunny Harvest.
I stitched this little bunny using 2 strands of floss using the back stitch and lazy daisies for the carrots' leaves.
I used the following floss colors just in case you are interested: DMC 921 ( middle carrot) , 470 ( carrot greens) , 898, ( the bunny) , 517 ( jacket) , 3766 ( wind) , mystery light blue for the collar ( DMC 932 would look lovely) , mystery lilac for the scalloped border, and JP Coats 00169 orange for the two end carrots.
UPDATE: JUNE 6, 2026
The Roundabout was stitched on 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" (unfinished) white fabric.
It is framed with 20 - 2 1/2" squares (unfinished) .
The Roundabout Block with Scrappy Borders Measures: 12 1/2" x 12 1/2" ( unfinished) .
I also finished Welcoming March Roundabout. It was stitched on an 8 1/2" square piece of fabric.
Previous Roundabouts include: Frosty Chill Roundabout, Love Mail Roundabout , and Welcoming March Roundabout Doodle and Bunny Harvest Roundabout.
Well, I guess we best get in the house and cool off before the rain comes . Have I talked your ears off? 😀😁 I sure hope not, but it was such a joy that you stopped by and visited me today.

Howdeeeeeeeeeeee - said like Miss Minnie Pearl (I'm dating myself - LOL). Another delightful and fun post from The Holler. Today my oldest grandson was coming to take me for a scheduled medical procedure, so I decided to sit outside to wait for him. I started to sit in one of the metal porch chairs - oh hale no - it was hotter than hot. Dang it was HOT, HOT, HOT outdoors. It's time to stay indoors. I have to say Minnie Pearl was my favorite along with Goober of course and who can forget Grandpa. LOL. I hope your medical appointment went well, sweet friend. How sweet that your dear grandson took you. I have been keeping up with the weather in AZ . You got that right- it is hot , hot , hot out there!!! Wowzers ! DeleteGood morning! And daaaang, lady, how could I have missed all those round abouts? I'll be checking those out! Yeah, it's pretty hot here too - I walk outside to check on the chickens and I'm like "can't you check on yourselves today?" Not likely. Once they're let loose and it's around 90, they like to hole up under the RV - and I do mean hole up! Even Dash, who is not a fan of chickens, goes there too. It's a good day to stay in and cut up fabric for some quilts! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteOh how funny that your chickens are getting under the RV. Well I guess it is not to you though. I did not know they would do that, but I guess they are getting some shade. I remember mine used to hole up in the flower beds. Goodness would they make a mess, but I loved them so. I bet yours are dolls though. Are they hard to get out from under the RV? Do stay cool sweet friend. I hope you were able to get a lot accomplished. Hugs.

DeleteI planted some dianthus just the other day! It's one of my favorite flowers. Looks like your hydrangeas are going to be really pretty, too. The Amercana Sampler is a beauty - congratulations on your finish! Thanks for the new embroidery design. I've been printing those out, but haven't started any yet. DeleteYour garden looks lush and wonderful. Your plants are thanking you for the extra space you tried to hide from Mr Pinker ;) and they look very happy. I hope you get some rain. I would gladly share ours, but we usually get less than any of the surrounding areas. Still, we have rain in our forecast for the next couple weeks - very happy about that. Your Americana Sampler is gorgeous!

I will get done what I can before the severe heat sets in. Thankfully, we did get some rain. I hope you did too. I think a lot of the country needs the rain right now. ReplyDeleteA couple years ago we had a huge black snake take up residence in our garage--my DH shooed it out finally--I still look around carefully when i go into the garage--Ya Think???? Yikes!!

Oh goodness, Julierose. I hope you never stumbled upon the snake yourself while in the garage. I think I would keep my eyes peeled as well. I was startled to see the one on our patio . DeleteI'll have coffee a d cream please, thanks so much. I dont know what I would do if a snake crossed my path. But that's not likely to happen, as there are no snakes in New Zealand, thank goodness. Unlike nearby Australia, they have some of the deadliest snakes in the world!
ReplyDeleteOh that is so interesting, Jenny. I did not know that there were no snakes in New Zealand. My hubby was talking the other day about that is one place that he would like to visit . Most snakes around here are not dangerous, but I am not good at identifying them. We do have some poisonous ones like copperheads which we have encountered on the patio before. Uggh. Thankfully, it has been years since we have seen one of them. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
