Slow Sunday Porch Stitching

Happy Slow Stitching Sunday. Please do join me on the porch as we enjoy some spicy talk and a bit of stitching. 🤗

There is enough room for us all on the front porch swing. I will just scooch over, and we will have a grand ole' time.

Please forgive me . I forgot to offer you a cup of coffee or perhaps some tea.

So what are you working on today? Me? Well,  my needle and thread are weaving in and out of my  Tumbleweeds quilt that I began quilting in January.

Do you want to see my progress? I would love to show you.

I have moved down to the 2nd row. One block complete and time to move the hoop to the next one.

Quilting wavy lines in the 1" sashings.

Oh, and let me show you what else I am working on . Bent Creek's freebie Surrounded By Joy. The border is complete and now onto the letters. This is my "Santa Sunday" stitch. I will continue working on it as we sit and chat.

Hmmm... I don't think I showed you my peg rack on the door all dressed for Easter . Did I? Last year, I was inspired to pull out an old peg rack and hang it on the door after seeing a Youtuber do the same.  For Easter , I filled it with baskets, vintage children dresses and of course quilted stockings waiting to be filled by the Easter bunny.  I even hung up one of my girl's baby shoes. I am still looking for the mate. I have seen several of my favorite Youtube decorators use children's shoes in their decor so I thought I would do the same.  Lots of warm memories are hanging from the peg rack.

I certainly wasn't ready to take down my peg rack yet. But I did want to change it for the month. Sooo...down came the stockings and a new bunch of "clutter " took their place. The theme: Strawberries! 🍓🍓🍓🍓

The peg rack has aprons, a bonnet and vintage treasures.

The vintage scale is my newest find.

On Friday, I shared the strawberry themed quilts that I am decorating the small foyer with.

More strawberries are coming out.

The foyer shelf is being filled to the brim with strawberry goodness.

Hmmm ... What else? Well I have a finish! Hip Hip Hooray! I finished  Blackbird Designs' "Bird in Hand". This darling chart was sent to me from dear Sonja. Thank you Sonja I have loved every stitch . ❤ I will be making it into a pin pillow similar to the one shown.

Later this evening, I hope to work more on my gardens. Late yesterday , I posted a garden update showing it in transition.

Well, Sweeties, I guess we have some stitching and quilting to do . Don't we? So let's get started. Thank you for joining me on the porch today.

As Always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting,

 y'all

  1. So much "quilting and stitching candy" in your home. I'd love to join you on your lovely porch swing. I'll take a tall glass of sweet tea please and thank you. I stayed up late last night working on another small quilt and had lots of fun. This morning I made a chicken salad and then spent the day x-stitching and watching a couple of movies. Enjoy your Sunday. Big Hugs, DarleneJ

    1. A tall glass of iced sweet tea is waiting for you , Miss Darlene. It is a joy that you joined me on my porch today. Eeeh another small quilt in the works? You go , girl! It sounds like you had the most wonderful weekend. I was perusing through my Little Quilts book yesterday and thinking about you. I am itching to start some new quilting projects myself but alas I have company coming this week so you know what that means- the house needs a good cleaning first. LOL. Thank you for the sweet Sunday visit. Hugs.

    1. Aaw shucks, thank you so much, Donna. I have to admit. I have good days at hand quilting and bad days. Today was a good day. I would like to get at least 1 block this finished this week. We shall see. Have a wonderful week and thank you for stopping by. Hugs.

  3. Oooh just lovely pillows on your front porch glider...[I remember sitting at my Grand-mere's on their glider while it was warm and raining--she had a little bamboo side curtain to protect us and we'd just rock away the afternoon...]
Your little peg rack holds so many lovely items--lots of memories there...what a fun idea...
I like your Strawberry themed foyer shelf unit--what a great spot to decorate with your lovely seasonal items...
45 here this foggy morning--a bit damp and chilly with that mist out there. I hope your Sunday is filled with a lot of fun quilting...hugs, Julierose

    1. Happy Sunday, Julierose. It warms my heart that my porch brought back fond memories of spending time at your Grand-mere's. Her porch sounds lovely. You reminded me that Mom used to have a bamboo curtain too block out the evening sun. I am not sure why she took it down. It was always a lovely place to sit. Now we congregate on the back porch. Now it is down right chilly in your neck of the woods. I do hope that it warmed up by mid day. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.

  8. good morning lovely Melisa.
i am ready to join you on your porch swing this morning. it looks like a very beautiful day to be enjoying it outside, with friends, on a porch swing. ah the beauty!!!
thank you for showing us your gorgeous green plants that are growing on your walkway. i have, basically, a granite yard covered with spots of dirt. anything i grow i need to grow in a plant pot. it's okay i have managed to keep a majority of my plants growing. i just love nature. every flower, every tree, every growing thing is different than the next. it is unique. just like people.
i am sorting thru cross stitch and quilt patterns while i am laid up. i have soooooo many patterns. wowza!!! i am a paper using fanatic. i need to slowdown and be more selective on what patterns i print. i know pinker n punkin patterns will always get a printout.
i love your peg rack. you are so creative. so many magical memories hanging in plain view. i bet every time you look at the rack memories come rushing back in. soooooo very special. i love it.
i guess i better get up off the porch swing with iced tea in hand and mosey on home. i have lots more pattern sorting to do.
thank you so much for the invite. we will have to do it again really soon.
have a wonderful, blessed day sweet Melisa.
blessings and love are on the way to you.
a great big squeezy bear hug is on the way to you.

Each bloom and plant is unique. It brings me peace to be outside and enjoying nature. Oh, I had to giggle when you said you were a paper using fanatic. Hee! Hee! I am too!!! I cannot tell you how many notebooks of patterns I have printed and I am still printing them too. Oh well, I give in to my "addiction". Hee! Hee! It sounds like you are making good use of your down time. I hope that PT is going well and any discomfort is beginning to subside. Have a wonderful week and do take care, sweet friend. Surrounded by Joy is stitching up quicker than I expected. It is a darling design. Oh how fun that you found your peg rack. I bet you can find a place for it. Usually I have a wreath on my door, but I just hung the peg rack from the door wreath hanger and hung stuff on the peg rack evenly . Have a blessed week. Warm hugs.
