This time of the year gets me in the mood for Spring cleaning.
| Welcome, y'all and Happy Friday! |
I may work on her 2nd closet today.
Has the warmer weather got you in the mood for cleaning?
Yesterday, I spotted the first snake of the season. YIKESTERS!. It was warming itself in the middle of the road just off from the driveway. It had slithered its way down our hill.
Hmmm . What else? Well...I changed out my quilt on the "shelf quilt rack" above my Great Grandma Annie's buffet. I bought this quilt in Alabama 2 years ago. It is hand quilted. The Spring colors brighten up the living room.
Bunnies , milk glass , and stitched pieces were sprinkled on the buffet for a Spring vignette. To be honest, I did not put much effort into decorating this Easter. Oh well, it will get me through the next few weeks unless I get a wild hair and decide to change it.
Did I show you Halloween Potion Jar , a sweet freebie from my friend , Dianet at Parchesdeamor blogspot?
Well I finished the stitching awhile back and finally was able to sit down and FFO this precious jar.
I made it into the most darling Halloween pin pillow and added some wool yarn trim which I twisted and tacked along the seams. What do you think? I say this little jar is one cutie patootie if I do say so myself. Thank you, Dianet for sharing this darling little jar. The sweet little face makes me smile.
I guess I best get off here. I have a grocery pickup here soon. Then perhaps, I can sit back , put up my feet and enjoy some slow stitching time. Here , Here for the weekend! Enjoy your day, Sweetness!
As Always...
Happy Stitching and Quilting,
y'all

I understand the need to do some spring cleaning because I've been feeling the same way. My cleaning is involving purging things that need to GO! LOL I've even been questioning why I continue to quilt. There's definitely going to be some purging - way too many quilts!!! When I think about quilting, I have little to no desire to make large quilts - small quilts really speak loudly to me. Oh well. Enjoy your Friday. Do something fun! Big Hugs, DarleneJ
ReplyDeleteOh , I know what you mean, Darlene. Hubby jokes that we are "quilt poor" . Hee! Hee! He says we will never run out of them. I love working on the little quilts too. I just need to get some of them quilted. Oh well, I will get to them sometime. I hope you have had a great weekend. Big Hugs.
DeleteI need to get into the mood for some spring cleaning, namely in the attic. Good for you at making progress on the chores and on some stitching stuff.
ReplyDeleteI have to be in the mood to do the "spring cleaning " that is for sure. I wish you all the best when you decide to tackle the attic, Kate. I got up in our attic the other day; it needs a good straightening up too. Have a lovely weekend Hugs.
DeleteI appreciate that you are mixing up seasons with spring cleaning and Halloween stitching. Halloween is my favorite and it makes me happy to see a little bit of it year round.
ReplyDeleteAaw thank you so much.I love Halloween too. I sorta hop around the holidays. Right now I have Christmas and Halloween stitching in the works. I do need to think about a Thanksgiving piece. Just a few stitches here and there and eventually they get done. Have a blessed weekend. Hugs.
DeleteLovely Wedding Ring quilt--such soft colors makes you think of Spring:)) Tidying up always gets my energies flowing...Nice that it's warm enough to sit out for you--only 30 here this morning with frost --so not quite yet...the winds off the still cold ocean waters keep us cooler in the springtime...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteAww thank you so much, Julierose. I was thrilled to pick up the Wedding Ring quilt. I have always wanted one, but have been too intimidated to make one. Brrr it is cold in your neck of the woods. But being near the ocean sounds divine. Wishing you warmer weather in the near future. I hope your day has been a lovely one. Hugs.
DeleteIt sounds like you had a busy and productive day, Melisa. Bruce has been hearing a turkey or two in the mornings when he takes Max out. Yikes is right on the snake. Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteOh how wonderful, Robin that you have turkeys in your holler too. I think I have been hearing hens . I haven't heard any gobblers yet. Hopefully , that will be the last snake I will see for the season- fingers crossed. Hugs and Blessings.
DeleteThat Alabama quilt is beautiful! Getting a closet cleaned and making more space is huge in my book. Yes I've been in the mood to clean and garden and well, just do it all! Hope you get a chance to breathe this weekend and enjoy this spring. Take care!
ReplyDeleteI was super happy to get the closet organized and was surprised I was able to make room for more . I hope you have had a good day cleaning and gardening , Linda. Is it starting to heat up in your neck of the woods yet? Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteOMGoodness! That yellow coffee mug is beautiful! The changing of the quilt on the buffet is perfect for the new season and I always spy the milkglass, which was my mom's and is now my good dishes. So pretty. The little potions bottle stitch is a bit spooky but cute.
ReplyDeleteHappy Saturday, Ginny. I think that little mug is one of my favorites. I think I got it from the Dollar General. It is such a treasure that you have your Mom's milk glass dishes. I know you cherish them and the memories they hold. My Mom started collecting them in the 60's and used the S&H stamps to acquire the few she has. I have always admired milkglass. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteMy house needs a full deep clean.... did I mention I hate cleaning? I've seen the black racer snake around the last few weeks, still makes me jump and gasp every time I see him. I believe one of the chickens found and ate a baby snake.... lets just say I let her enjoy her snack before I shooed her back into the run! Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteYikes! I would jump too. Do the snakes ever bother your chickens or the eggs? I don't blame you on letting Mrs. Chicken enjoy her snack. I had a snake get in the house years ago ; it scared me to death. LOL. Thank you for the sweet visit. Enjoy your weekend. Hugs.
DeleteHello Melisa! It is always a joy to see what you are up to. I want to be a minimalist. Alas I am a crafter therefore I am a maximalist. Your Spring decor is adorable. I am over here stitching away on the Summer Stamp SAL. Happy Stitching!
ReplyDeleteLOL I agree it is hard to be a minimalist when one is a crafter. Hee! Hee! We gotta have our supplies . Right? Oh , I am so happy that you are joining me in the Summer Stamp SAL. I have been working on it today too. I sure hope you enjoy it. Warm Hugs.
DeleteThe lovely Dianet creates adorable designs that, like you, she generously shares.
ReplyDeleteI love these friendships and synergies through the web. I'm also doing spring cleaning, tidying up, cleaning, and changing the home decor a bit.
It's going to be a tough weekend of working from home!
Hugs
Oh yes, Miss Dianet is so creative and the sweetest friend as are you Isabel. I started one of Dianet's Christmas stitches last night. I wish you the best as you work on your spring cleaning, Isabel. Remember to take time out for yourself. Warm hugs.
DeleteIt does make you take a step back when you see the first snake of the season! Your pumpkin is a cutie finished as pillow! Well done!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteIt sure does. We have copperheads and rattlesnakes in the area that I live. Fortunately, this was just a black snake. Wheew, I hope it continued across the road. LOL. Thank you for the sweet Friday visit, Terry. Hugs.
DeleteI've been cleaning because I'm hosting my book club on Monday - not sure you can call it Spring Cleaning, but it's good to be doing it! Your pumpkin jar is so cute, Melisa - I love that face. I'm starting some borders for your summer SAL - I want to be ready for the first stamp!
ReplyDeleteOh how fun to be hosting the book club meeting, Diann. I am sure you will have a great time. When company comes is when I usually do my "cleaning" too ; otherwise my quilting and stitching takes over my living room. I am so excited that you are joining me in the Summer SAL. I hope you enjoy it. I have been working on my borders for the large piece too. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteYou and your daughter are like me and mine! I am definitely a maximalist and she is most definitely a minimalist. You have some cute stitching going on. Love the double wedding ring quilt. Enjoy your spring cleaning.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Isn't that funny how that works? Both my girls are minimalist, but one is more than the other. Maybe one day the "collecting" bug will bite them. Hee! Hee! I hope you had a great weekend and was able to squeeze in some quilting time, Brenda. Hugs.
DeleteI have been spring cleaning and rearranging my home - starting with the cross stitch/quilting areas. As I am working on projects they seem to take over the family room and dining room. I am collecting items we haven’t used to donate. I also have things belonging to 3 adult children - I have given up organizing this area LOL. The quilt is a colorful addition to your spring display. Thanks for sharing - Alicia
ReplyDeleteAlicia , my house is the same way. The cross stitching and quilting has taken over my living room. When company comes, I shuffle the projects into the quilt room only to be pulled out again later. LOL. I wish you all the best in your spring cleaning and do take time to enjoy your stitching time. Have a wonderful weekend. Warm hugs and Blessings
DeleteWell, what spring decorating you did do looks lovely, Melisa! I, too, didn't put out as much "stuff" as normal. Our spring weather has been so up and down that I just wasn't feeling it. Your Halloween potion jar finish is adorable. I'll have to check that one out on Dianet's blog, too! Enjoy your week! ♥
ReplyDeleteHello my beautiful and sweet friend! What a joy to see my Halloween jar posted on your blog! And it turned out so beautiful! I love it and I'm so proud to see it made by you. Thank you, darling, you make me SO happy!
ReplyDeleteYou are ahead of the stitching game with your Halloween pieces. The finished pin pillow is adorable, Melisa. I'm in Florida helping my daughter move. We have done a ton of cleaning in both her old place and the new one. I hope I have the energy to do some when I get home later this week. Also, hoping to catch up on my stitching. In the hoop at the moment is your Summer stamp border.
