Winter Saltbox Freebie

Happy Wednesday! A perfect way to start the day is with a winter freebie. Don't you agree? I always love freebies whether they are cross stitch, quilt patterns, or embroidery.
Do you know what else I love? I absolutely love stitching houses. Whenever we go riding around the neighborhood or go camping, I enjoy looking at other people's homes. I love to see how they have their porch decorated or their yard landscaped or get ideas for a dream addition that will never be .  Lol do you do that?  Down the road  from my home is a little blue house that sits way back in the field . It is so pretty ; it was originally yellow which was even lovelier. I thought of that home as I created this little stitch.

My little saltbox is lit up on this winter day . The fire has the chimneys smoking as a large snowman stands guard outside. A group of cardinals are all that is out, and one has found the perfect resting spot on the snowman's hat.
 This stitch is a small measuring 69 w x 70 H . I stitched mine on 14 count coffee/tea dyed aida  which brought the measurement to  4 7/8" x 5" .

I used what flosses I had on hand which were DMC. The colors used were 931, blanc, 3371, 3345, 221, 898, 782, 311, 414, and 301.

Here it is with a little transferware. The winter blues are so pretty.
The little Prim Winter Tag was a freebie in a previous post .  I finished it on a Dollar General wooden tag that I painted and distressed.

I would be plumb tickled if you decided to put this little chart on your future stitch list. If you are interested, just check out the pdfs below. I am sorry if they print up light in color. I am just creating for fun and am not a professional designer.

These are the letters that I used in one of my previous saltbox houses. I sort of stylized my initials when I stitched the Winter Saltbox . You could easily do the same.

  14. You are so talented!! I love your quilting and your stitching! Thank you for the salt box pattern. It’s really nice! I don’t know how you get things done so quickly-I’m retired and still can’t seem to get as much done! I’m stuck on a sampler with really tiny tiny threads and trying to do Algerian eyelets on it. It has been a challenge and I’m half way done! I’m determined to finish it so I can move on to something else but this salt box may have to take a turn now.

  20. Hi, I want to stitch your beautiful houses, but I’m not having any success printing them. If I get a black and white chart, it’s so tiny, even enlarging it wouldn’t help. Some houses print partially, etc. Is there any way you could add them as PDFs? It Sue would help!
    Thank you,

  21. Would it be possible to put your patterns on your blog post as a PDF? It is next to impossible to get them printed properly!
    Thank you.
