Blue Blazes and Flaming Butterflies!

It's hotter than a  blistered bug in a pepper patch! 😂😃

Welcome , y'all and a Marvelous Monday afternoon to you. ❤🤗

Are you feeling the heat? It was supposed to be in the low 90's today, but by early morning, it was already 98 degrees . But I am not complaining, I sure do love summertime. ❤

Anywhoo! By mid afternoon, I retreated indoors and sat down to the sewing machine, and in no time flat I pieced up the Whatcha MaCall It blocks and the Flaming Butterflies together.

Whatcha Ma Call It Block Tutorial was posted on April 29, 2024.
I appliqued the butterflies while camping Quartzite in January of this year.

Soon I high tailed it to the farm to see if I could snap some happy photos . As soon as I opened the gate Elsie  greeted me with a look . "What are you doing here? " , Elsie mooed.

Hello, Elsie.  "Hmmm, Did someone say the gate is open?"

She walked up to me with a fast gait, but when I reached out my hand she retreated and went up the hill with the other gals.  At that moment, I just knew I better close the gate.

Gertie is enjoying lunch on the hill.

A long snake skin in among the dead thistle.

I made my way to see the bees ,and look at what I found in the beeyard. YIKES! A SNAKE SKIN!!!! Well at least it wasn't the snake, but gosh that sucker is longer than I am tall!!!

The bees were busy buzzing about and gave me no mind.

My favorite Scrappy Yellow Butterfly.

I looked around to see if there was a photo opportunity at the pig barn, but alas with no ladder, I could not hang my quilt.

Soon I made my way back down the road and stopped by the old corn crib. I slung the quilt over the fence and snapped away.

I will take better photos of Flaming Butterflies after I add the borders.

A gentle breezed began to blow Flaming Butterflies until it fell off the fence.

Flaming Butterflies flapping in the breeze.

After picking it back up and snapping a few photos,  I was on my way back down the hill.

Sorry for the wrinkles. It was pressed earlier, but it had a journey while out on the farm. LOL

By that time , Elsie and the gang had made their way down the hill in hopes that the gate was open. They were trying to act real inconspicuous munching away as they eased toward the gate but, I caught on to their game. LOL😀😂🐄🐮🤠 Thank goodness , I  had closed the gate.

I was excited to see Edna, but when she saw the gate was closed she huffed and turned her back to me.

"Oh sweet Edna, do not be mad at me! " I exclaimed.  She grunted swished her tail and was on her way. "Don't you want to see my quilt , Edna?  "

"NEEEEIGH", she said as she continued to the other field.

Meanwhile two of the youngsters were quite inquisitive. Aren't they the cutest?

I will be posting better photos of Flaming Butterflies  in the future. I still have to add a border , but that will have to wait until I purchase some fabric. Do you have any suggestions on colors or prints for the border?

Well that is what has been going on in the holler and farm today.   This evening , I will water my plants and then head back out to the farm and perhaps pick some blackberrries! Eeeeh it's cobbler season! Lol. Thank you for dropping by and don't you get too hot out there!

 As Always...

Happy quilting and stitching, y'all

Another Sunny Scrappy Day

I am knee deep in scraps!

Scraps galore!

Happy Wednesday ,y'all!

I just wanted to pop in and show you what is going on in the quilt room today.

Lots of 2" strips are being cut.

Those strips are being subcut into 3 1/2" strips. And then....

Made into happy colorful rows of 4.

Rows of 4  scrappy strips  measuring 3 1/2" x 6 1/2"

I will be pairing these strips later with yellow 6 1/2" squares, but for now there will be more "stripping." Hee! Hee!

Yes ,  a new quilt is in the works! Aaah why not add another to my every growing list! Might as well.

I think I will call it "Sunny Rails and Happy Trails."

And with the teeny strips  - well I am piecing them into crumb blocks.

Strippy crumb blocks in the works.

Have a wonderful Wednesday and thank you for the sweet visit!

As always,

Happy Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Goings on In the Holler and Mini Flag Sampler Freebie

Rise and Shine , Sunshine! It's Monday already!

May I start your Monday off with a wee patriotic sampler?

The gorgeous fabric star behind the sampler was a darling gift from my dear friend, Patricia. I love it. ❤

It is a quick little stitch. Just grab your red , white and blues and stitch away. 😀

I stitched mine on Saturday while sitting on the porch. By evening time , my wee sampler was completed.

This is s a" Choose Your Own Colors " chart, but if you are interested- I used DMC 815, Blanc, 930, 898, and 413 ( for the letters).

Strawberry Ice Cream Stamp is FFOd. Coming soon will be a header similar to the Spring and Autumn Stamps just in case you want to stitch them all as one piece.

Five more Whatch Ma' Call It Blocks are completed.

They measure 15 1/2" unfinished. I shared the tutorial on this block in my April 29, 2024 post.

Anywhoo, I will be pairing these blocks with The Flaming Butterfly blocks that I appliqued earlier this year.

Summer Checklist is on the finishing table. I embroidered this prim stitch using 2 strands of DMC 898 floss. I will be adding a border and then it will be the hoop by the end of the day.

A sneak peek at a new sampler I have started- right now I am calling it the No Name Sampler ; I haven't thought of a name yet. 😀😏

The beginnings of a new sampler.

Are you tired of seeing Alabama Beauty? 😂😀 I am moving as slow as  molasses on it .  It is my 15 minute a day stitch though I often stitch longer on it.

Isn't the blue star fabric pretty?

That's what is going on in the holler- a little bit of this and that and a whole lot of nothing. 😂😀 If all goes well, perhaps I can post a house freebie this week.  Have a good one, Sweeties and...

As Always...
