Wordless Wednesday Early Spring in Mississippi

Happy , Happy Hump day! Today's post is a Wordless Wednesday post sprinkled with a few words here and there. These are just a few snapshots from our vacation. We spent a lot of time in nature.  I hope you enjoy!

Grenada Lake

Boulders in the middle of nowhere.

Look at all of that pollen on the water.

We found a small cemetery dating back to the 1800's in the woods.

Have a blessed day and thank you for dropping by. 😘💚

  2. I love your nature photos, especially the creek/river ones. Don't you wonder where those big boulders come from? That cemetery is wonderful - what a find!

    1. Hubby and I were perplexed by the boulders because there were no other rocks around like that. It was a nice day to stroll the lake though. Happy Wednesday, Linda and thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.

  4. Great photos - thank you for sharing. We had that kind of pollen up here at Clear Creek. It looked like someone had taken yellow paint to the roads! I was fascinated with that green thing - turns out it's pincushion moss - very appropriate! (Where was google lens when we homeschooled? ) LOL! Blessings

    1. Well how interesting, Donna. I was not sure what that was, but I thought the moss was pretty nifty. I am going to have to add google lens to my phone. The pollen was as thick as molasses at the lake. It is not as bad here but I am still wiping down the patio tables every day. Wheew! Have a great afternoon. Hugs.

    1. LOL don't you just hate all of that pollen, Gabi? As soon as you wash it away, it builds right back up. I cleaned on the patio today, wiping down tables and cleaning doors. I bet you tomorrow it will be covered again. LOL. Thank you for the sweet Wednesday visit. I hope you had a super day. Hugs.

  8. Fun and interesting photos - you come up with creative outdoor pictures! We bought our house in 1986 when I was expecting our first daughter and we have 3 acres with an old cemetery. The oldest are dated to the 1800s and the "newest" is 1903. The cemetery was vandalized for several years before the owners that built the house 3 years before we purchased it tried to put some of the old headstones back up so we are not sure if everything is in the correct places. Over the years we have added a few pets from our daughters and a duck hunting lab my husband had to the cemetery. Old cemeteries are very interesting

    1. Oh how interesting. Have you done any research on the property dating back to the 1800's or looked up the genealogy of any of the people? It would be really neat to find out who lived there originally and what the homestead was like. I wonder if there used to be a church nearby or was this a family cemetery. Old headstones are very interesting to look at . They put so much work and thought into them. I am glad to hear that it is part of your property so you can take care of it . It is sad to hear when others vandalize cemeteries. Thank you for the sweet visit , dear. Warm hugs.

    2. We have had a lot of people over the years visit our little cemetery. It is call Elevation Cemetery and there actually was a Methodist Church that sits where our house is now. We are on the highest point in our county and there are a couple of geodetic markers that are used on our property for surveying at times. In the late 1950s a tornado took out the church. The church owned 4 acres of land with the cemetery and a one room school house and they gave 1 acre to the school. The one room school is still there but has been a private residence ever since we have lived here. We do have some county paperwork the original owners left and they think there are around 75 actual graves in the cemetery. The only time we were "spooked" was the first night we moved in years ago and wondered why the owners sold the house 3 years after they built it - haha! Anyway nothing ever "spooked" us. Our daughters just grew up playing in the cemetery and all of their school friends would have to see it when they came over. Carrie

    1. Isn't that pollen photo something? As I approached , I was not sure what was in the creek until I got closer. The boulders were my favorite too. They were right smack in the middle of the beach and there were no other rocks or boulders elsewhere. I love seeing odd things like that. Thank you for the sweet Wednesday visit, Terry. Warm hugs.

    1. Oh it was, Diann. Very peaceful too- not a soul was around this area. We were not expecting the cemetery . I think there were about 10 headstones hidden amongst the trees. I imagine they are completely hidden once all of the greenery comes out. Hubby caught a few crappie but they were not keepers . But he had a grand ole' time anyway. Thank you for dropping by. Hugs.

  16. I love walking through old cemeteries, family, church, military, love them all. The headstone looks like it reads: Another broken link in our household band. Such a different saying! Thanks for sharing. Love all the pictures! Bobbi

    1. I am the same way, Bobbi. We were walking down a small path when we found this one. There were about 10 headstones .Some were difficult to ready. I am hoping to do a little research and find out more about them. Isn't that epitaph so interesting? It touched me for that is the way I feel about my sis. Thank you for the sweet Wednesday visit. I hope your day was a good one. Hugs.

    1. Aaaw thank you so much, Astrid. Hubby and I like to be outside especially when we can explore new areas. I was wondering the same thing about the people in the cemetery. It was deep in the woods and no evidence of where a structure once was. I would like to research them here soon. It breaks my heart to see a cemetery lost and forgotten. I appreciate the sweet Wednesday visit. Have a blessed day. Hugs.

  21. Thanks for sharing more pictures of your travels with us. Great idea - if you don't find a heart, make one! Old, seemingly forgotten cemeteries make me sad. The idea that all connected to it have passed and no one's left to remember and care for them....just sad. The moss covered rock and the bleached driftwood is beautiful.
