A Happy Scrappy Day

Sunny Saturday Salutations! Welcome, Sweet Peas. How are you doing on this fine Saturday morning? I hope well.

After several days of rain, the sun is supposed to peek through the clouds today. Fingers crossed it makes an appearance.

A rainy day in the holler.

The other day I finally had a chance to sit down to the machine and have a full day of sewing. Boy , was I as happy as a lark as I pieced my red RSC On the Plus Side blocks.  It felt like ages since I had sat down to my machine.

These blocks measure 10 1/2" unfinished.  These scrappy blocks look so pretty all laid out on the floor.

Next up was my Around the Garden blocks. I pieced 5 red blocks. These measure 12  1/2" unfinished.

I will be appliqueing the centers with flowers this  upcoming week.

I rounded out the evening by quilting on my Otis Payne's  Bow Tie quilt.  It is time to move the hoop !

So all in all , it was a very  happy scrappy day!๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š❤๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿค—

Hmmm , so what's on the agenda  for today? Well, I may go with Mr. Pinker to have dinner with his old work buddies or if I stay home, I will be playing in the garden , planting a few seeds and then enjoying the day with the needle and thread.
What are you going to be doing?

 As Always,

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Melisa

Thank you for the sweet visit.

Hugs and Stitches!!!!๐Ÿค—๐Ÿงต❤

Dedicated to my baby sister, Amy whose laughter filled the air.  Love and miss you, Amo.

Time to change out the overflowing tiered tray. Excuse any dust bunnies you may spot in this viewing.  It is time for Spring cleaning. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘ฏ๐Ÿ‘ฏ

I am joining these lovely ladies' link parties. I hope you check them out; they always have so many wonderful projects going on and provide the opportunity for other needleworkers to meet.

    1. Oh how wonderful! I have never heard of Kingsday and had to look it up . So interesting; I learn something new everyday. Baked orange sweets sound delectable! I hope you had a great day at all of the festivities. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.

  2. Your needle is flying again and it appears that you're having lots of fun. You're always so productive. I have to run an errand first thing in the morning and then I hope to spend the rest of the day prepping a couple of hand applique projects. I've been doing some x-stitch but I've got a strong desire to applique. My travel iron bit the dust earlier this week and there's a new waiting for me in my mailbox. Tomorrow should be more productive. Otherwise no special plans - I live a very quiet, simple life. I like it that way. LOL Happy Saturday - enjoy your day. Darlene J

    1. A quiet simple life sounds perfect to me . It sounds like a busy busy weekend though, Darlene. Aaaw I just love applique. I hope you finished those errands early so you could drive into those projects. Isn't it a bummer when your iron bites the dust? I am keeping my eye out for a new one at the thrift store. Right now mine is still working, but I always need a back up. I hope you have a fabulous weekend , Miss Darlene. Hugs from holler.

  3. So much color, pattern and loveliness. I'm still crocheting -- but really want to start some new stitch projects. It's gotten rather hot outside so not going anywhere today after a busy weekend.

    1. Oh how fun,, Tammy. I cannot wait to see what you have been crocheting. I bought couple of skeins of yarn the other day in hopes to start a potholder which may happen soon. I am not as skilled as you though. Stay cool and enjoy your weekend and thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.

  4. You've got cute project on the go. I especially like the cornerstones on your plus blocks, they add some zing. I'll have to remember that and use it in a crib quilt or a large quilt too. Happy stitching!

  6. You do have a dilemma between out to dinner or playing in the garden - that would be an easy choice for me - lol - the garden would win out! :D
We are sad this weekend because we were unable to travel to attend our grandson's wedding tonight. Hubby's doctor said no, so we had to take our wedding attire back to the department store yesterday, then we treated ourselves to dinner. We are trying to stay cheerful and look forward to many photos of the event. I might even make a little "wedding cake" for us to enjoy in honor of the occasion. :D

    1. Aaaw I am so sorry to hear that, Linda. I know you both were disappointed. I hope that the wedding was videoed too so you could see it along with the photos. At least you both got to go out to dinner and I am sure your grandson knew you were there in spirit. Congratulations to the new couple. I wish them all of the best. A sweet treat to enjoy would be delightful, but I thought you make a pie . Hee ! Hee! I know you like pies like we do. Enjoy your weekend. Hugs.

    1. Oh those rainy spring days. Thankfully , it did not rain here. It was bright and sunny and I think it is supposed to get in the high 80's in the next few days. I hope you were able to spend the day inside and enjoy a lot of stitching time- it was the perfect day for it. Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs.

  8. Love your last post on the your tribute to Amy. The quilt is so lovely and I love your hand quilting (which I am going to attempt soon). Maybe a post about that? What needle & threads do you usually use? Do you mark your quilts or just freestyle. The yellow border on Flaming Butterflies is is wonderful. Anyway thank you for all your sharing. I love red in quilts and your RSC plusses really work. Cheers Melissa - Appreciation, Betty

    1. Aaaw thank you so much, Betty. Your kind compliment really warms my heart. This will be a quilt that I cherish. I hope you do give hand quilting a try. I am self taught and have been quilting for many years. My quilting is not what it used to be, but I still enjoy it. I use just about any kind of thread but prefer cotton quilting thread. I used to use John James . Size 10 was my favorite, but now I cannot see the eye. I use any needle that feels good and gives me pretty stitches. I will have to do a post on hand quilting very soon. Thank you so much for the suggestion. How fun that you are a "red " girl too- not everyone likes red, but it sure makes me a happy gal. I wish you a wonderful weekend and keep me posted on your quilting. Hugs.

    2. Thanks Melissa. I am looking forward to giving it a go. I understand about the eye of the needle. No quilt police and you gotta start somewhere. :)

  11. good morning, good morning, good morning sweet Melisa.
you are an inspiration for me to get back to the sewing machine. i don't know why i have lost interest. i know it will come back. possibly today because your on the plus side blocks are so beautiful. did you ever post the piece sizes in a blog post? i haven't been able to locate it and would love to climb on board printing the size instructions for the blocks. thank you Melisa. you're the best.
it's interesting that a heifer can get pregnant twice in a year. poor mommy. bonding definitely needs to happen between mommy and baby.
do you have a vegetable garden? i bet your veggies are super yummy. our yard is basically granite and we can't plant anything in-ground. all of my tomato plants are in pots, very large pots. the lady at Home Depot guided me that the bigger the pot, the more the roots could grow downward and the tomato plant would be able to produce more tomatoes.
thank you for the beautiful post of all your quilting projects you have going on. i love your fabrics. they are so happy and bright.
have a wonderful, blessed day my friend.
blessings and love are coming your way. a great big hug, too.
