Aunt Fannie's Letters and Keys House- A House Freebie

A new house is in the neighborhood. Welcome, Sweeties. I just wanted to pop in to show you my latest dwelling in Pinkerville.

It is called Aunt Fannie's Letter and Keys House .

Originally, I was going to name it after my Great Aunt Dot who was like a 3rd grandmother to me. Aunt Dot was the postmistress in a small town many years ago.  But since I changed the color of the home ( not pink like Dot Dot would have liked) I renamed it . I think my Great Great Aunt Fannie would approve.

This little house is surrounded by keys with a small alphabet below.

It could be stitched in any choice of colors, but I settled on  13 DMC floss colors which included:  433, 612, 730, 782, 830, 838, 902, 924, 937, 3013,3799, 3830,  3858

Aunt Fannie's Letters and Keys House is stitched on 14 count Aida that I coffee/ tea dyed myself.

If you are interested in stitching this piece,  just grab , the images. For printing tips, refer to the post Tips for Printing which has loads of tips from my sweet friends.

    1. Happy Wednesday, Darlene. I hope you have had a great day. Eeeh- you are a "red" gal too . It is my favorite color! And I cannot resist stitching another red house. LOL . I have had a slow day here today. It was chilly and so I hunkered under the blanket and stitched a bit. I hope I will get to spend time at the sewing machine tomorrow. Love Ewe too, 😀😘❤🐑🤗

    1. Aah thank you so much, Donna. I originally chose the keys for this piece because it reminded me of my great aunt working at the post office . She always had a large ring of keys. As a child , I was fascinated watching her at work, putting the letters in the mail slots and such. Then I changed the colors of the house and chose a date for my Great Great Aunt Fannie. I always try to put something in my house stitches as a nod to my ancestors. Sometimes it brings back fond memories when I do this. Warm hugs and blessings.

  10. Houses and samplers and hearts used to be my favorite things to stitch, but haven't done any in quite some time. In fact, lately, haven't been feeling very crafty at all, but need to pick something to start working on. A whole set of houses in all the colors would make a grand gallery wall.

    1. I think houses and small samplers are my favorite things to stitch too, Tammy. I think you have to be in the mood to stitch or craft though. Sometimes, I am not in the mood either and at times I feel a little guilty about that. A gallery wall of houses would look amazing! Who knows you may decide to pick up the thread and needle tomorrow. Thank you for the sweet visit and have a blessed day. Hugs.

  14. Gr'Aunt Fannie's house is really a pretty one. I really like the sampler and the keys and what I am calling the flowering tree. Would like to hear the reason behind 1916. I looked at the Home Parade to see all the different homes you've created. The color of house I did not see is purple/lavender. Maybe that isn't a color you like and I get that. We all have those colors we lean toward and those we don't. That final picture of the little wooden sheep was so cute!

    1. Aaw thank you so much, Ginny. I am glad to have this little house under my belt and ready for display. I chose 1916 which was the birth year of my great aunt. Usually if I put a year , it is a nod to one of my relatives. The letters and keys reminded me of my Great Aunt Dot. Aunt Fannie would always stay with my Aunt Dot when she would come to visit. Lots of sweet memories. Isn't that sheep the sweetest? That was a gift from a friend. I just adore it. Hugs.

    1. I think the letters are my favorite part of this stitch too. It was a fun one to work on though I struggled at times because I took a long break. Aah the Ole Crow Saltbox is a favorite. I know you will have it done by fall so it can join your fall decor. Thank you for the sweet visit, Diann. Hugs.
