Hello , Sweet peas. The last I left off on my traveling tales, we had weathered a tornado and a hailstorm, but we were moving eastward. We passed by farm after farm. It was hay season in Oklahoma. I knew the same thing was going on back home as well.
Our next stop was the Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge.
It was time to dig some crystals.
We explored sites where others had dug and also dug holes of our own.
We picked up a number of crystals for the grandsons. They enjoy rocks and crystals so they will be quite happy.
We are homeward bound. Soon I will fully finish my sampler.
As Always,
Happy Stitching and Quilting, y'all
Melisa
Thank you for the sweet visit.

I bet it was fun to dig some crystals. I'd never heard of that place and digging. The little sampler is adorable. Happy trails my friend - take good care. DarleneJ
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful trip you and Mr Pinker have had. So many amazing things you saw and did. I love the new mini sampler.
ReplyDeleteI can see why those boys will love their crystals you are bringing home for them. You have had another amazing trip. Mr. Pinker and you know all the good spots! But no matter, it will feel so good to be home. ❤️
ReplyDeleteYour mini sampler finish is darling, Melisa. I know the boys will love their crystals. Safe travels!
ReplyDeleteEven though I grew up in and have lived in towns in Oklahoma, I've never been to Salt Plains. We even lived fairly close - in Oklahoma City - and never went there, but that whole area is on our bucket list to travel, especially Gloss Mountain. Now we will include Salt Plains!
ReplyDeleteLove your new sampler - so "springy". How neat about the crystals. Never knew there was a place like this - you always find the neatest spots! Blessings and safe trip home.
ReplyDeleteYou amaze me that you keep thinking up new xstitch designs! You are so generous Melisa. I haven't heard of Salt Plains before I will have to look it up.

ReplyDeleteAre the crystals salt, too? Did you taste it? I'd have been tempted. Love the smell when they are haying. Haha was that an official rest area that you saw the privy? The colors in your sampler are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI've not been there, but My Guy and Grad Girl went when she was in school. Safe travels as you make your way home.
ReplyDeleteYour adventure is winding down but you've made so many wonderful memories! I love your mini sampler (nwpaintedlady)
