A Dime?! And a Strawberry Freebie

"Mother" is such a simple word,

But to me there's meaning seldom heard.

For everything I am today,

My mother's love showed me the way. - Karl Fuchs

Hello, Sweet friends and a sunny Sunday to you! I would also like to wish all of the dear mothers a very Happy Mother's Day.

Today the family will be gathering at my mom's where all of the mothers will be celebrated with some good home cooking and lots of love.

I bought this darling cross stitch at the thrift store . Isn't it  so soft and delicate?

Another thrift store find is this small stitch. Do you know what it is called and who the designer is?

Now hold on to your bloomers! You are going to fall off your chair when I tell you how much I paid for it! A dime! Can you believe it a whole dime?! It makes me sad for the stitcher , but I was happy for me. One of my favorite thrift stores has a dime table, you never know what you will find in the bin table.

August bouquet  is in the works in  Jeannette Douglas Mini Bouquet Sampler.

Last week's stopping point- May 5th.

Not a lot of progress, but the vines are beings stitched.

Progress as of May 11, 2024

A stack of little quilts draped over shutters in the foyer.

Today's Slow Stitching project is Rainbow Sherbet. It  has been awhile since I have worked on it.  Doesn't it make you crave some sherbet ?Lol.

I bought this quilt top a few years ago at the World's Largest yard Sale.

Did you see my Itty Bitty Bee Pinkeep that I shared on Friday?  I hope to work on another one this week.

Can I interest you in some Farm Fresh Berries? This is my newest strawberry stamp.  It reminds me of all of the strawberry signs that I painted. That was one of my tasks on  the farm.

If you are interested in stitching this piece,  just grab , the images. For printing tips, refer to the post Tips for Printing which has loads of tips from my sweet friends.

  4. Happy Mother's day Melisa! Will your get-together be a potluck? I hope you have a wonderful day.
I have a similar thrift store find. It said Home Is Where The Heart Is, but I changed Heart to Quilt, and it hangs in my sewing room. I feel sorry for the makers of these discarded pieces too, but I bet they would be happy to know they found loving homes.

    1. Aaah thank you so much. We ended up getting barbecue with slaw and potato salad from a local restaurant. It was yummy! I think I may have that stitch , Linda. Does your stitch have a row of houses with some quilt blocks on it? How clever to change the words- that would be perfect especially for the sewing room. Have a great week. Hugs.

  6. Happy Mother's Day Melisa! Hope you have a great day with family. I lost my Mom at a young age 35 years ago. I wasn't going to start the strawberry stamps yet because I have so many projects but couldn't resist. I finished the shortcake and berries. Now I need to finish them into pillows. They worked up fast. I plan to do them all and put them in a berry bowl in my strawberry display. Thank you for the designs. Have a great week and a great time camping.

  15. I have finally been able to catch up with all of your posts. I am so happy for you as you have been a busy girl and doing so many wonderful things. Your readership has really taken off, it takes me almost as long to read those as to go through your Hutch posts. I am a nosy person and have to read and look at everything!! Two great camping trips this year already, so jealous but happy for you. You have a great supportive hubby for sure. Sorry about your computer, I have had the same problem. Sending you much love and warm hugs from sunny Arizona. A very wonderful and Happy Mother's Day to you.

  17. Happy Mother's Day, Melisa! So much to see today! First off, that sleepy eyed little smile seems to me to be saying "Yeh, I know I'm a handsome devil!" Which little stitch was a dime? The tiny house or the welcome? Either is simply amazing! I would love to see the little house a little closer. It looks sort of like a FPP piece I did a few years ago, although I can clearly see it's stitched. You find the best things! The LeMoyne Star is a true scrappy jewel. These kinds of vintage quilts are just the best! Thank you so much for another sweet berry stamp. I counted and I have 5 so far. You are so generous to us! The Asiatic Lilies are gorgeous. Are they from your gardens?

    1. We had a wonderful Mother's Day. I hope you did too, Ginny. Oh yes, Elmer knows he is handsome; he is very lovable too. He just loves to be petted on. LOL. The little "Welcome to our Home " stitch was a dime. I couldn't believe it. The other day I found old ironstone saucers 2 for a dime- what a steal. Oh yes those lilies are from my garden. They are looking mighty nice this year. Thank you for the sweet Sunday visit. Hugs.
