Springtime on the Farm

Good morning, y'all and Happy Happy Friday!  Hmmm  a Not so Wordless Wednesday post on a Friday- aaaah why not!  ๐Ÿ˜€ I missed my Wordless Wednesday post this week so I thought I would share a few farm photos today. I hope they bring a smile to your day as you start the weekend.

Farm equipment in the garden.

Fence rows filled with blackberries in bloom.

The stare down from Edna! Lol

Edna being a silly gal! Isn't she adorable?

Ginger is grazing. She is such a sweet gal.

We have new babies on the farm. Time for a nap for this little one.

Mama is on high alert.

Do you see the babies in the tall grass behind Edna?

I have  a little progress on Little House Needlework's "Farm Life" .
Progress as of May 10, 2024

Most of my progress was made while riding back home from the campground. It was a long ride. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿš™๐Ÿš™๐Ÿš™

Have a beautiful day, Sweeties!
As Always...

Happy quilting and stitching, y'all

  1. Wordless Wednesday or Wordless Friday - doesn't really matter, does it. All the days of the week end in Y so any day works for me. LOL My grandparents were cattle ranchers in south Texas. When my daughter was very young, we'd ride through the mesquite and look for cows. My grandmother named all the cows, but the dogs were the black dog, the white dog, etc. So silly but I miss those days!
    Happy Fri-Yay Melisa!

    1. Aaah what a sweet memory, Darlene . I had to chuckle about dogs and cats names. How funny! Your grandma must have had a love for the cows- I have to admit I do too. LOL. I bet your grandma was a hoot! I can imagine the warm memories that you and your daughter created with your grandparents on the ranch. I bet y'all stayed very busy. I often find myself dreaming of simpler times with the family too especially with my grandparents. Have a Fantabulous Friday! Hugs

  2. I'm impressed you can cross stitch while riding in a vehicle. I'm not able to do that so I just knit dishcloths until I get sleepy then nap. Happy stitching!

    1. My hubby said the same thing. He said it would make him dizzy . Knitting is a great riding activity, but like you I often find myself wanting to catch a few zzzz' s when riding. Lol. Happy quilting. Hugs.

  3. I'm with Gretchen - I used to be able to cross stitch while dh drove but not anymore. Love your Farm Life. Trying to get the gumption to start my big sampler. Are you doing anything for Memorial Day? We're just chillin' at the RV after seeing family. Have a great weekend!

    1. Eeeh a big sampler! I say go for it! Lol. I often find myself debating when it comes to big ones as well. I have 2 that I want to start , but have yet to do so. What sampler are you thinking of starting? Chillin' in the RV sounds divine to me. I sure wish hubby and I were on the road again- perhaps soon. We finally have the pool clean so the youngins will enjoy the pool as we cook out with the family. Hopefully, the weather will remain nice. Have a fabulous Memorial Day weekend, Donna. Hugs.

  5. I love your farm photos! Put as many as you like, I enjoy them so much. Edna looks like a hoot. I've never seen blackberry bushes that big - do you pick them and make blackberry cobbler? Looks like you have a good attendance of butterflies on your farm. Love the cows, they look like sweeties!

    1. Happy Friday, Linda. Oh yes, Edna is a hoot! Lol. I always enjoy when she comes to greet me. We used to have blackberry bushes that were humongous. I could stand underneath them as they draped over the fence line. We love cobblers; we always enjoy several throughout the summer and sometimes we make jam. Thank you for the sweet Friday visit. Hugs.

  10. So much to see today. Those white Iris are gorgeous! I have never seen my son's blackberries bloom like yours are doing. Wow! All the critters are looking very happy. I can picture the babies scampering around the pasture. Edna's funny ears made me smile. You're making good headway on the Farm Life stitch. That is going to be a lovely piece when you're done. Thistles and butterflies - I guess they go together. I've never let them grow like this. They're really very pretty.

    1. Happy Saturday, Ginny. The irises did great this year; it is always a joy to see them in bloom ; they remind me of my Nanny who loved them. The farm is a buzz with activity with new calves being born. Hubby has left the thistle in a small patch of the lot for the bees, butterflies and finches. Soon it will all be mowed down ; it can take over. It was amazing to see all of the butterflies enjoying the thistle the other day. I hope you have a great day and thank you. Hugs.
