Here A Chick

Here a chick ! There a chick! Everywhere a chick, chick!
Happy Happy Friday y'all. It is another beautiful day and today I am working on chickens. Now tell me can one have too  many chickens?  I think not!

I finished appliqueing my wonky hens and baskets in the Spring while I was in camping in  Mississippi and Texas. They are appliqued on a buttercream  cotton.

Lots of 2 1/2" squares are cut and ready to be pieced.

I will be making  6 1/2" ( unfinished) nine patches to accompany these blocks.

Right now I have 24 hens and baskets. I am not sure where this is going - I guess you could say I am playing in the hen house right now.

My Here A Chick blocks are stored in this Dollar Tree container that I found in the kitchen  section.
I drew out a little chicken label to remind me what is stored in the box. Perhaps the chicken on the label will be a future quilt-  maybe.

Oh gosh lookie there! , How did Edna get into this post?

"Edna, this post is about chickens!" I think I heard her neigh that she would like a quilt about her- she is such a diva! "We shall see, Edna!  We shall  see."
Isn't she a doll?  It is hard for me to resist that face!

Well I am off and running ! Have a sun shiny day and ...

As Always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, ya'll

Life is better with chickens!

  5. Love the sunny background you picked for the chickens. That's going to be a such a cute quilt. I actually have a donkey quilt, it's one that my grandmother emboridered the donkey blocks and set it together with red, white and blue. She called it her Democrat quilt.

    1. It was a great trip for stitching and quilting. I have to admit that I was surprised by how much I completed. I have already started to plan what I will take on my next camping trip, but as the weather warms, I am doubtful I will get as much done. Lol. Have a great weekend, Linda. Hugs and thank you.

  15. Such sweet little chicks! You're right! Your chicken label looks to be a good pattern as well. Nine patches are the perfect alternate block with them. This is going to be so pretty! That soft butter cream yellow is the same color as my bedroom, only the paint was named sunshine. Edna is the perfect model for an adorable donkey block! Hmmm...Something to think about, huh?

  17. I love chickens and I especially love yours! Edna is darling...she is a mule right? A cross between a horse and a donkey? They are supposed to be very sure footed and I've heard some say they are more comfortable to ride. Happy Quilting!!!

    1. I am a chicken lover as well. I miss having chickens here but too many critters running around in the holler. I think Edna is a donkey; I'll have to ask hubby. She is not very tall, but is as cute as can be. The grandkids have rode the other donkey who is more gentle; his name is Elmer and loves to be petted.  Thank you again for making my day brighter. Hugs.
