A Monday Finish!

It's finished! It's finished! Yipee!  I have a finish!
Good morning, Sweet Peas . Is it Monday already? Where did the weekend go ?   It just flew by for me. How about you ?
🧵
Darlene's Quilt is finished.  I fell in love with this design last year when I saw my dear friend, Darlene's mini quilt. I just had to have one of my own.  For months , I worked on my blocks as a leader and ender project.  My blocks measured 8 1/2" unfinished  - 8" finished.

In March and April of this year, Mr. Pinker and I went on a month long camping trip and Darlene's quilt accompanied me. Most of the quilting was completed while camping in Texas.

The body of the quilt finished at Whitney, TX.

I hand quilted small pinwheels in each block.

I quilted the borders when I got home using a hand drawn cable design.

A pretty pink fabric found at a Texas Goodwill was used for the binding
I used a cotton sheet for the backing.

I am over the moon with how the quilting looks. It really pops doesn't it?

There were 30 blocks in this quilt .

Darlene's Quilt measures 48" x 56" .

The green top/bottom borders measured 4 1/2" x 40 1/2"unfinished.
The  green left/ right borders measure 4 1/2" x 48 1/2" unfinished.
The corner squares measure 4 1/2" unfinished.

Would you like to  make a block ? I must warn you - they are addictive!

FOR ONE BLOCK

FROM DARK FABRIC  - CUT-  1    2  1/2" x 9 1/2"  strip

FROM LIGHT FABRIC  - CUT-  1    2  1/2" x 9 1/2"  strip

DIRECTIONS: Use 1/4" seam allowance.

🧵1. Take the 2 strips of fabric. Place right sides together and sew down the length of the strip. Press toward dark.

Sew the 2 strips together.

🧵2. Subcut the strips which you just sewed into 4 1/2" blocks.

Strip subcut into 4 sections measuring  4 1/2" squared.

🧵3.  Arrange the units into the pinwheel design .

Lay out blocks into a Pinwheel design.

🧵4. Sew the squares together.  Press!

EASY PEASY!

Thank you, Darlene, for the sweet inspiration, encouragement,  and friendship.

Now let's sit back on Darlene's Quilt and enjoy this warm sunny day ! It is a perfect day for a picnic! Don't you think?

Have a beautiful day!

As Always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, ya'll

  13. Melisa, such a pretty and inviting quilt Great job, easy blocks can make an amazing quilt. I have a big stash and need to get it to become something useful and comfy. Now on to my crossing stitching, that doesn't seem to get smaller either. Just too many sweet patterns that I have to try out and collect. Have a great day. Sending many warm hugs from sunny Arizona, weather has been so pleasant, now onto the beginning of summer, lol!!
