Good morning , dear friends. Oh yes, I do feel like the tardy white rabbit in Alice in Wonderland . Why? Well, I do not have Block 7 finished. Oh , dear , please don't scream "OFF WITH HER HEAD!" like the Queen of Hearts Lol.
I haven't been piddling around or painting the roses red; I have been working on it off and on. I do have a bit of progress .
Of course, I have the doodle complete, and it is all ready for you, my friends.
You know what I am going to be doing today- finishing my block and then onward I will go to block #8. I so appreciate the kind visit , sweeties as always...

Welcome, my dear friends. The other day I was sitting on the porch stitching my heart away listening to the songs and chatter of the birds below me.
I looked over the edge of the porch and counted 20 birds fluttering around 2 feeders. There were doves, chickadees and lots of cardinals.
As I sat on the porch, a doe walked around the corner of the house - not 15 feet from me. She sauntered down to the garage to see what Mr. Pinker was doing. As she slowly made her way, I sleeked back into the house for my camera and as I sleeked back out , BUMMER ! Mr. Pinker came out of the garage and Mrs. Doe went back up the hill . No deer photo today. So I resumed listening to the chatter of the birds.
I also worked on a new stitch- another stamp stitch . This one is simply called Spring Stamp.
This little stamp has a little Eastern Bluebird pulling a wagon of blooms.
Now this little bluebird could easily be changed to a robin.
I stitched this little stamp on 14 count aida and since it only measures 35 x35 that brought it to a mere 2 1/2" squares.
In fact, I stitched it in just a couple of hours.

I do have more stamps in my future. My mind is whirling with ideas.
Since it is a warm sun shiny day, I think I will plop myself on the porch , pull off my shoes so my toes can bask in the sun and stitch . I am going to take my camera out too and keep an eagle eye out for Mrs. Doe. Her and the other ladies come into the yard quite often to visit.

As the days get warmer, my heart begins to sing. Do you have the same feeling?
I have been in the crafty mood. Over the weekend, I found the cutest carrots popping up on the internet, and I had to jump on the bandwagon.
They are clothespin carrots. All you need is clothespins, hot glue, orange paint , paintbrush and twine , yarn or whatever you want to use for the carrot tops. If you google clothespin carrots, you will find different versions whether the crafter uses 1, 2 or 3 clothespins. I chose to use 3 for a chunkier carrot.
Let me show you what I did. I gathered 3 clothespins and took off the metal holders .
I then painted the clothespins . I used Apple Barrel Pumpkin paint from Walmart ; it was the only orange I had in the house.
Then glue the segments together in pairs.
Next glue 2 clothespins side by side and one on top.
Other crafters used a variety of things for the greens, like twine, fabric, and floral sprigs.
I had some yarn. I cut a green piece of yarn the length of my arm and wrapped it around 4 fingers to make loops. I then glued the yarn to the top of the carrot.
I took another green yarn and wrapped around the top for a more finished look and added a twine bow. I think they turned out pretty darn cute if I say so myself.
On a "carrot high" , I bunny hopped to the quilt nest in hopes of making a small carrot quilt.
Eyeing some crumb fabrics that I had originally pieced for a snowman quilt, I decided to trim it and use for a background fabric. Look at all those fabrics sewn willy nilly.
I added a 2 1/2" border and Wahlah , it was ready for applique.
I drew a simple carrot shape and appliqued it in two shakes of a lamb's tale.
Now all I have to do is some embroidery work which I hope to work on today.
Since this is a carrot post, I thought I would leave you with a carrot recipe.
CARROT CAKE COOKIES
YIELD : 2 1/2 dozen
BAKE TIME: 25 minutes
INGREDIENTS:
* 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
*1/2 cup granulated sugar
* 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
* 1 large egg
* 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, divided
* 2 cups all purpose flour
* 1 teaspoon baking powder
*1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1 1/2 cups shredded carrots ( about 3 medium carrots)
* 3/4 cup chopped toasted walnuts
* 1 1/2 cup of powdered sugar
* 3 Tablespoons of milk
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 375°F with rack positioned in upper third of oven. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar with a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment on medium speed until light and fluffy, 3 to 4 minutes. Add egg and 1 teaspoon of the vanilla; beat on medium until combined, about 30 seconds.
Whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl. Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture, beating on low speed until just combined after each addition, about 20 seconds (dough will be slightly crumbly). Fold in carrots and walnuts until combined.
Scoop dough by heaping tablespoonfuls onto prepared baking sheet, placing cookies 2 inches apart. Bake cookies in batches in preheated oven until bottoms of cookies are golden brown, 12 to 14 minutes. Remove from oven; let cool on baking sheet 5 minutes. Transfer cookies to a wire rack, and let cool completely, about 20 minutes.
Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and remaining 1/2 teaspoon vanilla in a small bowl. Drizzle glaze over cooled cookies, and serve.
4. Post a Spring cross stitch.
5. Get into some crafting/ quilting mischief.

I had to include some Easter eggs too.
So today I will be working on quilting this little quilt . It is made from leftover 2 1/2" strips.
The 2nd embroidery block dedicated to my baby sister is finished.
I am working on the 3rd block, but this is indeed a slow stitch. I work on it a little at a time. 👼😇💗
This week I hope to finish this little stitch and begin a new one.
It is supposed to get in the high 60's today. That means a great day for some slow stitching on the patio.

Good afternoon, ya'll and Happy Saturday. How has your weekend been thus far? I hope good.
Mr. Pinker is off on a fishing tournament but is due back later this evening. That has given me plenty of time to piddle around the house pulling out Easter decor and such .
I even popped into the quilt nest. Not anything fabulous in the works, but I did piece the beginning of a little quilt.
Applique will happen next.
My leader and ender project is flag blocks.
One of my new starts last week was Stacy Nash Primitives "Symbol of My Heart Schoolgirl Sampler" a sweet gift from my dear friend, Patricia. I used DMC 898.
This was such a relaxing , peaceful stitch. I have it completed now, but am looking for the perfect fabric to pair it with. I was thinking of making it into a little quilt.
Well that is my going ons for the day. The rest of the evening , I plan to enjoy some porch stitching while watching the doves and cardinals fight over the birdfeeders.
