Crows in the Pumpkin Patch - A House Freebie

"October is the month
When the smallest breeze,
Gives us a shower of autumn leaves.
Bonfires and pumpkins
Leaves sailing down
October is red
and golden brown."

With Thy Needle and Thread's October Word Play

Happy October , dear friends.

Are you ready for a fabulous but busy month?  I sure am! This is going to be a month of spending time with the family, pumpkin patches, bonfires,  ball games and of course autumn camping trips.  Do you have anything special in store for the month ? Or are you just going to wing it and see what the month allows ?

How about we start the month with a stitch? This house is called  Crows in the Pumpkin Patch.

-A  sweet little saltbox nestled among the pumpkin patch. There is only one problem - Caw ! Caw! Caw!  Do you hear that?  Yep, the pumpkin patch has  a flock of cranky but cute crows in it.

But that is ok. Many of y'all know that "crows" rank in my top 10  favorite birds.   LOL  So I am good with having a house surrounded by loud unruly birds.

  I   stitched Crows in the Pumpkin Patch on 14 count coffee/ tea dyed aida using 14 DMC floss colors which included:  DMC 301, 524, 632, 730, 783, 829, 830, 842, 838, 975, 3371, 3776, 3857, 3863.

BE LIKE A CROW
Collect shiny things
Hop happily down the street
For no apparent reason , scream loudly when you see your friends.

🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵

If you are interested in stitching this piece,  just grab , the images. For printing tips, refer to the post Tips for Printing which has loads of tips from my sweet friends.

My autumn neighborhood is slowly growing.

Have you started decorating for Halloween?

Black cats, ghosts, witches and jacks are slowly creeping down my attic steps. I will be hustling and bustling about rounding them into place today.  If you are in the neighborhood , just stop in . I can always use a helping hand to wrangle these ghastly creatures. Hee! Hee!

Thank you for taking the time to drop in for a visit, Sweeties. I will be working on October's Heart Doodle today and I will post it very soon.

Love ya' to pieces and...

As always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Melisa

Happy October ! May your month be golden and be filled with many blessings.

Hugs and Stitches!!!!🤗🧵❤

Dedicated to my dear baby sister, Amy who loved decorating for Halloween each year. . I love and miss you so much, Amo. ❤❤❤

Last night I started a new house stitch. Right now it is called Letters and Keys Home, but that is subject change. A few motifs may be removed too.      Next to my stitch is Lizzy's Prim Pin Keep  and Bee Balm

  1. Boo! This is the month where the witches come out. Thanks for the new pattern. I will stitch it very soon and put it in my Halloween basket. Yes I love the month of October, cause it it my sons' birthday month and the fall deco is colorful. HW is not so popular anymore here in Germany but I grew up with it and I love it.
Your new pics look so lovely, I am sure you have a lot of fun too.
    Have a happy day,

  4. Melisa, I love your Crows in The Pumpkin Patch, it’s so stinkin cute. It’s time to switch my Fall Pinker house pillows out with my pinker Halloween ones. I’m printing this one up to get started. I have to go to the shed and get my Halloween goodies to set up my porch. My apartment isn’t big enough to decorate inside so it’s outside I go. I’ll be taking down fall today and hopefully get started tomorrow on Halloween. You made a great start to my day when I saw your cute scarecrow. He made me smile. Thanks for the new chart, hope you have a great stitchy day my friend. 🤗💜🖤💜

  5. I like your new stitch - it goes in my to do list! Thank you so much for your generosity!
October is when we start to wind down our traveling mode. Dh has a golfing week with his brothers while I try to finish my son's quilt in honor of his upcoming wedding to one sweetheart of a gal. I'm also trying to finish a wedding sampler for them (think Princess Bride - Mawage...Mawage). I'm getting packets together for a cross stitch craft day for our fall RV rally. Then we'll be staying with one of my daughters for a couple of weeks - RV hookup at her place. So, we really are winding down even though it doesn't seem like it. ;-)
Have a terrific day and thank you again for so many wonderful patterns! Blessings!

A wedding sampler will be such a treasure. It will be so nice to be able to enjoy your time at your daughter's for a few weeks especially as you have all of these things going on. Hugs and Blessings.

  10. The newest cross stitch is lovely, as always! Hopefully next week I'll be driving to Ohio to spend a couple days with my newly widowed sister. She has a quilt in the frame that she wants to finish. She just hasn't had much quilting time since she was nursing her husband. Between the two of us, we'll should get most of it quilted.

I love that "Be Like a Crow" saying--your house collection is so lovely--I will start to do a small bit of decorating for October today...We used to have bittersweet growing all over our side wood but unfortunately that darn old Kudzu has taken over!! I would cut bits every year to decorate...perhaps a couple yellow-leaved ash branches this year instead...

  21. October is my birthday month along with my granddaughter’s. Love this time of year because I feel that God blessed me to be born in this month, to appreciate how the trees are at their most colorful on my birth day, the 15th. I also celebrate the entire month, so yes, I’m doing something special for myself each day. It took me a long time to realize that celebrating “myself “ is ok, with no apologies! PS. My AUTUMN Sampler, made from your designs, like the one above in your photo, is hanging in my dining room! Love it!
