It has been a spell since I have participated in Joy's Tablescrap Challenge at The Joyful Quilter, but as soon as I saw her theme , I decided to jump in with both feet with a wee mug rug.
Of course, I used the "dark" colors " as Angela has suggested for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge for the month of September. This was an easy peasy quilt to piece using leftover strips as I pieced my autumn 16 patch.
I mostly worked with 2" strips for the mug rug.

The backing is a print by Cranston that I bought this summer on the World's Longest Yard Sale for pennies.
More 16 patches have been constructed. More on this quilt in progress in a future post.

DeleteI've never embraced fall colors although they were popular way back when. I remember using fall colors when I learned to crochet. This year I've enjoyed seeing it. Our likes and dislikes are so fickle. LOL Your 16 patch blocks are wonderful. Can't wait to see the whole thing. Enjoy your Sunday - big hugs to you and yours. Darlene J
ReplyDeleteI was the same way, Darlene especially the colors brown, black and gray. But here of late, I have grown quite fond of brown and I want to build up my stash. I have found that I do not have a lot of purples though. Yes our tastes change. Thank you for dropping by . Big hugs from the holler.

ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Barbara. I have to admit that a lot of these fabrics came from yard sales and thrift stores at great thrifty prices. As I am getting older ,I am learning to push myself out of the comfort zone and use different fabrics. I had a great time piecing this quick mug rug up. Hugs and Blessings.

DeleteNo raking going on here. However, the leaves have started to turn ever so slightly. I miss the vibrant fall colors we used to get here in Massachusetts. Now the leaves frequently from green to brown bypassing the glorious yellows, oranges and reds. However, your work this week transports me to the colors of my youth.

DeleteYour little mug rug is a perfect little bit of Autumn with it's wonderful leaf fabric. Love the scrappy leaf blocks. I think I have a piece of that fabric, too. I noticed you signed your initials to the poem. Another creative talent you have in your pocket. Gees, Girl! You are a wonder! The 16 patch blocks are looking great. Plus, you've been working on new stitches, too? What a generous heart you have.

DeleteYour leaf blocks are very pretty. You have such pretty browns in your projects. I have a hard time finding anything but dull browns. I must be shopping in the wrong places!
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Kate. I do not have that many browns in my stash, but I am slowly starting to build up the browns. I always have steered clear of brown in quilting until recently and now I am quite fond of it. I have trouble finding the right browns too though. LOL. Hugs.
