Four Patch Fun Wednesday

Rise and Shine, Sunshine! Another beautiful day is calling your name!

Do you have any grand plans on the agenda today? I would say that it is a perfect day for you to do something special . Wouldn't you?  ❤  Me? Hmmm- Well , I am going to go visit my family and then I am going to hunker down to my sewing machine.

Monday was just too darn cold for me to venture out so I worked on more of Bonnie Hunter's 2025 Leader/ Ender project called Four Patch Fun

I am piecing my blocks using 2 1/2" units. (unfinished)

You would be so  proud of me . I only screamed "Oh fudge! " once, (yep, I have been watching The Christmas Story)  that is when I had to pull out the GDR aka "Gosh Darn Ripper" . I had placed my four patches in the wrong arrangement in the red block but I soon wrangled those squares in place, and then I was whistling "Zippety Dooh Dah" !  I do need to clean the loose threads from the block though.

This Four Patch Fun block had to be taken apart, but here it is all fixed. Wheww!

So far I have 11 blocks pieced . More fabric strips are cut for piecing.

Later this evening, I will work on the November  Mini Sampler from  From the Heart Needleart, a darling gift from dear Donna. Thank you , Donna. ๐Ÿค—

And hopefully by tonight's  end I will finish a new house cross stitch which will be making its way to a post very soon.

A few of my tins .

Well those are my grand plans. We shall see if they come to fruition. My fingers and toes are crossed. Hee! Hee!

May your day be filled with loads of fun and Stitchy plans.

 As Always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting,

 y'all

  1. Good morning! What a great idea for a leader ender project. What size will it be? I hadn't seen her four patch fun before - will have to check it out. Chilly here too - not happy with these temps :-(. Have a great day! Blessings!

    1. Happy Wednesday, Donna. I do hope that warmer weather will be heading your way soon. I am not ready for winter. I haven't decided how many blocks I am going to make, but I sure am having lots of fun making the blocks so I will probably go for at least a full sized quilt. These blocks piece up quickly. I bet you would enjoy it. Stay warm and cozy . Hugs.

  2. I really like those four patches. Have fun hunkering down! We have a fireman coming to install permanent holiday lights on the front of our house today. He says he only works for tips, so we will be giving him a generous one. ;)

    1. Oh how wonderful. I have not heard of permanent holiday lights. As soon as I read this, I had to look them up. My daughter would love this. Your fireman must really enjoy the holiday season. I hope you enjoy them and let me know how they look. Warm hugs.

    1. Gosh, minestrone soup sounds amazing. It has been a spell since I have had that. Warm soup certainly will hit the spot on a gloomy day. I hope you enjoyed it. I had a good day piecing away. Hubby and I enjoyed a late egg sandwich supper- quite tasty. Warm hugs.

  7. Your 4-patch blocks look awesome, Melisa. I have some laundry to do, some notes to write and some bills to pay before I can play with needle and thread.

  9. Those four patches are not "fun" when you have to rip them apart due to a mistake, lol! But yours are so cute, Melisa. I Spy some candy canes! And dog bones! These are going to make such a sweet quilt. I'm still quilting on my Starburst quilt - hubby is gone all day, so I hope to get a lot done!

    1. LOL you are so right, Diann. I have to bite my tongue when the ripper comes out. LOL. Oh yes, I am trying to squeeze in some of those novelty fabrics in these blocks. I hope you had a great time working on your Starburst. You are moving right along on it. It is gorgeous. Happy quilting. Hugs.

  10. Howdy Ho, Ho, Miz Melisa! Happy Wednesday to you!! Well, it's been officially confirmed - you're an octopus! Yep, that's why you're able to get so much accomplished. Don't even try to deny it - nope, don't do it. LOL actually I'm ROFLOL. I can entertain myself so easily. Bonnie Hunter's Four Patch Fun is delightful. It was on my list, but I have very little desire to make large quilts anymore. It's all about the little quilts - they make me so happy. The November Mini Sampler is adorable and I'm anxious to see the new house. Here's your new mantra "must stitch faster". It's my mantra but these old eyes just don't cooperate as they should. Ugh! I'd been searching for a little tidbit to stitch monthly in 2026 and just couldn't settle on something until yesterday. I tripped across something small that I believe I will enjoy. Stay tuned.
OK I'm off to take care of business. Have a wonderful day and try to behave. It's overrated but try anyway. One of us should. LOL Big, Bigger, Biggest Hugs, DarleneJ

    1. LOL An octopus! Hee! Hee! A new nickname! Oh how I do wish I had lots of hands stitching and sewing and juggling all those chores. Wouldn't it be delightful? But I must say you are my fellow octopus too. Hee! Hee! Because you always have a lot going on as well. Oh how fun to find a new project for 2026 . Please do keep me posted. Can you believe it is almost mid November? 2026 will be here in no time. Now I can make no promises on behaving. Hee! Hee! What is it Mae West said? " The best way to behave is to misbehave. " LOL Now you don't get into any mischief either. Big Bear Hugs

  11. You are moving right along on Four Patch Fun. I am truly using it as a leader/ender and do not have as many blocks completed as you. 'Cuz, you know, I've been binding like a crazy woman. I'm looking forward to getting home and back to the sewing machine.

    1. Oh thank you so much, Jeanna. I was able to get quite a few blocks made while piecing my Peppermint Pinwheels. Since I had my 2 1/2" inch ruler out , I was able to go to town on cutting them. I cannot wait to see your blocks in the near future. You go girl on your binding! Will you have a finish to show on Friday? I cannot wait to see it. Warm hugs.

  13. Those 4patch Fun blocks are looking really good. I like the red and blue colorway you are going with. We have some of the same tins. How 'bout that?! Jack (the ripper) and I have a love/hate relationship. Glad he's around sometimes but never want to feel I NEED him. Haha That is an interesting little weaving tool. I've never seen one of those. The little squirrel sampler is so cute. Can't wait to see the latest house stitch.

    1. Oh thank you so much, dear Ginny. These little blocks are super fun to work on. Gosh, I do hate using the ole' ripper. Thank goodness it was just one block though. Well how fun that we have matching tins. I like searching for new ones in the thrift stores. I remember the good ole' days when they were just a quarter. LOL Now that was some time ago. Have a great evening. Hugs.

    1. Good evening, dear Christina. I miss you as well and think about you often. I hope you and the family are doing well. I bet you will be so very busy especially with the grandchildren as the holidays approach. I keep meaning to get back on IG. I just wish I did not have so many tech troubles with it. I have heard that others have faced some of the same issues. Maybe I should try posting again here soon. I have had trouble sending and receiving comments so I am never sure if my posts go through. Thank you for bringing a smile to my day. Warm hugs.
