One Tree Up and More To Go

Good Monday morning, Sunshine! I hope the 1st Monday of November is treating you well. We had a rainy day yesterday. It drizzled off and on all day long.

As Mr. Pinker worked away smoking his venison jerky in the smokers, I made my way down to the garage in search for something to put my Christmas tree in . Last year I decorated the living room tree in the gingerbread theme and nestled it into a little wooden wagon that I had purchase nigh 20 years ago but never used .

Hmmm what to do this year. Well it did not take me long to locate this rusty, crusty old trunk.

Time to clean this old trunk.

I know. I know . Some of you are saying "Uggh ! Eeek ! That looks pretty crusty. Are you going to use that? "  LOL But that is why I love it! The rustier and crustier the better. It gives it character in my eyes. I bought this little treasure probably 23 years ago for just a couple of dollars at an auction. A great barn find!  Besides I think I can spiffy it up with a little elbow grease.

As I pulled the trunk out of the depths of the back of the garage, Mr. Pinker quickly moved away from his smoker and carried it to the patio. I soon began to scrub this trunk to the bone.

Decorations from my 2024 gingerbread themed tree

After a good scrubbing, I moved the trunk inside before the rain set in again.

 💡So here is my idea.💡

I am thinking of decorating my tree in the "Candy theme" . I will put a small 6 1/2 " foot tree in the  old wooden trunk and fill  the trunk with vintage toys. Well that's my vision. We will see if I can pull it off without a hitch.

🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

"RING! RING! RING!"  - went the phone.

"Are you coming over to decorate my tree? " asked my daughter.

"Be there in a minute , " I replied and in 2 shakes of a lamb's tail I was at my daughter's home which is a hop , skip and a jump away from the ole' homestead.

She had her tree up and all of the ornaments laid out for me to decorate. Her theme was "Santa". She just used the ornaments she had from last year.

I think it turned out pretty darn cute if I do say so.

Have you decided how you are going to decorate your tree this year?  I am curious . Do you put up more than one tree?

I finished quilting Pear Butter which I shared the measurements of a few weeks ago. I have made this little quilt before in different colors.  I do think I need a Christmas version . Don't you?

Pear Butter is all quilted and ready for display.

Last night I watched The Christmas List, a 1997 movie with Mimi Rogers which I found on Youtube and then The Most Wonderful Time of the Year with Henry Winkler, a 2008 movie. Thanks, Gail for the recommendation. It was a great movie. Hmmm not sure what I will watch tonight.

As I watched my nimble fingers stitched away  on the darling Blackbird Designs "Bird in Hand" a sweet gift from dear Sonja. Thank you Sonja.🤗 It warms my heart every time I work on it.

Well Sweeties, it is time for me to get off here. Today is Wally World day which means picking up groceries.  Then I am going to tackle my tree. Have a very Merry Monday!

As Always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting,

 y'all

  1. Hello, hello. Puuuh after our Halloween Party I need a little rest. It was fun and everything is removed. Do some housework before I take out the tree. Yours look great. I don't have a theme, I put on my old red and gold glasballs and my stitched ornies. The only thing I do is that I buy one new thing every year. Your stitchery looks cute. I love the old trunk. It's a great idea to take it. Wait for the pics.
Yesterday they started with the Xmas movies on TV and I watched the first one. Christmas time is not far away.
    Have a happy day,
    Gabi

  2. It looks like you had a very productive Sunday, Melisa!
I don't decorate the house until December 1st, so my tree will still be a while before it comes out of its attic.
I don't have a specific theme: I put on the ornaments I've accumulated over the years, so it looks more like a "lifeline" 😂 The first thing I'll put up will be the Advent calendar.
    I like your new embroidery!.
    Hugs

  3. Another fun post with very cute trees! You've got some incredible talent, Miz Melisa. No specific decorating ideas for me. Maybe I'll come up with a good idea. Time will tell. I'm trying to finish a x-stitch project - one that shouldn't be taking this long. But I'm close so I can check it off my list. WooHoo!!! I'm anxious to make a Christmas little quilt so I need to get busy. LOL Happy, happy Monday. Big, big hugs, DarleneJ

  4. Love the trees - will have to live vicariously through you until the day after Thanksgiving when We decorate. I have just the one little tree that goes in the front of the RV on the computer table by the captains chairs. I have dreams of one day having a larger decorated tree out side but we'll have to see on that. ;-) Blessings!

  5. Love the trunk Melisa! It's going to be so cute. Your daughter's tree turned out beautiful. We use the same decorations every year but try to add something new from time to time. I gave our daughter several of our old decorations a few years back when we decided to no longer have a tree. But my husband missed it so much we have another one now - lol!

  6. I bet you will spiffy up the trunk just right! This year I think we will use a tiny tree and just put lights on it. Trying to decide what other decorations I might want to use. Your daughter's tree turned out great!

  7. Your tree from last year looks lovely, I'll enjoy viewing this year's tree when it's ready to be revealed. We won't do a tree here or much Christmas decorations at all. I put out several nativities and placed a Christmas quilt on the back of the couch. I'm about keeping things simple, I'd rather spend my time sewing than decorating. Happy stitching!

  8. You have so much energy. I always admire a theme tree they fun. My trees haven’t had a theme - they are an accumulation of 45 years of Christmas. This year however I will have a theme - “unbreakable”. In June I noticed a small feral kitten under a bush, after days of observing her - she joined our family. I image she will climb the tree and knock it over several times. I am going to go through all the ornaments - it will be a good opportunity to organize them better. I usually put up multiple trees 1 or 2 full size tall trees and 5 or 6 thinner or smaller trees on counters and tables. Tree decorating begins Thanksgiving evening. My stitched and quilt ornaments will be perfect. Thanks for the visit. Alicia

  9. Your daughter's tree looks super, Melisa. Well done! Pear Butter turned out beautifully. No to a theme unless you count it all being handcrafted as a theme! And only one tree; not sure if it will be the wrought iron tree or the actual Christmas tree.

  10. good morning "Santa" Melisa.
your daughter's tree is absolutely gorgeous. i love it. Santa what a wonderful idea to have a Santa tree. i love your idea of putting a tree in the trunk with toys all around. that is going to be so adorable. i can't wait to see it. you go girl!!!
Pear Butter is a cute little quilt. i love it. i love easy quilts and this one looks like i could whip it out in a day. i have just the fabrics for it. i'm thinking rose colored fabric with light browns. i love the pinkish and brown look. my favorite color is blue, then red, but i really love the different pinks (not pinky pink), browns, greens, i guess i actually love every color. i think we get our ideas from nature. just look around there is color everywhere - i love, love, love it.
i'll be back this afternoon for the thanksgiving parade. i am sure i can find a few turkey patterns you've created that i don't have in my mounds of paper. i'm going to get to all my patterns in my little box very soon. i better hurry - the paper level is rising.
have an awesome Monday Miss Melisa. enjoy your wally world day. i need to go to the market today as well. first stop an appt for my husband at his pulmonary specialist's office.
i am soooo looking forward to this afternoon for your thanksgiving parade. be careful and stay safe. no trips and falls please.
blessings and love are on the way to you. a great big squeezy hug is coming, too.

  12. I loved your wagon from last year and I think your trunk idea will be awesome! No, we don't have a theme here. . .we just pull out the small ornaments for a small tree; but, we don't decorate until December. --TerryK@OnGoingProjects

  13. I love your idea of using the trunk to hold your tree and some toys. You did a great job decorating your daughter's tree. I put up at least four trees. A real tree is the main one. Then I decorate two artifical trees, one for each of my kids, using the ornaments they collected as children. And I added one to our bedroom last year, filled with ornaments I painted years ago. I haven't sorted my plans are for this year yet.
