Missing Inaction and a Halloween Hutch Tour

Gosh, I have been missing in action! Or should I say inaction, because a lot has NOT been done in the last few days. In fact , it has been well over a week since I posted. Sigh. Well, my feet have been dragging and I have been moving like sloth for I have been under the weather . Nothing serious mind you, but after months of feeling on the poor side , I  have felt drained . Last night was the first time I got on the computer in days. 😲

Hocus Pocus
Before my set back I had high hopes of things I wanted to post, but alas not much has been accomplished in the stitching and quilting front.

But WAIT! I do have some Halloween Country Clutter to show you .

So if you so dare, let's go see what I conjured up for this year's Halloween hutch display. Be forewarned:  Cackle ! Cackle !  I am not a minimalist, and I am the "more the merrier mentality"  when it comes to decorating! It's just my style. 😁🤪

The top of my hutch always remains the same with just a few tins. I did add a couple of orange advertising tins.

Then the youngest grandson , Mr. F. had an idea.

"Add the Halloween Brownie Little Debbie box, to your display ? " he said with a smile.

"What a brilliant idea!" I  replied.

And so I did! Right on top of the Coca Cola crates .  "PERFECTION! " I said with a grin giving him a big hug.

A little four patch quilt is draped over the crates for the fall season.

Most of the shelves were packed with  thrifted Jack-o-lanterns and lots of good ole' fashion Halloween junk

As well as little stitcheries including : Big Jack and Little Jaxs, and Little Eeek and Jack Stamp.

And I must not forget one of my favorites - " Harvest Blessings" by Joyce Reed . It  can be found in the 2019 Fall issue of "Punch Needle and Primitive Stitcher Magazine".  I finished it on an old clock base.

There are orange and white plates and little pumpkins.

Hanging off the side of the hutch is Pumpkin Picker finished on an old wooden kitchen plaque.

Ole' Jack , the painted gourd, is always a favorite to display each year.  His toothy grin makes me happy.  The little cat was a Dollar Tree find.

That feisty Dollar Tree feline fits perfectly with my stitch called "Treat Delivery" which I haven't posted yet. It is nestled in a black thrifted frame that is spooktacular.

Halloween stitching galore is layered upon layered on the 2nd shelf.  Including:

Pumpkin Head a freebie from Donna at By the Bay Needleart which she posted on her blog on Oct . 17, 2014

"Surrender the Treats "  which was a freebie from Hands on Design(. Information on  it can be found on Cathy's Instagram.) , and An Autumn's Day a fun little house stitch that I shared a couple of years ago.

Wild Black Cats took over the bottom shelf.  I adore Walmart's Black Cat and Jack Cookie Jar. Meow!  Boo Hoo but no cookies in the cookie jar. 😀 Oh well, maybe next year! 🤷

The large resin cats are Wally World pieces as well.

But what about the stitching? Well there is  Happy Cat which was finished on a Dollar Tree paper mache box, and there is Little Black Cat Stamp as well as "Jolly Jacks" from All Through the Night.

So what do ya' think? Did I conjure up a good brewing of Halloween cuteness? It sure made me one happy witch to see the cats and Jacks smiling back at me while working in the kitchen.

Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to visit me . You always brighten my day when you drop by. If you are in the neighborhood in the morning, stop by, I will share one more Halloween freebie for the holiday season. It will be a nice one to stitch up for maybe next year.

I look forward to catching up with all of the happenings . Please forgive me if it takes a spell to catch up.

As Always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

  4. Dear Melisa, I’m so happy to see your post! 💕 Since I haven’t seen a post from you in a while, I was concerned….i have been working on your pink Dot’s Saltbox each day and praying that you were well. This isn’t the time of year for a snowy stitch, but the pink salt box reminds me of happy times at my aunt’s pink brick house in the small town where I grew up; so, thanks for this precious pattern. Life is tough for me right now, and your posts are such a bright spot to my heart. Thanks! I did get to go thrifting in Hot Springs recently!🤗 As I shopped for sweet, seasonal items for my hutches, I thought of you and your inspiring decor/ideas! A sweet, blessed escape! Oh, this post is long….🫢Prayers that you continue to feel better and thanks for the joy you spread! Sending love, prayers, and hugs to you and yours! Happy Halloween!😊🎃🙏🏻💕

  9. Missed your posts so much. Glad to see you back with all your treasures.
Years ago when I was working I would get a cold, sinus trouble, allergies and I discovered Alka Seltzer Nighttime Cold medicine. Ya remember the flop flop fizz stuff. Well, let me tell you you get a great night's sleep and I felt like a new woman the next day. Everyone I have ever told about it loves it. These days I can only take one tablet if needed but, once again New Woman. So I got to thinking why am I not taking this on nights that I have felt lowsy all day, just because. Hope you get to feeling much better.

  10. I am so happy to hear you are feeling better. I was concerned. While I missed your posts, I am glad you took the time to take care of yourself. Take it easy. Another wonderful hutch tour. Your items made me smile. I haven’t been able to put out many Halloween decorations this year, but I have been stitching a lot of Halloween patterns. I have two more of your Halloween stamps left to complete, and I should finish Witch Hazel McPunkin’s cottage tomorrow. Thank you for so many wonderful Halloween patterns. Have a wonderful Halloween.
