Porch Sitting, Stitching and Sprinkles of Christmas- A Doodle Freebie

Good morning, sweet friends and welcome.

The coffee is piping hot , please join me as I sit on the porch and enjoy the cool crisp air. It is a perfect day to sit , enjoy nature and chat. Hey, we may even get in a bit of stitching time as well.

Oh, please do forgive me- would you like one lump or two for your coffee?  I do have sweet iced tea in the fridge for your drinking pleasure too.

My little sewing basket is filled with joys of the season as well as treasure or two from sweet thoughtful friends. I think of them as I enjoy the peaceful  day. 🤗

What's in my basket? - Well an autumn hen handmade by dear Patricia , pretty floss from sweet Sonja ,  a darling crocheted pumpkin from dear Barbara, small fabric pumpkins, scissors  and..... my slow stitch for the day an  Autumn Dusk  which I shared earlier. Actually , by the time you see this post the embroidery will be finished. Hee  Hee!

Do you have a special piece that you are working on as we chat? I would love to see and admire it.🤗 Aaah how blessed , I feel to have you to enjoy this time with. ❤❤❤

I colored Autumn Dusk lightly with crayons and pencils and began the embroidery earlier. I am using Anchor floss # 681 for the vines and leaf.

Once I have it stitched, I will heat set it again and perhaps, add more color tinting with crayons and pencils.

Look behind you on the sweet gum tree. A downy woodpecker has been pecking away on the tree trunk. No doubt it is searching for a morning snack.

I was asked the other day about Christmas doodles. That got me reminiscing about past projects that I have shared like

Christmas Time Doodles

...and Country Christmas Doodles Week 1  , Country Christmas Doodles Week 2 , and  Country Christmas Doodles Week 3

Behind my dough bowl is Plum Street Sampler's freebie  called 12 Days of Christmas which was posted on Paulette's blog in 2015. Click on the colored text to visit her post.

I finished  Country Christmas Doodles Set 4 the other day.

Last night pen and paper came dancing from my desk drawer, just begging me to create new doodles for the upcoming season.

🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵

If you are interested in stitching this piece,  just grab , the images. For printing tips, refer to the post Tips for Printing which has loads of tips from my sweet friends.

🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵

I will be stitching these in the near future.

Do you hear the whistling of the wind thorough the trees and the chirps of the birds who are serenading us? I think they are happy on this beautiful day. Don't you?

The burning bush is showing signs of the fall season with little red berries scattered throughout.

Baskets of walnuts are being gathered and scattered on an old table . They will be dried and later used.

Did you notice the orange quilt  in my swing. That was made by my Great Grandma Annie. This is a closer look.

I decided to name it "Great Grandma Annie's Quilt". Hee ! Hee! Real original huh? 😀😂😜 It is a treasure though. If you would like to read more about it just click the colored text above.

Alright , Sweetness, I will let you get to your slow stitching. But I will leave you with a few fall photos from the holler. Thank you so much for brightening my day by your sweet presence. It means more than you will ever know. Have a beautiful day. Hugs

A new house is in the works called "Bittersweet , Pumpkin Stacks and a Turkey".   It will be a house for next year. I know it is late in the season ,but I will be sharing a new "turkey" house soon.

 As always,

Happy Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Melisa

A day with friends is a joyous day!

Hugs and Stitches!!! 🤗🧵

Dedicated to my dear sister, Amy . I miss and love you so much.   ❤👼

A few zinnias still linger late into the fall season.

I can't decide which chart of yours to stitch...maybe if you offered a quick saltbox SAL, we'd be motivated to accomplish last autumn project with you this year...

  5. Good Morning - Having a cup of coffee at the dinette, reading your blog, with Pork Chop (my kitty) close at hand. No slow stitching today as I have a baby quilt to bind and a craft class this morning. I do look forward to sitting outside on the patio and stitch but that will come later after the holidays when everything winds down. A question about your doodles - do you use and particular brand of crayons or colored pencils? I know some are better than others. Love your great grandma's quilt! The fall colors are perfect. Blessings!

  6. I'm still working on my first cup of coffee, but just about ready for my second. You are luck to have such a pretty place to sit and stitch. I can't see a window from my sewing machine. Enjoy your slow stitching, you have several pretty projects to enjoy.

  18. So glad I stopped in to read your blog. You sure know how to make someone smile! I was thinking of printing off the hearts to finally start that sew along, but I think the Christmas doodles are calling my name. Hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.

  19. Hi Melisa, it would be so nice to sit and enjoy your company on the porch, sipping a nice hot cup of coffee. Are those walnuts safe from any of your critters while they are drying outside on the old table? Perhaps you dont mind if a few go missing.

  21. What a lovely day to sit outside and stitch, Melisa! I love your pretty basket full of goodies from friends. I just printed out the little Christmas doodles and the November heart. Plus I'm working on the Ole Crow Saltbox House. Thanks for keeping me stitching!

  22. So much loveliness to see and comment about. The porch swing looks so cozy. I'm a 2 lump and a little milk in my coffee girl. Grandma Annie's String Star is sooo pretty. I love the color combos we find in vintage quilts. The black cat has so much personality! He looks pretty comfy there amongst the patchwork pillows. Thank you for the sweet new Christmas Doodles. So many wonderful photos from around your place. The farm implement bird is great! I don't think I've ever seen walnuts drying like that before. The newest house stitch looks to becoming beautiful. The last photo of the zinnia looks like so much more than one flower with the tiny blooms in its center. The little golden bug adds the perfect little accent.

  23. Autumn Dusk is so cute! Do you follow the same process to color with pencils as you do the crayons? and...do you use special pencils or just any ol' color pencils? Thanks so much for sharing
