There is a chill in the air!
The wind is blowing and the leaves are rustling.
Soon little spooks and ghouls will be bustling .
For Halloween is here.
Happy Halloween, sweet friends and welcome. Will  you be entertaining ghosts and goblins tonight? I am sure to  be spooked by  just 4 with a visit from my grandsons and nephews, and then off to town they will go in search of sweets and treats.
Today they were allowed to dress up for school and some classes even had parties. How fun! 🍬🍬🍬 Tonight they will set out on their grand candy seeking adventure a little before 5:00 when most of the other goblins come out.
Speaking of treats- my dear friend, Dianet has the most precious Halloween Freebie on her blog, Parchesdeamor blogspot. It is a darling Halloween Potion Jar; it is sure to cast a spell upon you.🫙🫙 It will be my Halloween start for the day. I will be choosing my fabric and gathering my floss. Thank you, Dianet. I will be sure to post my progress as I work on it. Will you be starting a new project today?
Did I ever show you my 2 Halloween cookie jars I bought this year? They were from Walmart . I have enjoyed them so much. In fact, the ghosts inspired my hutch display for the year.
Of course my hutch was filled to the brim with all things Halloween.
| Mr. Pinker made the hutch for me years ago. I enjoy filling it with treasures and handmades for the season. |
Late tonight at the stroke of midnight ( nah not really that early) all of these spooks will be banished to the deep dark depths of the attic until next year. Bye bye black cats and pesky bats. 🦇🦇🦇
Hmmm will turkeys flutter down to roost on the hutch to rest? Or will Santa shoo them away and adorn the shelves brightly colored baubles? I haven't decided yet. Usually I display my turkeys , but I am hearing jingle bells as the Christmas vibes are strongly calling.
I am curious. - When do you begin decorating for Christmas?

Alrighty , Sweeties, that's my Halloween musings. A bit of this and that and a whole lot of nothing- LOL.
Now you have a magical and spooktacular day!

Your Halloween hutch is adorable. The cookie jars are a perfect touch and look perfect with the other goodies. I don't have a special time I start decorating for Christmas. Like everything else I just fly by the seat of my pants. LOL When the mood strikes I get busy. Since it's just me I don't do as much as I used to but time will tell. I'll probably keep it simple and just decorate my kitchen. Just not sure.
ReplyDeleteMy oldest grandson stopped by to day to replace the battery in a chirping smoke alarm. It was annoying - ugh. It was so good to see him and just chat with him for a bit. I don't see either grandson very often. They work, work, work.
Happy Friday and Halloween!!! Big Ole Hugs, DarleneJ
Happy Halloween to you!
ReplyDeleteI love the cookie jars. Your deco is great. Christmas deco starts after the 15th of Nov. and I take out my little "Mrs. Olesons Merchandise" shop.
Be in a hurry for tonite, send greetings and a big Boo,
Gabi
I love your embroidery, Melisa!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your Halloween embroidery parade, so beautifully displayed in the shop window, even though I don't celebrate this holiday, which is foreign to me.
The Spanish tradition is to celebrate All Saints' Day on November 1st and All Souls' Day on November 2nd. These are days when we have a special remembrance for those who have passed away.
Have a great celebration!!
Hugs from Seville
Happy Halloween 🎃 👻 Love your hutch. Enjoy the grandkids and have a spooky day. K from NY
ReplyDeleteYour hutch is so fun. The potion jar is adorable - I am printing it off and adding it to the stitch stack. I only got about half of my Halloween decorations out this year due to some health issues. The timing of holiday decorating was a difficult decision since my eldest daughter from a young age felt that Thanksgiving didn’t get the recognition it deserved. So we would decorate the kitchen and family room in Halloween and the living room and dining room in fall/Thanksgiving. Once Halloween decorations are out we would immediately start on Thanksgiving - the process usually begins mid to end of September. November 1 or 2 Halloween 👻 gets stored and I start with Christmas decorations. The tree goes up but I don’t decorate it until the day after Thanksgiving. This schedule works keeps everyone happy and I am able to enjoy the fall decorations for a longer period of time. After the kids moved to their own homes I have kept the tradition. It is a busy decorating schedule but I love the decorations for all 3 holidays.
ReplyDeleteWe haven’t had any trick or treaters in years but I always have candy ready just in case. My dogs have costumes (Frankenstein and a lion this year) and will trick or treaters at friends homes. Thanks for the visit and enjoy Halloween. Alicia
Happy Halloween! Your hutch display looks perfect. December 1st was always my Christmas decorating time, but in the last few years it gets later and later!!
ReplyDeleteThose Halloween cookie jars are adorable! Your Halloween hutch looks really fun and pretty. We start decorating for Christmas right after Thanksgiving. I'm debating putting our tree up for our Thanksgiving when everyone comes to eat - not sure if it would take up too much room though' if anyone spends the night some of them have to sleep on air mattresses in our living room, so we have to leave enough space for that. Anyhoo, have a great weekend Melisa!
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed stitching all of the Halloween Stamps this year and they fill my wooden bowl on my dining table! Cannot wait for the new ones next year!! Thanking you again for your generosity in sharing your creative designs - I am working on some Christmas stamps that I did not get to last year and of course the list of unfinished houses yet to stitch. Happy Halloween - Carrie
ReplyDeleteGood Morning! Dh reminded me I need to take down the Halloween cross stitch and Happy Halloween sign tomorrow. What I'll put up I have no idea - already have your Autumn Sal so that will last for a while. ;-) As for decorating for Christmas, the day after Thanksgiving is when everything goes up! Love your cookie jars. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy seeing your hutch decorations, all your nick nacks and crosstiches. My oldest loves Thanksgiving so the Christmas decorations don't come out until the day after Thanksgiving. We don't shop on black Friday we decorate for Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI usually start decorating for Christmas around the 15th of Dec. --we don't really do a lot--a small tabletop tree and my fireplace mantel is all really. Your hutch is again so full of "eye candy"--perfect for Halloween candy treating...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeletegood morning "spooky" Melisa.
ReplyDeleteyou aren't really spooky. i just love your hutch. all of the halloween. yippee!!! i'm really not much of a halloween person, but i love everything halloween. is that strange? all of the beautiful colors. purples, oranges, blacks - what's not to love? it will be so fun seeing all the little kidlets today all dressed up saying there trick or treats with their little bags open wide. i remember taking my kids trick or treating. there was always a school carnival and i always brought home three goldfish as prizes won from the games they had played. it was such fun watching the kids. i wish they would have the carnivals again. make life more family-oriented. families seem so divided anymore. could one of the reasons be the creation of cellphones? there just doesn't seem to be any family outings any longer.
i love your hutch Melisa. it is so beautiful. your ghost cookie jar is the best. i already have decorated for Christmas. my tree was up on September 1st. i think i mentioned it in a previous post.
my mom's appt went great. she's doing great and all her labs were very good. she needs to increase her food intake - very low on protein and increase her activities, but other than that she passed with flying colors.
i didn't pick my quilt up because i was under the weather on Wednesday. we are playing out Wednesday today. i'll pick up my quilt, stop by rosie's calico cupboard to see a few friends and then onto my visit with Rosie. i am very much looking forward to it. it will be another busy day.
my daughter came in from arizona last night with my grand puppy. dusty, 13 years old, my grand puppy, will be staying with me for a few days. andrea's honey, dwight, and her will be driving to las vegas to celebrate their upcoming birthdays - dwight, november 4th, and andrea, november 10th.
i think i have kept your attention long enough. you can't get back to quilting and stitching as long as i have your ear.
have a wonderful, blessed day Melisa. it's going to be an awesome day.
blessings and love are on the way to you.
Debra Broyles
Your Halloween hutch is so cute, Melisa! Love the cookie jars - are they full of goodies? I'm going for turkeys first, and Christmas after Thanksgiving. Happy Halloween! I hope those boys of yours have a blast!
ReplyDeleteYour hutch is adorable! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteDH might start doing outdoor decorations anywhere from late November to mid December, depending on what the weather outlook is and what else he has going on. Indoors, I refuse to start until after Thanksgiving, sometimes not until mid December. Not that I do a lot of decorating as I don't really have good places to put much out.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to Dianet's cute pattern.

Hello my beautiful Meli, what a joy to know you liked my little design! It's an honor to know you'll make it and have a little piece of me close to you. I feel so grateful and happy thanks to you. Today I'll continue embroidering your projects that I'm absolutely in love with (literally!) hahaha. Hugs and have a happy and lovely day with you and your beautiful family. Enjoy your grandchildren! Kisses
Your Halloween hutch is really cute,, but spooky. Enjoy the holiday with the grands. I don't start decorating for Christmas till after Thanksgiving. My Guy is a big proponent of not rushing holidays.
ReplyDeleteSuch awesome Halloween treasures in your display today! I decorate for Christmas now. . .after Thanksgiving. When youngest daughter lived here, it was December 21 because her birthday was December 20! Not starting a new project today, working to make progress on one instead!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling Halloween hutch, Melisa. I see that you, like me, prefer cute and not gory/scary Halloween :) I, too, will take my Halloween decorations down tomorrow and out the turkeys will come. I may start decorating early for Christmas this year as my whole family will be here and we'll be alone with just one son and his girlfriend for Thanksgiving. I'd like to get things up so I can relax and enjoy December more than I usually do! Wishing you a wonderful November! ♥
