A Slow Stitching Sunday

Hello, Sunshine! Welcome.

My tiered tray by the corner sink is filled with chickens and sunflowers.

How about we head out to the porch for a spell before it gets too awful hot. Morning  is the best time to enjoy these summer days isn't it?

Bring along some stitching, as I gather our cups of coffee for our visit. I do enjoy having you here. So what are you working on today?  I know it is something delightful.

It has been a rather slow sultry week here in the holler.

Oreo says hi!
We had several pop up showers which again made garden work light.  It also gave me more time to bustle about the house.
Slowly sunflower decor and sunny yellow vintage items are coming out for display.

I am moving right along on the  Otis Payne's Bow Tie Quilt

 27 more blocks to quilt.

Woo Hoo! I fully finished Blooms of Sunshine onto a little fall wooden piece that I bought last year at Dollar General.  Thankfully, I bought 2 of these little faux wood boards. I took one, just flipped it to the back, painted it white and added my stitch which had  been mounted on a batting covered piece of cardboard.  Walhah! Easy Peasy!

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

Now onto the plans for the week.

Hmm.... What Should I do This Week?
🌞1. Piece more Kitchen Sink blocks
🌞2. Work on a new cross stitch
🌞3. Quilt Otis Payne's Bow Tie Quilt.
🌞4.Begin a new across stitch.
🌞5 Work on "Garden Is My Home" Embroidery.
🌞6. Work on Alycia's QAL.

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
So what do you have on the agenda for the week? It is hard to believe we are entering into the last few days of the month. My how time flies.
Enjoy your Slow Stitching Sunday and...
As Always,

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

  3. Happy Sunday dear Melisa 🤗☀️ One of the first things I do every morning is checking your blog to see if there's a new post 😁 It's so nice to start my day seeing all your creations and getting inspired 🙂
I'm spending my quiet (early) morning with stitching your cute blue house before the rest of the family gets up and the busyness of the day begins. I've got some packing to do and of course decide which stitchy project(s) get to come on my vacation with me 😅
Congrats to Oreo for becoming a mom 🥰
    Enjoy your day. ❤️

  7. good morning lovely Melisa.
what - July is almost gone? i can't believe it. as i get older time goes by so much faster. stop in the name of love!!! now you're going to sing that song all day long - aren't you? sung by the amazing Supremes. i love'd them. they were an awesome all female band. do you remember them?
oreo is such a sweet little kitty. so cute. i love kitties, too, but there are allergies running rampant in this household so a kitty is a no go! i love dogs. oh, i love elephants, too. if i could have an elephant i would. i just had a dream about elephants last night. they are such majestic beauties. humans can learn a lot from an elephant. they are so family/herd oriented. they are wonderful!!! i'm thinking about getting a golden retriever or a lab. i need to get a little puppy to love and hold onto. the new baby can sit on my lap with Lola. they can give each other kisses and then give bunches to me. ah!!! so heartwarming. if you can't tell, i am a big, big, big animal lover. i would love to have a raccoon. they are soooooo cute. their little faces are so expressive.
i love your bowtie quilt. it is coming along very nicely. your chicken and sunflower display is looking up. we used to raise bantam chickens. they'd multiply like crazy. geez!!! cute little chicks, however.
your calf is a cutie. do the cows come to the fence when they see you?
i guess i have occupied enough of your time. you probably want to get back to your Otis Payne bowtie quilt.
i hope you have a fabulous Sunday. has the weather cooled a little for you? it's going to be getting hot, hot, hot here next week. not looking forward to it at all.
blessings and love are on the way to you Melisa. stay safe and stay cool.

    1. LOL dear Debra, that song is singing in my head. Hee! Hee! I love The Supremes especially Diana Ross. I am a big animal lover too. Whenever we would take the youngins ' to the zoo, we would always have to see the elephants, monkeys, lions and wildebeest ( my daughter loved them. LOL.) I did not have any sightings of the raccoon today. Maybe it was too hot and it was resting in its den. It was hot as the dickens here with it being almost 100. Whew!! Summer is on! We have been waiting until evenings to pick the garden when it is a little cooler. Thank you so much for the kind words on my chicken sunflower display. I pulled more sunflower items out today. As I was doing so, I realized that sometime I need to make a small sunflower quilt, but alas that will have to be in the future. Well, dear Debra, I will let you go. I hope you have a wonderful start to your week. Enjoy these last few days of July. Sunny warm hugs

I did duck in and out, but most of the time spent the day bustling about the house. I hope your day was a lovely one. I am so honored that you will be adding Blooms of Sunshine to your stitching, Diann. I hope you enjoy . Hugs.

  13. The bow ties are being enhanced beautifully with your hand quilting. Here, we like to sit in the gazebo to read or stitch. Today, it's a little hot to even sit in the shade. We will just stay in the air conditioned house--maybe it will be cool enough this evening for a walk. I will have to get my sunflower cross stitch out on display soon too. How many new kittens did Oreo have? Have a good day. Gail at the cozy quilter

    1. Oh I bet it is so wonderful to sit in the gazebo and enjoy the day, Gail. Can you see your gardens from the gazebo? I spent most of my time in the house today too. It got up to 99 here- too hot to get out and about much. Oreo had 4 little ones. All but one looks like her. They are precious. Have a blessed day and thank you for dropping by. Hugs.

  14. That is a perfect finish for the Blooms of Sunshine stitch. Are Oreo and Double Stuff sisters? Very pretty kitties. The drowsy baby laying in the shade looks like I feel today. A little slow moving. Couldn't turn off the brain to get to sleep last night. Otis Payne's bow ties is looking great.

    1. I was thrilled to pieces that I had a finishing piece already in my stash , Ginny. I am trying to be as thrifty as possible so I was doing the happy dance. LOL. Oh yes Oreo and Double Stuff are sisters. They had their babies within 1 day of one another in the same kitty bed. LOL. They take care of each other's babes and are wonderful protective mothers. The nephews just love them. Oh, Ginny, I do hope you were able to get some rest today. Don't you just hate those nights when your mind seems to race. I wish you a better night's rest. Hugs and Blessings.

  15. For sure, I'd love to sit on the porch and watch you quilt that lovely Bow Tie Quilt as long as I can join you but have tea! Love the DG finish and it will look so good displayed with it's "facing front" twin! My last trip to Dollar Tree, I also picked up quite a few blank wood pieces that I immediately could see for finishing projects. Only now that I'm into cross stitch do I see they are such a good source for such things.

Oh how fun to have found some fabulous finishing pieces at the DT. Our DT is renovating - I hope they get in some new pieces that I can use for finishing too. I look forward to seeing your finds and finishes. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.

  16. It's definitely a tad bit warm for enjoying the outside right now. We are still in the midst of a heat wave and may have "feels like" temps up to 107 or higher! Time to just chill in the old AC for me! LOL Otis Payne's Bow Tie Quilt is coming right along. I look forward to seeing it finished. Your cross stitch finish looks great on that little board. And I love seeing that cute calf - adorable! Enjoy your slow stitching. Thanks in advance for sharing with us at Monday Musings.

I was thrilled to pieces to have found the little finishing board for my stitch; it made for a quick finish which I liked. Isn't that calf the cutest- I just love when the new babes are born. Enjoy your day. Hugs.

  17. Your posts always bring a smile to my face. Your front porch looks so welcoming and beautiful. I love bowtie quilts! I’m working on my Fields of Fancy blocks as well as prepping the next project. The heat certainly is strong, but mornings are perfect for gardening and sitting on the patio. Your creativity shines this week! Blessings to you!

  19. I spent quite a bit of time on the back screened in porch at retreat. We ate breakfast and lunch outside most days. Boy, it was HOT though. What a great idea for showcasing your stitching. I would never think of using a board, especially with other writing on it, to put a stitching on. Now, I'm thinking about what I might have done that I could do that with. (Probably nothing!) Have a great week.

Thank you for the sweet Sunday visit. Happy quilting. Hugs.

  22. What a wonderful way to start the day. While growing up my family often ended the day together sitting on my grandparents porch - that time together is a happy memory. The bow tie quilt is so colorful. I have about half of the blocks pieced for a bow tie quilt I started a couple of years ago - it is going on my list to finish up. Oreo looks so content and relaxed! Thanks for the visit- Alicia
