Hello , sweet friends. Are you in running wide open with all of the Christmas preparations? Or are you on one of the lucky ones who has it all done and can now sit back and enjoy it all? Me? Well, I enjoy running around like a chicken with her head cut off. Hee! Hee! All will come together in the end though. Family has arrived from out of town and now it is time for the festivities to begin! First, Mr. Pinker and I have to go to Wally World and pick up some last minute things- oh bother! I bet it will be a mad house. 😜😛😂 🐔🐔 Later tonight we will be baking cookies and decorating them. Oh what fun the grandsons will have.
This past Thanksgiving I tried a new recipe . It was well received so it is back on the menu for Christmas.

Woo Hoo! I am doing the happy dance! I finished "All is Calm" by sweet Darlene Deon of Darlene Deon Designs. ( Click here to visit Darlene's Esty) . In a tote in the garage, I found an old wooden winter sleigh that I had painted years ago. It was from the Walmart craft department from back in the good old days when they had a variety of items.
Anywhooo, "All is Calm fit perfectly. Thank you , Darlene for a darling design.
The wee four patch is still in the hoop. The border will be quilted next.
Now onto the plans for the week.
Hmm.... What Should I do This Week?
🌞1. Work on Flaming Butterflies quilt
🌞2.Work on Festive Four Patch quilt
🌞3. Work on Travel journal
🌞4. Visit with family
🌞5. Begin packing for upcoming trip.

All the best to you,
Gabi
Thank you so much for clearing up the mystery!!!!! Who the heck was that woman running down the street with her head cut off? Goodness I just couldn't figure it out who it was. Should have known. ROFLOL
ReplyDeleteI have an 'evil idea '. hehehe Decorate your foyer with Easter stuff and leave everyone confused. Can't you just see their faces. My sweet husband would say "dang woman, you're mean. I would look at him, laugh and say "you knew that when you married me. So, deal with it." hehehe
Enjoy your family and don't forget to take notes because we will be waiting to hear all about it. Big Christmas Hugs!!! Darlene J
All is Calm is so pretty! Not a busy week for me, no family coming, we'll have a Christmas breakfast with our local son next week. They always go to their in-law family since we are the local grandparents. Have a blessed day with your family! Happy Christmas!
ReplyDeleteWell, dh and decorated the day after Thanksgiving so that was easy. This past weekend I baked and this week, I'll be cooking and baking - I even have a schedule which I'm actually following. LOL! We don't have a lot of refrigerator/freezer storage in the rv so a lot that I do is last minute. Chocolate Chip cookies was yesterday and fudge the day before. Today peanut butter cracker cookies and pretzels dipped in almond bark with sprinkles on top. Pecan pies, corn casseroles, and snacks for Christmas Eve at my son's and potluck on Christmas day at the campground and I think I'll be done. Fingers crossed! Then we'll be headed to Mike's mom's to pick her up in the RV and off we go to our daughter's home a bit up north. So, a good kind of busy.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Christmas with family and friends - what a blessing to have them all with you. And thank you for the recipe - looks wonderful!
Blessings and Christmas Love!
All Is Calm is a great finish and what a terrific way to display it. Our youngest daughter and her daughter who is 2 arrived last night. It is a whirlwind of activity here! Merry Christmas!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteAlas we are headed to Wally today, as well as Kroger for last minute groceries. Tomorrow is actually my favorite day to shop, as most folks are done by then and I find it quite peaceful. But we celebrate (just Hubs and I) on Christmas Eve, so I'll be prepping our appetizer dinner tomorrow. I hope you have an amazing Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI can almost taste the salad... my mum used to make this with the longer green beans (dont know what you called them... it was made withe oil, vinegar and coffee milk (dont know if that is something we only have in the Netherlands), sugar, salt and pepper and chopped unions... it was jummie... Thanks for posting this here... I will certainly try to make this again... almost forgot it... ;)....
ReplyDeleteForgot to say... it is me.... how posted the last comment... 😉
ReplyDelete(Little Penpen) I’ve got to run to the grocery store, but hopefully, that’s it for me! I like the little cross stitch you completed. We love a similar bean salad recipe around here. Enjoy and merry Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteWell, I think we have everything we need to start cooking tomorrow. No presents wrapped yet, but hopefully will get that done today! I always look forward to Christmas even with all the extra hustle and bustle and cooking and such. It's a wonderful time with family and friends! That recipe sounds a lot like my Redneck Caviar recipe. I think I like yours better since there are less cans involved! LOL Love that Elvis tin. Did I tell you we visited his church in 2023? It was wonderful! Look up Bob Joyce on YouTube. If that's not Elvis (witness protection) then it has to be his twin Jesse! Have a VERY Merry and Blessed Christmas, dear Melisa! Enjoy time with your family and we'll see you after things settle down! Hugs!!
ReplyDeleteAll is Calm is delightful, finished on that little red sled, Melisa! Your bean salad looks yummy, too. Have a wonderful holiday with your family around!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of the baking I need to do for Christmas and thought o goodness, I have a lot to do.. and then I remembered I have the remainder of the week since we are celebrating on the 28th. Hahaha. I panicked for no reason at all. Thanks for sharing in my Sew and Tell party. Merry Christmas 🎄
ReplyDeleteThat recipe looks soooo good--I may make some--i happen to have all the ingredients on hand, too;))) Today is my big baking day--brownies, banana cream pie and two casseroles...then
ReplyDeletea nap I am sure hahaha--we olde folks (ancient ones!!) need to re-charge...;)))
I hope your Christmas celebration with family is wonderful hugs, Julierose
I think I spy a little vintage canister with strawberries behind the Coke one. That one is my pick for one that came home with you. If there was a 2nd...maybe the animal cracker tin? Because you do love to use red in your decorating.
ReplyDeleteI've gotten a bit lazy over the years, on those rare occasions I want bean salad I buy from the deli and add other beans if I want. In spring, I cut up the skinny asparagus spears that will turn to mush by the time the other spears are just right, and add those along with some lemon juice.
How cool that you had the little sleigh in the stash already! So nice to have the project finished-finished, not sitting in a pile while you wonder what to do with it.
I make bean salad with 1 Tablespoon of sugar and less of a good quality extra virgin olive oil, along with apple cider vinegar. A favorite!
ReplyDeleteAlways fun to see what you are stitching. Merry Christmas!
Hi Melisa,
ReplyDeleteI think you are a wind up doll and just go, go, go! I am always amazed by all the beautiful things you accomplish! Love you and merry Christmas to you and your family ♥️♥️♥️
Merry Christmas!! I bet Christmas at your house is amazing!! All your incredible decorations - and cookie making - love it!!! Enjoy every minute!
ReplyDeleteThese are hectic days of preparations!!!
ReplyDeleteIn our case, we go to my mother's house with the whole family and we love to cook delicacies to share dinner on the 24th.
I wish you a very Merry Christmas in the company of your loved ones.
Lots of hugs from Spain
Christmas wishes and blessings to you and your sweet family this holiday season. I am just about finished with my list of things to do, woo-hoo!! I am a bit early this year, I am usually still doing last minute stuff at 5am on Christmas morning, lol. The 5-bean salad will be going with me to the Christmas feast. Yummy!! Warm hugs from sunny Arizona.
ReplyDeleteI love your finish of All is Calm, Melisa. Your mini 4-patch is pretty, too. My mom makes a very similar bean recipe and we love them. Hope you enjoy baking with the grands!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and your family!!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year full of creative projects!!
Hugs and kisses,
Pilarín
Merry Christmas, Melisa! It sounds like you are busy, but happy as you prepare for Christmas. We are alone this year and a bit sad, but we just have to look ahead to next year when everyone will be here. I do believe this is the first year ever that I didn't bake a single Christmas cookie :( I think I'll make some gingerbread boys for myself tomorrow! My mom used to make a bean salad similar to yours so that brought back nice memories. Wishing you all the best from snowy Pennsylvania. Merry Christmas, my friend! ♥
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and Mr Pinker and your whole family. Small quiet Christmas here, but that’s ok too!! I’m working on the Gingerbread House. I didn’t print the instructions, they are in Photos because I am traveling. Enjoying it. Hope your upcoming trip goes well!!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous above is me, Judy @ BusyHandsAreHappyHands
ReplyDeleteSending Christmas wishes to you from New Zealand Melisa, thanks for all your lovely friendly comments over the year.
ReplyDeleteWhere in the world did you find wax beans?!? My husband loves them and I can't find them.
ReplyDeleteI just finished all the gift wrapping and hopefully My Guy made his last run to Wally World earlier this morning. Hope you've got all the prep under control and can enjoy the time with your family.
ReplyDeleteI love 5 bean salad! Now I wish we were having it for our holiday meal. There's still time! Thanks for the nudge.
