Off and Running!

Here we go! Let's start the week running!
Welcome, ya'll and Happy Monday!

I am making progress on Darlene's Quilt.  I named it after my sweet friend, Darlene who made a small one and shared it on Instagram. Darlene always has the cutest minis going on . She is such an inspiration to me. ❤๐Ÿค—

My blocks are 6 1/2".  26 blocks completed .  I am aiming for 42 blocks.  What a fun leader/ ender project this is.  Thank you, dear Darlene! ๐Ÿค—

Today , Mr. Pinker and I will be going into to the big city. I rarely go to the city  unless we are going to the hospital.๐Ÿ˜ฌ But today Mr. Pinker has to go pick up something so I will go along for the ride. I will bring along my Sunflower Mini Sampler  which I shared last week.  I finally started it last night for my Sunflower Sunday stitch.

When I finish it, I will certainly  list the colors that I am using. Next to it is Sunflower Mason Jar

Now onto the plans for the week.

  1. Oh Melisa you've touched my heart and put a huge smile on my face! Your quilt is wonderful, adorable, sweet, cute, etc.
You're always so incredibly productive! I lived variously through you today - lots of piecing and machine quilting today. Taking a couple of breaks to do a little x-stitching because I want to finish my current project. LOL
Wishing you a happy and productive week, dear friend.

    1. Aah thank you so much, Robin. We will take the back roads so I will enjoy the scenery as we ride. It usually takes about an hour. I should have my little sampler completed in that amount of time. Lol. Happy Monday.

  6. I am hoping that your big city trip was a good adventure, sorry about the dentist, a necessary habit that we all need to have. Love your stick Stars, I will have to remember those the next time I trim the Mesquite trees in my back yord. Have a great week, your list is something I should do!!! I need more organization in my life, lol! Hugs from sunny Arizona.

    1. Happy Monday, dear Mary. It was nice to be out and about . Luckily I did not have to drive. Lol. Those little stars as easy to make and would look darling made out of mesquite. At Christmas time , I pair them with my cowboy tree with bits of raffia and cowboy Santas and mini boots. I added a tad of glue at the tips as I wrapped the jute twine around the edges. Hope you have a wonderful week. Hugs and blessings.

  7. Melisa, I hope you had a great ride with Mr. Pinker. I hate driving in the city too! Heck, I don't even like to visit if I can help it! I love those stick stars. What a great idea! Your leader-ender project is fantastic. I have lots of pieces and really need to do that with them. Thanks for sharing on Monday Musings!

  9. Those pinwheel blocks are sweet as can be, Melisa! I love the colors you're using in them. The sunflower mason jar design is calling to me, too, but I'd better stitch up the sunflower sampler first! Hope you had a great visit to the big city!

    1. I am enjoying the Pinwheels so much, Diann especially since I am using the reproduction fabrics. It is always hard to cut into those fabrics, but I am so happy when I do use them.  Enjoy stitching on your Mini Sunflower Sampler. I finished mine last night. Now to FFO it. Lol. Happy quilting and stitching.

  10. Oh my, such a lovely chicken tree. I like the version you are doing of Darlenes quilt, that looks nice and easy and would make a great RSC project. Have fun in the big city, maybe you will be going somewhere nice for lunch as a treat?

    1. I enjoyed pulling out all of the little wooden chickens for the tree. It makes me happy. That's a great idea on using the Pinwheel blocks for a RSC project. I may do that next year. Thank you so much for the idea, Jenny. We had a great time in the city; we even stopped for a quick meal . Have a great week. Hugs.

  11. A new tree! So cute! Love the "hens at work" sign. Did you paint all the sweet little chickens? You are so creative! When my oldest was in Cub Scouts they made twig stars. Thank you for bringing that memory to mind.

    1. Lol I did paint those little chickens. Hubby cut out the small ones almost 30 years ago and I just took a scrap piece of wood and painted the Hens at Work sign. I enjoy pulling them out each year. Aaah I am so glad this post brought back a fond memory. Those twig stars are an easy cheap craft with loads of cuteness. Thank you for the sweet visit, Ginny.

  12. Love all those chicken boards! I have a twig just like that out on my deck - just one, though, so no twiney stars for me. Darlene's quilt looks adorable in those wonderful colors. I'm looking around for a leader ender to do when I'm tired of log cabins (like now!) and I've already made too many Prairie Points blocks, but those points are SO much fun to make! I might have gotten addicted to them. Am I going to have to make another quilt of them???

Hope you had a good time in the big city - whichever one it was. I live right on a mountain of my big city, but spend 90% of my time in about a 5 mile radius of my house. I have a small woods and ravine out back, but I wish it were more ... still, not complaining about what I don't have when I have so much! An owl spends every summer in that woods, and I hear him many nights, so what a blessing it is to have the tiny woods!

    1. Happy Monday, Susan. Thank you so much on my little chickens. I made those years ago and still enjoy bringing them out during the summer. I have enjoyed seeing your Prairie points and look forward to seeing them come together in a quilt. It is always fun to start a new project isn't it?
We had a great time in the city, but I do prefer our rural area.  Your home sounds delightful. I bet you enjoy seeing all kinds of wildlife as well. The hoot of an owl at dusk is always nice to hear.  I hear one every now and again.  Last night I had a couple of raccoons sitting on my front porch staring at me through the window and earlier during the day a gray squirrel. I agree it is a blessing to live near the woods. Have a great week. Hugs.

  14. Love the quilt - such a simple design yet so very pretty! And do I spy a pair of antique scissors on your sunflower sampler? Those are so cool! Have fun in the city - you never know what inspiration you'll find there - and good luck at the dentist. Blessings.
