Hen House and Chicken Scratch- A Couple of Chicken Freebies

Hey, all ya'll chicken lover's out there. Come on in and see my newest little additions to my chicken decor.

It's Hen House which I showed last week in my Hen House Hutch Tour!  If you missed that, pop over to see my hutch all decked out in lots of poultry.

Lots of yardbirds are pecking about outside the henhouse. There are baskets of eggs, sunflowers and blooms- looks like the perfect summer day on the farm. Don't you think?

I stitched this piece in 2021 but did not finish it until last year when I put it into the fabulous chippy frame. To make it fit I sewed a red strip of fabric from my daughter's dress to the bottom of it.

If you are interested in stitching this piece,  just grab , the images. For printing tips, refer to the post Tips for Printing which has loads of tips from my sweet friends.

Now I can not forget Chicken Scratch!

This little wool applique has to be 10 years old.  I made it into a simple pillow and embroidered small x's in red and blue all about the pillow. I adore the mustard colored wool. I wish I had a lot more of it.

If you would like this little doodle too, well just grab the image. I revamped the design since I created it years ago, and it is a little larger than my pillow. So you can enlarge or reduce it to whatever size you desire. I just stitched the x's willy nilly.

Alrighty, Sweet Chickies, I am off to see what mischief I can get into. I hope you get into some yourself.  If you have the chance , pop by tomorrow - a new house is in the neighborhood and I would be so honored for you to see it.

Here's a sneaky peek.

OOPS - I almost let you go before I gave you this reminder- YOU ARE AWESOME! I can not thank all of you enough for  your kindness and sweet visits. ❤๐Ÿค— - Love ya' !

Have a beautiful day and ...

As always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, ya'll

Melisa

Life is better with chickens!

Hugs and Stitches!!!!๐Ÿค—๐Ÿงต❤

  1. Love those chickens! Sure, takes me back to my maternal grandmother. She'd gather eggs in an old child's tin bucket that had been mine when I was much younger. And she carried chicken feed in the pockets of her apron. Thank you for taking me back to one of my happiest places!

    1. Oh , Darlene those are some sweet heartwarming memories. Thank you so much for sharing them. There is nothing like having fond memories of our grandmothers is there ? It would be so neat if you still had the tin bucket and her apron. Thank you for bringing a smile to my day. Hugs.

    1. Aaah thank you so much, Isabel. I would love to have a little red hen house filled with chickens in real life. Over the years we have raised chickens , but critters always get them. So now I have to settle for stitched chickens. Maybe one day I will have a little red hen house. Hugs.

    1. Aaaw I think that is so sweet, Lori. How fortunate that your sweet chicken had you to take care of it and spoil her. They do have personalities don't they? We had a rooster that would run to get in the front seat of the vehicle if it saw us leaving. It was sneaky because sometimes we would not see it coming . Lol. Have a blessed weekend. Hugs.
