This time of the year gets me in the mood for Spring cleaning.

The other day I put on my apron, gathered up my duster and broom and went straight to work. The task at hand- was to clean one of my daughter's closets. She is grown and gone, but she still has her own room for when she comes for a visit. Thankfully, it was not too daunting of a job because she is pretty organized. But I spent the morning folding and refolding sports uniforms and stacks of tablecloths that I pushed into the back corner for safe keeping. In a couple of hours, one closet was spic and span with room for more items to be stored away. Shhhh! Don't tell her though? Hee ! Hee! Where I am a maximalist ; she is a minimalist. Oh, well 🤷. The collecting bug did not rub off on her. LOL. I may work on her 2nd closet today.

Later in the evening, I went outside and sat on the porch and worked on With Thy Needle and Thread's "Boo To You". In the evenings around 6:30 , I have been hearing wild turkeys yelp, cluck and purr before they head up into the trees to roost. Earlier during the day I spotted a rafter of them near the river, but have yet to spot their roosting trees. Yesterday, I spotted the first snake of the season. YIKESTERS!. It was warming itself in the middle of the road just off from the driveway. It had slithered its way down our hill.
Hmmm . What else? Well...I changed out my quilt on the "shelf quilt rack" above my Great Grandma Annie's buffet. I bought this quilt in Alabama 2 years ago. It is hand quilted. The Spring colors brighten up the living room.

Bunnies , milk glass , and stitched pieces were sprinkled on the buffet for a Spring vignette. To be honest, I did not put much effort into decorating this Easter. Oh well, it will get me through the next few weeks unless I get a wild hair and decide to change it.

Well I finished the stitching awhile back and finally was able to sit down and FFO this precious jar.
I made it into the most darling Halloween pin pillow and added some wool yarn trim which I twisted and tacked along the seams. What do you think? I say this little jar is one cutie patootie if I do say so myself. Thank you, Dianet for sharing this darling little jar. The sweet little face makes me smile.
I guess I best get off here. I have a grocery pickup here soon. Then perhaps, I can sit back , put up my feet and enjoy some slow stitching time. Here , Here for the weekend! Enjoy your day, Sweetness!

I understand the need to do some spring cleaning because I've been feeling the same way. My cleaning is involving purging things that need to GO! LOL I've even been questioning why I continue to quilt. There's definitely going to be some purging - way too many quilts!!! When I think about quilting, I have little to no desire to make large quilts - small quilts really speak loudly to me. Oh well. Enjoy your Friday. Do something fun! Big Hugs, DarleneJ

ReplyDeleteI appreciate that you are mixing up seasons with spring cleaning and Halloween stitching. Halloween is my favorite and it makes me happy to see a little bit of it year round.
ReplyDeleteLovely Wedding Ring quilt--such soft colors makes you think of Spring:)) Tidying up always gets my energies flowing...Nice that it's warm enough to sit out for you--only 30 here this morning with frost --so not quite yet...the winds off the still cold ocean waters keep us cooler in the springtime...hugs, Julierose

ReplyDeleteThat Alabama quilt is beautiful! Getting a closet cleaned and making more space is huge in my book. Yes I've been in the mood to clean and garden and well, just do it all! Hope you get a chance to breathe this weekend and enjoy this spring. Take care!
ReplyDeleteOMGoodness! That yellow coffee mug is beautiful! The changing of the quilt on the buffet is perfect for the new season and I always spy the milkglass, which was my mom's and is now my good dishes. So pretty. The little potions bottle stitch is a bit spooky but cute.
ReplyDeleteMy house needs a full deep clean.... did I mention I hate cleaning? I've seen the black racer snake around the last few weeks, still makes me jump and gasp every time I see him. I believe one of the chickens found and ate a baby snake.... lets just say I let her enjoy her snack before I shooed her back into the run! Have a wonderful weekend.
